I’ve been laid up with a back injury and I re-watched it recently it’s the second time I watched it and I was so hooked on it was like this is so ridiculous why do I keep watching watched all six seasons in about a week I’m 61 years old. And on top of that Serena just decided she didn’t wanna go to Brown like what the... That just didn’t add up at all. Like I know they tried to make it seem like she got in bcs it would seem good to the press but then she also got accepted to Columbia. Now I know serena’s rich and all but it’s really not that simple to get into any of those colleges especially for someone with her gpa. Blair would have gotten into Yale over Serena except that they wanted to change their social image and appear cooler, hence, Serena. That's why Blair was literally next on the list after her. Blair would have probably gotten into the other Ivy's except they said that she didn't apply to any since Yale was her dream and she thought she would be guaranteed a place. Serena seemed to have gotten into both Brown and Columbia since she was a legacy since her parents attended both. Unfortunately, it never had anything to do with her GPA which made her character come off as even more irritating and entitled. Blair might have been rich but she worked damn hard for everything she got unlike Serena who seemed to think that her good looks and charm could carry her through life.

(Also because serena makes her feeling bad for standing up for herself). Sure she cuts serena out of her life in season 5, but that was after serena slept with her bf -again. Blair has a lot of surpressed anger issues, no wonder if you look at her mother, so she cant handle (and express) feelings very well. But later on she learns with Chuck and dan to be vulnerable and open herself (though i really could've shook her about the whole "triangle" thing which we all know never really Was one). Serena on the other hand, has no selfrespect or remorse whatsoever. She was spoilt from the beginning, because her father left and her mother always married. She knows how to wrap everyone around her finger, because "she knows they love her", like with dan. She has to buy the affections of other somehow. Of course she had to raise herself and her brother. But the problem is, if her "technique" doesnt work, she runs Amok, every Single time, even when shes like 25 and finished with college. The only almost healthy Relationship was between Lola and nate. It seemed just natural and i was kinda sad that she left the Show.

Dan wasn't actually the initial choice to be Gossip Girl, which is why it doesn't add up in the first two seasons. The original Gossip Girl was actually Eric, but early on in season 2 some tabloid guessed it was Eric and wrote their reasons as to why, so the writers changed it to Dan to avoid suspicion at such an early stage, as they thought it would be the smoothest transition due to Dan's writing capabilities. Am I only one who thought that Gossip Girl was Vanessa in the beginning? Here are some reasons why: 1) Vanessa hates upper east siders... so why not reveal all of their deepest and darkest secrets on a Gossiping page about them, written basically by them to show how they can basically betray each other just like that 2) Okay so the introduction is when Serena comes back (as far as I know) and we all know that Vanessa was in love with Dan (and maybe still is) so that’s why Gossip Girl has most of the secrets on Serena or her friends, maybe as a way to show Dan that being friends and having relationships with them is “wrong” and that’s he means nothing to them 3) She could’ve gotten all of her secrets from Serena (while they were so called “friends”), Dan or Jenny, and Juliet who were all really close (or at least kind of close) to Nate, Chuck and Blair and upper east siders in general 4) in episode “The Townie” (4x11) Gossip Girl emails Blair and Dan back by giving them Damian’s address and says something close to “go get that b*tch” (idk) and i can explain that. Vanessa was mad at Juliet for basically getting her in the scam all along so she wanted revenge. But she couldn’t just post it on Gossip Girl since she didn’t have any proof and that would make people question the posts and whether or not they were true or just rumors, so that would make a lot of people stop reading Gossip Girl, which would make Vanessa’s plan fail and a complete waste of time plus they would question about who actually sent it in; Vanessa or Jenny? Of course Jenny could’ve gotten away with it easily, since she’s kind of an upper east sider and everyone would try to harm/ threaten Vanessa (including Dan, her boo) so she had to lay all the dirt on Juliet and think that Dan would forgive her. Also, if he is Gossip Girl, then how did he send that email? I don’t see phones/Dan’s laptop laying around anywhere 5) We don’t know what Vanessa is doing most of the time, since she isn’t the main character. 6) why not team up with Georgina and make everyone think that Gossip Girl was her all along? It would make sense and no one would question it. Another one is Diana Payne. They said she had some deep history with GG, but that didn't make sense because she wasn't from New York and didn't go to high school with them which is what the site focused on. Also, I think Dan creating the site made sense, but they shouldn't have claimed he kept it for as long as he did. I think he should've started it, then Jenny took over when he started dating Serena, then maybe Dorota or someone took over when she left, then Georgina after the accident, then Serena, then maybe those two girls who always followed them around. That also would've lent to the "everyone is Gossip Girl" thing because they all sent in tips. Also, the Charlie, Lola, Ivy thing was dragged out for way too long. Just my opinion though.

