*Editors Note* IF you play the blizzard build, you would use the instant cast blizzards on single target. The reason I did not include this is because I didn't want to confuse people talking about a build which is pretty much only used in mdi-style keys. Even I do not find use for this build on live, so I figured it best to not go into detail ❤

For those asking about arcane explosion- She makes it clear she is talking about live/retail keys when she says about it not being useful damage. The footage where she is using AE is from the mdi where her job on the team was to deal aoe. Hope this clears it up! Great video zola

Mirrors of torment has no usage in that phase because the totem mob does not cast any spells to proc the mirrors.

How important is it to cast the orb with the rune? I always use blizzard ST to combine rune and orb. Is this essential or can I play rune and orb separately?

Isn't MDI played on tournament realms where you can just buy any gear you want and make multiple characters for different covenants? They make NF mages while not doing any raiding on those realms, so isn't NF just better for high m+?

good video! I have been playing freezing rain and yeah, it works so well in certain dungeons in which big pulls are the standard, and if the group is organized. however, now I would like to know what you think about glacial fragments, since it will see its aoe cap removed (I think it does ful ldamage to 5 targets, and reduced damage to the rest) I would like to have this legendary as an option but it doesnt look good because it doesnt interact with icy propulsion conduit and its pretty bad for single target... also, I dont know if it can do more aoe damage than freezing rain build may I know your thoughts about it? thanks!!

I can only give a theorycraft prediction here, as it’s not live yet. I believe it will be the strongest AoE legendary if it goes live in current state. I believe the freezing winds legendary would be used in situations where you need the extra single target (perhaps tyrannical or dungeons like ToP)

It’s not what I prefer it’s what sims best for me! Theotar currently sims highest with my gear setup, but you need to sim yourself because both soulbinds are very close 🥰

When you are already close to or at the shatter cap, what power should you be taking from Incinerator Arkolath? Taking Champions Brand seems like a bad idea since it would put you close to 40% critical strike. I know there is still value above 33% but are the other powers more competitive at this point and is there any way to sim it?

Try raging battleaxe for tyrannical weeks and signet of bolstering for fortified weeks or if you know your tank is going to pull big every pull.

I did 5x +20 but I m generally 3th dps thank u for the tips. And I m thinking about to switch covenant NF at 9.1.5 I didn't make raid so It could be helpfull on my M+ progression I guess. I also watching Bobfross he is doing awesome works with NightFae but yeah until 9.1.5 I will stay Venthyr 😂😂😂

As frost - Glacial Fragments and Freezing Winds during Fortified weeks & Freezing Winds and Slick Ice for Tyrannical weeks.

@@thanhiclez -- I think Cold Front would work better with Slick Ice. Slick Ice lets you get out frost bolts faster and Cold Front turns those frost bolts into extra frozen orbs. If you have more frozen orbs you probably don't have to worry about fingers of frost procs. Gotta think out of the box. Lots of things are possible. Don't just think of the generic picks.

@@semi6544 You miss the point, Freezing Winds and Slick Ice on Tyrannical week - Freezing Winds for the AOE burst on adds while still performing well against bosses with Slick Ice allowing you to push dps on bosses an extra mile. Cold Front would feel inconsistent on add pulls compared to Freezing Winds as its easier to generate CDR from Frozen Orb by casting Blizzard compared to casting Frostbolt/Flurry 30 times.

@@semi6544 You'd probably have a better time also maintaining the CD of Icy Veins with the procs from Freezing Winds. I feel Cold Front and Slick Ice combo you'd need to plan your Icy Veins. Sorry for multiple comments, other thoughts come to mind after I comment.

so... just to reiterate.. you said using arcane explosion isnt really meaningful dmg and its better to not use it in M+, but i did see 3 seperate clips of you pulling 100k while spamming it.. without spamming arcane explosion is it even possible to get half that? seems to me like doubling your overall dmg > priority target dmg, am I wrong?

Same as the other covenants! Either slick ice, freezing winds or glacial fragments depending on what situation you are in. Nothing changes!

Not in the 18-20 key range when the adds have significantly more health. If you're just doing 15s then sure.

@@mikedziedzic2326 just the proccs from frozen orb+ rune should be around 70-80k dmg, then you should have atleast one more procc from what you've saved from the mueh'zala. which is around 100k dmg including the dmg from the orb itself. Then with ht proccs you're generating yourself and the dmg from frostbolt itself should be more than enough. Especially if you're saving icyveins

@@sakarias00 I don't know the exact scaling but in the 22 she's doing it has almost 170k health. That's more than 50% remaining HP with your logic. So no freezing winds would not be enough in higher keys.

@@sakarias00 Well Icy Veins doesn't do damage, it's just haste to help you fish for procs with frost bolt which is why its part of the FAQ because it's not as simple as "freezing winds will be enough most of the time" as you originally stated. You can get lucky or unlucky. Personally I have no issues on it in 20s but some people might because of terrible procs, or like she said in the video, too much movement.

I noticed your arcane explosioning in large mobs. Is that how mages can get so high in the meters? I’ve never seen mages do that as frost and never have they explained that in any rotation videos .

Frost does not rely on a covenant to deal AoE. All covenants do pretty much the same AoE damage. In M+ NF has slightly better AoE *only* when pulling huge mdi style pulls. Since frost isn't covenant dependent, the safe choice for pugs, is usually Venthyr. Since that way you have both AoE and ST damage. Remember: Frost does not rely on a covenant to deal AoE. Hope this helps you!

Overall a decent guide for new people, but there are a lot of smaller parts of misinformation in this. for instance the blizzard never casting it on a single target, if you run freezing rain you absolutely do cast it on a single target. The whole thing about nf is also heavily misleading, it's not because they are fire mains in raid they are NF frost, its because its the best. You gain plenty of single target on bosses with freezing winds orbs and resetting orb cd with NF ability means more freezing rain procs, more orbs, pretty much 100% uptime on icy veins through the entire dungeon and also you run freezing rain in over half the dungeons at high level keys even on tyranical weeks. I could go on but meh.

You're correct about the blizzard build and using the instant cast blizzards on ST. The only reason I did not include this is because that is a build for MDI-pull style keys, and not applicable for over 99% of the community. I did not want to confuse by talking about niche things that wouldn't apply to people. I've had feedback in the past about talking about things that people who watch these videos wouldn't be doing. I figured to keep it simple. People playing those kinds of keys do not need the basics of frost mage in this video 🥰 The information about NF you have given here isn't correct, based off the people who run the sims (some contributors in the alter time mage discord.) My script is always sourced from these mages, and checked over by them. Thank you for taking the time to reply! 🥰

So you use blizzard on ST if you’re doing world top 20 keys with massive pulls and using that niche build, seems a bit out of place here to me. For a player struggling in weekly keys, I’d rather not be more confused if I can help it

@@Mnm952 its not true, it all depends on key and pulls if you tank pulls big even on tyran weeks for example on a +21 or +22 key in halls you can play this freezing rain build and its insane and i think a +22 key is not mdi or top world player xD, even its pretty fun to play this build, you should try it)
