In CM 01-02 I played 37 seasons for Hajduk Split and I'm not even Croatian. Promoting generations of young players, winning the Champions League, selling them, watching them become legends for their national teams, signing them back when they were old, offering them non-playing roles over and over again. It's been almost 20 years of my life since I've been playing this game. And then I modified the database to make the retiring legends of the 80s and early 90s young again. Romario, Jurgen Kohler, Davor Suker, David Ginola, Tony Adams all of them younger by 10-12 years. It has been simply amazing to sign Steve Nicol again for Liverpool and watch him develop into the legend that he once was. Many other players as well. This game is still breath taking today as it ever was.

Ah mate, I already slapped a like for you going on about all the games that either I'd played or everyone else played, like Sensi Soccer back in the day, but Champ Manager 01/02, I had exactly that one, managed Chelsea and Boca Juniors, I'll never forget my line ups or the fact that many a time the rosy fingers of dawn would be creeping across my wall from just wanting to play a few days on more, or with trying to find that left back to back up my crocked first team option. It was definitely the fact that you could play in any league in the world like so many others have commented on here that was so amazing at the time.

Champ Manager 01/02 was almost the perfect blend of simplicity and just enough detail to keep you interested. Unfortunately, unless you use House Rules to prevent you buying all the 'cheat' players (Kerr, Duff, Tsigalko, Skalidis, Dunwell, Selakovic,Samba, Mokouko etc) and/or WIB WOB tactics its just too easy to win with any team from any country.

i want a football manager that the season time are adjustable like you want to 23/24 and in new career 10/11, but it seems impossible to find this game

For me the best was Player Manager 2002. LMA Manager was good, FA manager was ok, and as a kid Treble Champions 2 was the one I spent the most time playing

In CM01-02 I played about 30 seasons, I had two main jobs. West Ham where I won everything twice before they sacked me as I couldn't avoid relegation and then relegation rivals Everton who I also couldn't save but took them back up and won everything with them...... but the real memories are losing out on cup finals or the title on the last day, They still hurt. I think I spent more time scouting and rebuilding my team than I did playing matches - just the one transfer deadline. Obviously the players were all fictional after 10 seasons, including my two greatest ever players, both midfielders.... I still have the game, I still have the "No cd" crack for it and I still have notes on how to add the "Arse" command into the ini file to enable extra realism like players doing unsporting things.

FM 2008 was nice, but 10 seasons or so into the game it became quite linear and it didn't have much else to offer.

The Manager was way out of is time... I spend tons of hours, playing this game with my friends.. Wigan Atlectic as champions of europe.. yes sir ! 😀😀

I actually played fives with mark kerr a couple of times at the power league in Hamilton when he was in his early 30’s and he was a machine! Only played most of his career in Scotland , but even at that standard it was far too big a jump for me!

Agreed CM 01/02 on pc and CM 02/03 for xbox was the best CM series of its era and the best still now.. I’m still playing from updates from site called champman0102.com it’s insane CM game and the best by far.. maybe the only thing that’s missing is the 3D engine if this was involved then no CM game in the future can beat it..
