Banished is easily my most played game. I love that it's more about survival than expansion and that your main resources is your population, not gold.
@LittleMew1332 жыл бұрын
Is it infuriatingly hard? I'm thinking about getting it but I don't want to feel defeated when failing repeatedly like some other survival games
@zombieowen2 жыл бұрын
@@LittleMew133 I wouldn't say it's hard, but there isn't really a win state, and you don't always why something is happening. There are systems upon systems and it has its quirks. There's no real endgame, so once everything feels stable, your community is happy, fed, and your storage is stocked, it doesn't feel like there's anything to do. But getting there is a fun challenge. You can't be too quick or too slow. It's like a bonsai. You're looking for rhythm and balance. The fact that the main resource is people and not currency is honestly my favourite thing. If you lose, it's not because you didn't have enough money, it's because people had to walk too far to work and got hungry and sad. Happy to talk more if you like.

This is going to be quite specific, but I've been hunting for a specific kind of strategy game for a while now. A grand strategy game where you build your own nation from the ground up, much like Civ6. Except there is an emphasis on how you organize your society; how you distribute resources, how you assign jobs, even going so far as to model your own government in your own unique way. Your culture forms as you press on though the ages, and management becomes more complex. The history of your people will determine their cultural values. You'll need to deal with loyalty, famines, war, all through completely dynamic supply chains of resources and influence. Does anyone know of any game that at least moderately matches that description? Please bring me your suggestions.

That's a cracking list, and I've played them all in some manner or another. Management games are probably my favourite. As a life-long simmer myself, I'd probably say Sims 3 is the best, but I think it's a matter of personal opinion - Sims 2 was the best until Sims 3 got a number of updates and DLC. Sims 4 never quite hit the right mark for me, but again, that's probably subjective. I might argue for games such as Planet Zoo, which is more of a management game than Planet Coaster, and Parkitect to be on there too, but this list of games is definitely up there. Can't see a game that doesn't deserve to be played and loved.
@oculus47793 жыл бұрын
I'm not a big fan of Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo, I think the management aspect of both were a bit shallow. Parkitect was great though. Just my opinion.

@@oculus4779 Fair, PlanCo has basically zero management, but Planet Zoo is actually pretty complex when it comes to looking after the animals and staff. Having said that, it's incredible what you can make in PlanCo.

@oldvlognewtricks3 жыл бұрын
@@nightcatarts In that case, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it. It seems like it might end up being an RTS, but the play needs to be optimised to a degree where you’re hunting for the dots on a track that the game hasn’t made obvious. Certainly doesn’t have a whole lot of ‘settlement’ if that’s your thing - there are better options to scratch that itch.
@nightcatarts3 жыл бұрын
@@oldvlognewtricks Ah okay, good to know. I quite like the idea of a PVE RTS where the objective is to survive as long as you can against increasing numbers, but if it doesn't give you that much freedom in building then it doesn't sound right.
