My extensive research in fennec fox also confirm this: fennec fox loves kisses. These creatures will boop their snoot on your lips whenever you approach them with your lips. Thus I have concluded that fennec fox is simply the cutest thing in existance.

You can always tell when they like something because they go completely still and quiet. And then when you stop they'll stir awake and look at you, as though questioning why you stopped.

It's the cutest thing! Djinn also has started to ask for more scratches when you are petting too slow. It's no longer: "Hey, why have you stopped petting?" It's: "Why are you petting me so slowly? Put some effort into it, Hooman!"

I have been following Djinn for quite awhile now (he does elicit so much joy!) and I am curious.... When he is nipping (in play or disapproval) does he nip like he really means it or does he understand the boundaries (of biting to injure)?
@DjinnTheFennecFox4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching his videos for so long! When playing, his nipping is moderate. He doesn't really bite, he just keeps his mouth open and holds onto you. When he's biting to get his way (which isn't always possible) he still knows when it's too hard. However, he sometimes gets spooked which triggers his wild instincts (he then uses his scent gland too). His teeth can cut through your skin with ease, like a cat clawing onto you when it's scared of water. But then with quite large canine teeth! After he has calmed down, he immediately shows love again. That makes me think he understands his biting hurts. We've tried to teach him to quit biting by making "auch" sounds when he bit too hard during play-time. I think it definitely worked for the play-biting part :)
@sister_cattleprod4 жыл бұрын
@@DjinnTheFennecFox Thanks so much for the quick response! I wondered about his nipping because I raised a couple of ferrets decades ago... They learned early on that biting hard was not acceptable. I believe that many animals, raised from weanlings, do indeed learn quickly from the humans that raise them. Teaching them boundaries is very similar to raising a emotionally healthy child.
@DjinnTheFennecFox4 жыл бұрын
Yes it is! Djinn loves to cross those boundaries too.... Hahaha!

Djinn can't rub your chest or tickle your chin or massage your ears : he cant' groom you as a loving friend fox would do. On your shoulder, sometimes, he tries. But as soon as your lips are very near his tiny nose, his tiny muzzle, he can very gently touch them and express all his affection in his own language.

Well, they are fence buddies. Every time Djinn runs in the garden the cat comes and squeezes himself through the bamboo to have a look at Djinn. There's still chicken wire in between them and Djinn runs and jumps back and forth. Have you seen this video of the cat and Djinn playing? kzbin.info/www/bejne/a6vXh3ZtprmdnrM
