Heat was my game of 2022. It’s just soooo much fun! I love deck builders, and although it isn’t one it’s almost a deck deconstructed, trying to manage the heat, I love it. 1:58:28

Excellent lists all around and several games I never got to this past year. Heat & Foundations made my own top 10 for 2022. Noteables I was a little surprised didn't make anyone's list: Skymines, Ready Set Bet, Wayfarers of the South Tigris, and Frosthaven. I suppose, with what did Dave say...4000+ options for 2022...there are bound to be games that didn't get played and I suspect we will learn of many hiedden gems down the road with more time. Great video and thnks for doing a top 10 Lincoln, even though it's not your favorite thing to do.

I am so pleased that you guys did this!👏👏 Each participant executed their part so well! Thank you for taking the time and effort. Watched and enjoyed every minute of it! THANK YOU AGAIN! Heat must be great. Wish I had a group to play it with. I do plan to pick up Splendor Duel to play with my wife.😊

Or anywhere else, to be honest. This is also my top game from 2022, as it offers both a very compelling gameplay, and it is also something unique, which you don't get to see so often. It doesn't mean there weren't any other good games, it's just John Company really stands out when compared to the rest.

Ricky Royal does a great teach on his channel on YT called Box of Delights.

@zhivik Жыл бұрын
@@stevegeorge7773 True, though he does only solo playthroughs (still very educational and entertaining). If you want to have a look at a multiplayer playthrough, I strongly recommend the Guerric Samples Games channel. It features people who playtested John Company while in development, which is why they know the game intimately. Also, that group has a great sense of humour, so it is a delight to watch :)
@stevegeorge7773

@@zhivik Yea, I know of the YT channel. To be honest, for me, it's not that great IMO. They don't explain the rules, they just play the game and it is hard to understand and grock what is going on. Its like this for most of the games. The proportion are them just playing the game and with something like JC its very hard to get what's happening. There is no degree of understanding that peep-ples visiting the channel are not as well versed, familiar, if at all, with the games they are streaming. As most of the games I would consider very ascerteric, niche, in nature (with the exception of Root), that lack of explanations, or proper step flagged teaching, about why certain actions and decisions are made makes it a hard channel to want to visit. But I have enjoyed one or two of their game plays. Ricky Royal on the other hand who does deep solo plays of John Company explains the whys and hows of decisions and its/their effects and what can or could be considered. I think I am more in his camp of teaches than the other YT channel. These are very strongly connected to what I would explain, or think about in a multiplayer game. But that you for the kindness of the suggestion and my apologies for the long winded reply.
@zhivik
@zhivik Жыл бұрын
I completely get where you are coming from, and it is a valid criticism of Guerric's channel. I should have said explicitly that I don't recommend people going there if they don't know anything about the games they are playing. If you want more explanations, Heavy Cardboard are doing a good job with that, though Edward is sometimes overdoing it, in my opinion. In all fairness, though, John Company is a very procedural game, and it is not that hard to get into it. In fact, I would argue that it is one of the friendliest heavy games towards new players. Of course, there is a difference between understanding the rules and being able to play well, which is the real challenge with John Company :)

Great watching you guys you are such a class act. Love Dave, Lincoln and Nikki (and Aaron) especially when you do your playthroughs as your personalities work so well together. Aaron seems to spice the playing up as he seems to like to win a lot which I think knocks off a bit onto other people playing. Love Candice too, not seen her before on your playthroughs but not seen them all yet, would be great to get her on with you 3. She shows such great enthusiasm for the games she likes and also seems to like a different type of board game to Lincoln, Dave and Nikki some of which would be great to showcase.

Nice to see you guys doing such a list... However not a great fan of Heat here... Only seen the base track and played it once but looks like it's always the same, straight and wait for a turn. I can be wrong but that's my opinion for now ☺️. Love Wonderland's War, First Rat and Ready set bet though. Best game for me in 2022 is Marrakesh by Stefan Feld and my surprise game Trekking through history (Would love to see you guys play those two)... I'm also surprised long shot the dice game didn't make any list

Long Shot the Dice Game would have to make my top 10 list for the year, I was sad none of you had it on your list. Great roll and write meets racing meets betting game, with fantastic components and very low price point, it checked all the boxes for me. If you haven't played it yet, you really need to, as I think it's the perfect GameNight game. I also had E.T., Planted, Next Station London on my list...anything else I would put on the list would be games I WANT to play, but haven't played...I'm just not keeping up with new games, and I'm fine with that. Searching for those evergreens, and avoiding flash-in-the-pan games.

When you click the search in upper right, instead of typing in a name of a game, there's an advanced search option. Click advanced search. Then fill in whatever fields you want. If you want games from 2022, just put in the date range - 2022 to 2022.

1:09:38 - Dave should try Dice Theme Park! Great game with a similar feel to Dice Hospital, but by different designer. Both are Alley Cat games. Dice Theme park I find thematically funner, since ones piping down ate people leaving your theme park, not people dying out of your hospital! 😮

Dice Theme Park showed up a while ago on Board Game Arena. I read the rules, watched a video, and played it with my friend, Mike (we're always checking out the Beta section there). But neither of us were blown away. And the next time we "met" there, we talked about trying it again... but neither of us really felt it enough.

I am not sure when it will happen.. however they will be releasing a cheaper version of Foundations of Rome eventually. They told me that during the most recent Kickstarter. I don't believe it'll be using the same name of course. But they're very much aware that people want a budget friendly version of the game.

Dave, have you played On Tour, Railroad Ink or Kokoro: Avenue of the Kodama? Those are 0-interaction games as well, all 3 quite good.
@davidarnott4850
@davidarnott4850 Жыл бұрын
I have played On Tour and Railroad Ink. Kokoro: Avenue of the Kodama looks like another game I have player with letter connections that I can't remember... but I don't think I've played this one. On Tour was just okay, and I was fairly disappointed with Railroad Ink (a handful of plays on BGA only).
@tiagomarques9822
@tiagomarques9822 Жыл бұрын
@@davidarnott4850 Kokoro is indeed a different version of the game Avenue, with a couple of extra content. It has dry erase boards instead of blocks of paper, a deck of cards with both player powers and restrictions to change the way the game is played and a die to randomize where certain features go in the boards. I get what you say about the other two. I do like them, actually On Tour more than Railroad Ink. There’s another game I remember watching you guys playing and that I have in my wish list right now: The Guild of Merchant Explorers. I don’t remember much player interaction: did it have some? But well, to each their own: my wife is happier the less other people mess up what she is trying to do in a game, even if at the end she comes in last, and neither does she like to interfere with others’s plans. For her, being able to fulfill her plan is the most important thing. I’m not like that, but neither do I like lots of interaction negatively affecting too much what the others do.

They posted an update blaming covid for the game not being out, then went total silence. Nobody had even logged into their account on kickstarter until nov 2, 2022. even after they logged in, they left no updates or comments.
