Dylan what you don't understand is that the Imagine Dragons song WAS indie at the time the episode was released. It became popular afterwards. Gossip Girl had phenomenal indie music throughout the show and had the same music editor as The O.C. It's often considered as having one of the best music soundtracks of any show in tv history. Only the first few episodes of season 1 (and a bizarre Lady Gaga guest star episode) heavily feature popular music.

He honestly deseved that ending because he went through some of the worst pain.

His only redeeming trait was that he loved Blair. Other than that he was still an absolute nightmare most of the time. Chair played hot and cold far more than actually being vulnerable. I loved when he talked to lily, he needed a stable adult in his life. He did the same thing to jenny five years later, sure she said he didn't hurt her but he was also an adult and she wasn't. Liking chuck bass is screaming "I can change him!!!" Behavior which you usually can't. He sold Blair for a HOTEL and only did it to threaten jack. He didnt care about the collateral damage which was a person. And yes he apologised but seriously how can you apologise for that? Pull something like that and youre normally out of that life. It's terrible and abusive and Blair even said so herself. He gets away with a lot of terrible things scott free, and I'm not even talking about just the assault. He never really gets called out in the show, not in a way that had a lasting effect. It's just because he is good looking. He has pretty privilege.
