It's impossible to list the best guitarist. What is being the best? the most skilled ? the one who wrote the most memorable songs ? All the guitarist you listed are most probably 10 times better technically than Brian May but not sure if they will be 'remembered' as much as him, he wrote better selling and memorable songs than Dream Theatre; and I say this but I don't particulary enjoy Brian May playing or Queen in general ( I know i know don't hit me..) while I enjoy Yngwie early albums a lot. These list are 99% of what the uploader prefers/know, and that's normal.

@@ShredmasterScott The little known B-side of Dante's Inferno says this "If it be true that the road to Heaven slopeth so that by this art we can ascend, or be fallen to this imagined chase" He had not finished telling me this plan, but with a smile his fingers played With all things outspread, talent showing forth. My love of music fell upon me at once, as those tunes I heard in mine cradle reminded me, and seeing him dance through fire and flame I knew he cared more for his skill than charity. He then smiled, and his pride rose further, and he revealed who he was by treating that thing he held as a harp, as broken notes leapt forth. Arpgeggios seduced mine ears, as we rode through hell, And I knew who he was, and from what cold land he hailed, and that your fingers cannot play on air as his did then. Coldly he smiled and said 'Afore this ridge is crossed, you must know I am better than you, and for my Master you must tell me for what this art is made'. With tongue stuck on the roof of my mouth, Soul still afire with what was played, and foot and leg still trying to follow that many-tempered beat, I replied all things are done for pride, or for pay, called avarice, or for charity, that is the Holy Ghost dwelling in the mind (1). Around us, those that lived about that ridge hissed and snarled, For they were lost to that, as they were much else, And to then charity was a curse word, to be thrown at the weak and the poor. And as fingers played at speed, so too did my mind, as I recalled the day the music lived, rocked all over the world, and breathed charity with every breath. For as that man, who lately gave up the gear as it was crap, And who is said to have a picture that gets younger and younger, said of playing in front of a hundred thousand souls, with that old singer who sang of Watchtowers and of Rolling Stones "Yeah, first time before a paying audience. Course we didn’t get paid.” (2) My tongue, trippingly as if Brubeck had commanded it then said "What so ever you do for the least of mine, you do for me" And a heavenly chorus then resounded, with those words that echo that parable of rich men and the eye of the needle Were said, and The Holy Spirit moved, and 'Give us your fucking money' reverberated in the hearts though those words were not said by any Irishman on that day"

SHRED, dear Maestro, I challenge you to do a Top 10 Guitarists list of guitarists that never make it to the Top 10 Guitarist Lists, but should! 🤘
@RisingSun963 жыл бұрын
Solid list for sure, I don't know whether I agree with the order, besides of course Jimi Hendrix being at number 1, for being the most innovative, soulful and downright insane guitarist in regards to his techniques. He was the Jesus of guitar as Yngwie himself said, and a human pedalboard as I like to say. Speaking of which I'd take out Clapton and Kirk Hammett from that list and replace them with Marty Friedman and Ritchie Blackmore (he practically introduced neo-classicalism to metal or at least was a huge influence).
@sinisterminister64783 жыл бұрын
Well that's the thing. These best of lists are purley subjective.They are based on the personal tastes if the person making the list. Every person would have a different list in a different order each being just as valid the next one. One thing I do find entertaining though is all the non- musicians who just nuts on each other on who's the best. At least musicians discussing these lists can usually have an informed civil discourse. Then you just have assholes who just have to be contrary about everything.
@RisingSun963 жыл бұрын
@@sinisterminister6478 Well actually I believe these list on "Top10 lists" are made by a community then people themselves vote, I myself have voted on many before, hence why I find it pretty accurate, however I would've put Iommi way further up and Gilmour at 2nd place. Completely agree about the last point you make there though, maybe it's a sense of knowledge of the instrument which helps, or just an ear for music.
@mosescandjent6653 жыл бұрын
I think it’s more over influence and recognition over anything else. Hate him or love him, I’m sure Kirk’s solos are more widely known than most of these other guys.

These "GGOAT" lists are deeply flawed in that they don't take into account genre. All the players on the list are great rockers, (and could clearly outrock Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, Chet Atkins, Albert Lee, Martin Taylor, Segovia, Tommy Emanuel etc.), but are they really the greatest guitarists of all time? Hello, I agree with some of people on this list. Just not in the order of how you have it. David Gilmore, Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton were good over 50 plus years ago. That takes you to the early to mid 1970's. It's very difficult picking a top ten list of great guitar players in the history of Rock music. There are 1,000's of them around the World. But in my opinion there are 2 people who set the bar very high. Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen. In their prime they did unbelievable things on the guitar. Eddie was not the first one to ever use the tapping technique on a guitar. But he took it to an outer world experience like no other. Great video enjoyed it. Keep up the good work.

Only a couple of his picks are worthy of top 10. Dime should’ve been in Kirk Whammets spot for sure. He was such an innovative player and brought a whole ‘New Level’ of riffage to heavy metal.

Randy and Blackmore should be on there. Nothing against Slash or Clapton, but I find that Randy kicked open the door for modern metal and Blackmore was the one that started incorporating classical styles in rock before any other mainstream guitarists did.

Blackmore should have been on the list he started the shredder thing Also this list is “top 10 guitarists based on influence and Metallica cauz Metallica”
@marcthedashergd63213 жыл бұрын
I mean, kirk kind of made a big impact in the metal scene with his solo from One, but if this is about influence, Dimebag is a great contender and also if we are putting a Metallica guitarist, then James Hetfield is a better contender because his riffs are everything. He is the downpicking god, and also in my opinion, he has the best endurance and the best stamina because he can still play fast and also downpick for a very long time. The rest of us would've gotten carpal tunnel before he gets tired.

These lists of the greatest guitarists of all time are so subjective . It's all in the ears & hearts of the listeners as to who the greatest guitarists of all time are ! Not to say that I disagree with the choices that were made but the order is a bit "WRONG" !!! Sorry , my personal opinion . Also ... Where the hell is "Marty Friedman" ??? Why is he not on this list anyways ?! Muhahaha !!!
@samstackhouse5602 жыл бұрын
my 10, in no particular order: Eddie Hazel - P-Funk Townes Van Zandt Buckethead Paul Leary - Butthole Surfers Randy Rhoads Wes Montgomery Richard Thompson Jimi Hendrix Frank Zappa Peter Green - Fleetwood Mac

What upsets me is many people don't even put Guthrie Govan or Michael Angelo Batio on these lists. Michael Angelo Batio is one of the pioneers of the sweep pick and his dexterity and speed is insane, also he can play a guitar any way you hand it to him. Some other ones are Jason Becker, Eric Johnson, Paul Gilbert and Malmsteen.
@Vvykk3 жыл бұрын
Blackmore, but since Iommi is on the list, it's one or the other. Beck, though Clapton and Page have made the list, I guess Beck was odd man out. May, a good choice, but so would have been Lifeson. Gilmore is a solid choice and can make his guitar talk, but so can Frampton, Satriani and Vai. Slash, a solid choice, though Perry could have also made this list. Hammett seems like the only one on the list that doesn't really fit. This being a list primarily of hard rockers who wrote and played their riffs, runs, solos and melodies. Kirk would be better to be featured on a metal/thrash list. I would have have placed A. Young on this list instead. SRV, VH, and Hendrix are solid picks. But I would also mention, Sholtz, Kath, Frehley and Townsend.