Did you always know Gossip Girl would be Dan? Were there any other names tossed out? We never really entertained any other ideas of who Gossip Girl was. It was whether we were going to reveal it. Interestingly, in the pilot episode, the test audience thought that Dan was Gossip Girl. We actually had to re-edit one of our sequences. It's when he's on the computer looking at Gossip Girl, the way it was edited that he was typing as the voice was coming up, people thought that they were being told that he was Gossip Girl. So we actually had to re-edit that sequence. This is from an interview with the writers and as you can see they had to change the first episode because otherwise people would already know it was Dan. They knew from episode 1 it was going to be dan andere hadnt thought of any other options

Lilly and Rufus didn't end up together I think. I confess that I stopped watching after S4 or S5 but I watched the last episode just for the sake of knowing who the gossip girl was (lol) and if I remember correctly they didn't end up together because Rufus was with another woman. I'm not sure if Lilly ended up with the doctor or if he was just there attending her daughter's wedding.

I was under the impression Rufus was sitting next to Alison (Dan's mother) at the wedding. Otherwise, I think Lily did go back to William, but with open eyes. She is the kind of woman who desperately needs a man as shown by her many husbands and the fact she picked Bart only because she wasn't sure if Rufus would leave her or not.

I always take Dan's "reactions" to GG blasts as him reacting to the news he was going to have to post. It makes so much sense for him to be GG. The was the writer of the group and the only one with the emotional capacity to be able to compartmentalize his life and being GG. Any other character would have manipulated the blasts for their own gain (as evident when Serena and Georgina we GG for a while). The only time when it wouldn't make sense for Dan to be GG is the last episode of season 3 where the picture of him and Serana gets put on website while they were still sleeping, but even that's explained because they found out that it was Jenny. She didn't just send a tip as we think during that season, she posted it herself. Not to mention, it just fits with Dan's personality to be GG. He wanted in so bad, he found a way

That woman is the lady seen in maybe season 1 or 2 at one of Rufus’ concerts. Her and Rufus ended up together.

My biggest problem was the cellphones. That bothered me. By the time the show was in it’s second season, the world was already moving in the smartphones. Yet, these super rich kids had these “free, with a two year contract” keyboard phones. Bugged the hell out of me. I know Verizon endorsed the show, and they probably picked phones that would be attainable for teenagers who watched it, but still. I mean, these kids had enough money to send everybody in this comment section to college, three times, and they were sporting the LG Chocolate. Really?

The world already had the iPhone 3GS at that time and they were still using keyboard phones. That’s not typical of wealthy kids in the US AT THAT TIME.

Dr. Kitty McFluffyballs I think it was to make their social interactions relatable for most of kids, who are not rich and can't just get the latest I-phone, I was in highschool around that time and those were the type of phones the parents bought for kids. You have to realize that everything else in their social lives are just not relatable to medium class kids.

When I think about it dan was the most logical one to be gossip girl. 1) He was always the writer out of the bunch. 2) he had the most information out of everyone.3) And he always wanted to be part of the upper east but he would always be lonely boy. 4) he always liked to write about his friends for instance he wrote a book about them.5) he was always on his computer writing.😂

Agreed, I am not saying these people are wrong but I never saw any signs in the first two seasons that would lead me to believe it was eric then again it being dan was stupid too
