Beside, another fact, Japan had serious aging problem. Not much young skilled workers to send to overseas to build railway or any construction works. This is a hard fact! Britain is a lot smaller than most of these countries and also alot more dense. Yeah we could have trains that do 190MPH but most of the timeit would have to travel at reduced speed for safety. There is a project in Florida called Virgin Trains USA (formerly Brightline) that is the first private higher speed rail in the country that will travel between Orlando and Miami in under 3 hours when the extension is complete, and they will also be operating another line that will go from Las Vegas to Southern California in 1.5 hours. Let's not forget the Texas Central Railway that will become the first dedicated private high speed rail in the country going from Dallas to Houston also in 1.5 hours. I wouldn't give up on American High Speed Rail just yet.

it's unlikely china would build another maglev. the one in shanghai is more like a testrun, which's way too expensive to build and maintain. i think crrc would build more fuxing series.

There are few other maglev train in real operation, though slower at about 120 kph only. Yamanashi Japan, Incheon Airport Seoul, Changsha n Beijing China. A few more slow maglev train are also under construction around the world. 120--140 kph only. Can check it out with Wikipedia. The fast maglev train line under construction is the one from Tokyo to Nagoya. Schedule for 2027 operation

@@tinayang5442 Nah none of the both if in several decades. India will emerge as a strong competitor as Japan is transferring high speed rail technology to India and the cars are made in India. After that, India will have the advantages of population, low cost, technology, and construction experience. It may take some time but finally India will catch up.

$450 millions for the CRRC Maglev? That's a joke right? Even a cheap Chinese knock-off can't be so inexpensive for a high-speed train so I can't even imagine the price tag of a maglev project. And on top of that the cost of building 800+ miles / 1300 km of double track will be humongous! I somehow have very little trust in the costs announced by Chinese authorities. They've repeatedly lied about economic growth, seriously inflating the numbers for the past 20 years while under evaluating costs for many projects like Beijing and Shanghai subways. 450 millions dollars is not even close to the development cost of a mid-range high-speed train on wheels project... Almost 20 years ago the Shanghai Airport maglev track cost $60 millions per mile (1.2 billion US$ total), so now with China having labor costs getting closer to European costs every year, I can't begin to imagine the cost of 810 miles of new improved maglev track now or worse, in a few years... The Japanese are spending a real fortune on their maglev and the line won't be finished until 2045 to the earliest... And considering the longer time they'll take to build it, I find their numbers much more credible than the ones for the CRRC. Or will the CRRC be essentially the already developed Siemens Maglev (hence only 450 millions) with a Chinese stamp on it running on an upgraded track that will cost billions and billions?

Speaking of Chinese copycats? I'm afraid you white people are the best at it? Let me be happy, gunpowder and paper are all invented in China. If you don't know it, go and study history. Now all the gunpowder and paper in the world are technologies stolen from China. If you don't understand, go to Wikipedia. There are also people who say that Chinese goods are cheap and garbage. If Chinese goods are not cheap, you will not even use toilet paper. Then you can wipe your buttocks with your fingers. Open your home and almost all the products are made in China, oh I forgot, what mobile phone or computer digital products do you use? 90% of your mobile phone is made in China, your clothes and shoes, etc., I suggest you throw away all these garbage, I suggest you go back to the stone age.
