Japanese N700 series Shinkansen are also tied with Thalys at 300 km/h (186 mph). H5 Series is currently running at 320 km/h, along with related E5 and E6 Series, only between Utsunomiya and Morioka section on Tohoku Shinkansen. 360 km/h is currently under R&D at JR East, because Japan has strict noise standards. H5 Series Shinkansen is the same train as E5 Series Shinkansen, but with different ownerships and color stripe. E5 (pink stripe) is owned by JR East (East Japan Railway Company) and H5 (purple stripe) is owned by JR Hokkaido (Hokkaido Railway Company). Both of them are commonly coupled with red E6 Series (Komachi) running on Tohoku Shinkansen at 320 km/h between Tokyo and Morioka. After Morioka Station, E5/H5 continues on the dedicated Shinkansen line towards Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto and E6 turns left to the re-gauged line converted from former narrow gauge line, running at maximum of 130 km/h and stops only at major stations on the line (like a limited express train) towards Akita.

The current world speed record for a commercial train on steel wheels is held by the French TGV at 574.8 km/h (357.2 mph), achieved on 3 April 2007 on the new LGV Est.

Incorrect ! It was a world speed record for a railed vehicle at the time, but it was a test version of the ongoing TGV designs. In addition the voltage in the overhead wire was significantly increased for this test train. Normal commercial units could not traverse that line until the voltage had been reset to the normal 25,000v.

If you are wondering why the Japanese trains use that strange looking pointed front end, it is to reduce the airborne shock wave when entering or leaving tunnels at high speed. Japanese tunnels tend to be only slightly larger than the train itself, making the shock wave issue pretty serious.

If the L0 actually can manage Tokyo to Osaka in 1hr7mn that's a massive improvement. The current trains take almost 4hr for that trip. If the ticket prices are reasonable it could mean that all points between Tokyo and Osaka become potential "day trip" locations for people who otherwise wouldn't consider it. It has the potential to be a really good thing for the economy on either end. It may even help tourism overall. Foreign visitors to Tokyo who might otherwise not see Osaka could do so, and vice versa. These kinds of super-low travel times across countries like Japan are great since there's really a lot to see.

However, the Japanese Shinkansen runs on the complicated terrain of Japan with 16-car trains every 10 minutes. There has never been an accident that nobody is killed for 55 years. And it has never been buried in the ground. The E5-type in this video is called the Tohoku Shinkansen, which runs in severe conditions for the railway. The type one runs in the Tohoku region. The area is hot in summer and heavy snow in winter. And in 2011, the big earthquake occurred, you know. Still, the type runs at that speed. Also, the Japanese Shinkansen designers focus on braking rather than a fast pace. Again, it runs at that speed.

Don’t mix-up with operating speed and test speed. You must either compare only one of them. The theoretical maximum speeds of some Chinese non-Maglev trains even surpass 600km/h, which means if you include the Japanese maglev test one as an honoured #1, you shouldn’t have not included all those tests that have been made all around the word that reached that speed. To be fair, only those commercially operating trains should be included in the list.

I thought the TGV was the fastest train among the only rivals of the EastSea Expressway Shinkansen in Japan.When I heard that, I thought that TGV was not just an ordinary person, it was amazing.EastSeaDoshin Line is the world's first high-speed railway, but it was the first time that the main railway was overtaken.I thought it was amazing.High-speed railways outside Japan run on the same track as local trains, but high-speed railways in Japan needed to build new tracks that were different from conventional ones, because the world's standard tracks were standard tracks, and the ones used by Japan's JR and old JNR were narrow tracks, but it was difficult to build high-speed railways, so we built new tracks for high-speed railways.By the way, the reason why conventional Japanese lines are narrow gauge is because Britain tried to make it possible to buy only their own when constructing railways in Japan.I was told when I was riding a TGV in France that there is a dedicated track.I felt a sense of closeness in that it was similar to the Shinkansen in Japan.

@emiel333 Жыл бұрын
@@tommeunier9333 what train is faster than this world record? Why the TGV is the #1 fastest train is because it’s steel wheels on a steel railroad. It’s very difficult for any steel on steel train to get traction in the first place, let alone accelerating to a speed of 574 km/h. Yes, magnet rail system trains achieve higher speeds (subtle increase), around 600 km/h but they use a whole different system to travel on in the first place. For such a train it’s easier to reach this high speed and has less risks to deal with (like getting off the railroad and crashing what potentially can happen with trains on steel railroads). I cannot come up with another steel to steel train that surpasses the TGV world record. If there is actually one (not a magnetic rail system based train) I would like to hear that to see if it’s a world record conducted by professionals with real footage and evidence that it’s been defined as a world record, just like the TGV I’ve mentioned.

@@SamsungLe-vz2uy That’s fast! True about the testing. The 574 km/h from the TGV was an one time test run to see what the train could be pushed to. In France, they don’t go above 320 km/h.

Very bad research. Numbers are wrong (The ICE runs 320 km/h every day in France), trains are wrong (You show several different kinds of some train families, which attain different maximum speeds) and then you randomly mix maximum trial speeds, regular operating speeds and so on. If you are not willing to do basic research, don't publish videos like this.

Currently, airplanes will take only 7 to 8 hours to reach New York from California. Even the fastest bullet train in the world at the moment will take about 15 hours from California to New York. This is the answer to the question why the US has no high speed rail at this moment. American airplanes are still superior to all the modern bullet trains, so why do Americans need to spend billions of dollars on something that's not even faster than the current transportation in the US? However, the hyperloop technology, which is continued developing, could possibly take only 45 minutes from Los Angeles to New York. And this is the technology that Americans are going for. It's hyperloop, not bullet trains!

@s s in the last 10 years China has had 3 train accidents. And Japan has had 5 so what are you going on about?
@bernardjameswilson4 жыл бұрын
@s s only 1 dies out of the 5 accidents the one in 2019. . It's unfortunate that people lost their lives but 3 accidents in 10 years is ok considering they're running operations on a railway system that x10 as long as they have in japan. Plus like 80+% of their total lines were made just within the last 10 years there will be a steep learning curve.
