Your list of honorable mentions had my head spinning. For a short time, I couldn't fathom who could be #1 if those mentions were only that. I couldn't help but smile when Elvis appeared on my screen. He came out in my mother's generation, but he became multi-generational by having the same effect on my generation. There is a story of Elvis in my family. We lived in Riverton Heights, Washington State (now incorporated as Tukwila). A boy in my brother's class told him that Elvis was a friend of his family and was visiting them. My brother, knowing how much our mom admired him, told her this. She asked how he knew, and after hearing, told him that the great man deserved his privacy. She did not go knocking on anyone's door. He died not long after.
