On the wheels. I just bought some Hope Pro 5 hubs, which I am going to build up with some DT Swiss FR541 rims. Good to see you made it out to Canada, we ride mostly at Vallåsen Bike Park.
@Frorideism Жыл бұрын
Ohh yes was looking at the hope pro 5's too, looks like a good mix with the fr rims too, Also I found a pair of CB synthesis for a very decent price but I've only heard shite about their hubs so I don't know.. Oh well then we've maybe met some time haha I used to be there every other weekend a few years ago 👍 Love Vallåsen

I'm running DT EX511s on I9 Hydras right now, no plans to upgrade but when I do I'll rebuild the hubs with some carbon rims. SC Reserve and Envy are on the list, lets see what the budget is when I need them... 😉

interesting.. hope rotor wouldnt fit on my Tyee 5 because the inner section of the rotor would not clear the stay...
@Frorideism Жыл бұрын
Yeah frame clearance is bad with the floating discs but: get a pedal washer and you put it on the axle! On disc side, it gives you a bit more clearance to fit floaters 💪

Hi, long time no video. Love your idea with the cables. Think of trying the same with my tyee al. Are there any disadvantages about that? You could make a whole video about that😂 thanks man
@Frorideism Жыл бұрын
🙌 Only thing is over time I wonder if the cables will get rubbed by the chainstay that they pass close to, not sure, On the other hand my previous cables got damaged alot from being so close to the ground so maybe still better off here. Oo yeah may do that 🤔👌

Nice. Works angleset is a good one also. My Spindrift is awesome with the slacker HTA and separately with 220 rotors and the STFU. Other than that it’s bone stock and running sweet.
@Frorideism Жыл бұрын
Oh for sure, I was debating getting an angle set and doing the mullet thing with 180 travel up front and counter the head tube angle with the headset , sort of the remi setup.. 220 rotors must stop you quite well na? 🦅
@bimfred Жыл бұрын
@@Frorideism yeah I live in the Alps so the brakes get a lot of use! My HTA ought to be 63deg now (because I run 190mm zeb also and I believe 10mm more fork slackens by 0.5) and I only and seeing an upside to the change, even on less steep trails. I think mullet-ing your Tyee would slacken the bike but I don’t see it necessary to correct it. There is some detail on some of the propain/pinkbike forums
@Frorideism Жыл бұрын
@@bimfred ha yeah those long descents really put them to the test, I did top of the world in Whistler 2 weeks ago and really had to think about not overheating. A lower bb if doing mullet, that's probably my main concern, Hard to choose when buying wheels for 2k 🤧

Nice video and nice bike. ✌🏼 Maybe there is the chance to test the Tech 4 brake levers once, which are claimed to be an improvement. The calipers are supposed to have remained the same. I am curious about the next Update-Video🤘🏼
@Frorideism Жыл бұрын
Well thank you Moe! 💯 Yeah Increased leverage and new type of 'bearings' on the tech 4s. Caliper is sort of the same but with steel lined pistons, I think going from T3 E4 to T4 V4 would be a very noticeable change but yeah it's not free, Thanks for watching bud 👌

Hey question on the BB. With the ISCG tab adapter did you need to remove a spacer from the bottom bracket? Or does it still have one with the ISCG?
@Frorideism5 ай бұрын
Hey no have not removed any spacers on the bb. Did have to remove the spacers on the actual ISCG bash guard mount recently though since I mounted an Ochain device and the bolts were rubbing against the backside of it.

So weird the way experiences and opinions differ. I've built my stumpy evo with Newman EG30 rims, they are 3 years old at this stage and I cannot even put a dent in them. That being said, I do run an insert in the rear but run really low pressures f/r. Had DT swiss 511 rims before them and even with an insert I would dent them every ride. DT swiss spokes yes, rims no..

Strange. I rode the NEWMEN Evolution SL A.30 wheels and they, withh upgraded spokes to SAPIM CX-RAY, and they where super good. I'd keep em if the hubs weren't the old version that does not have a MS-body...{sad face}. Not super stiff so pretty shit for bike park laps....which almost never do so ..who cares :P But yeah. The EX511 are really good - but heavy.

Idk my dude, Iv'e heard people enjoy their carbon hoops! So it's probably not all bad. But almost all I hear about when it comes to the EG30's and also their base model is problems and problems, same for me, spokes coming lose each ride, they feel spongey and well I broke mine in half too. With Cushcore lol. Depends on riding style though, if not pushing them hard I think they're probably as good as any other rim.
