“Mahjong Master” is very difficult to get because not only do you have to learn the rules of MJ, you have to actually be better at it than most people, which is pretty hard if you haven’t been studying it for years.

I actually got Mahjong Master recently (and I've never played it outside of FFXIV); it's definitely not "free" but I think you may be overestimating the difficulty. You don't have to be better at it than most mahjong players, you just have to be better at it than most FFXIV players - which isn't nearly as hard because a large percentage of them are starting from a position of relative inexperience. Mahjong is super fun though. The initial learning curve is definitely on the steep side but once you get through it it's great edit: TBF, the achievement is still quite time-consuming; even if you play well you're still going to get dunked on sometimes, 'cause that's just how mahjong is.

A very difficult one (mainly due to the time investment) is 'How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Saucer'. It requires 7 other achievements to get and rewards you with 20 achievement points and the High Roller title. To get it you need 500 sanctioned Chocobo race wins, 1,000 Triple Triad roulette match wins, 100 Triple Triad tournament match wins, complete 100 GATEs, complete the 'Any Way the Wind Blows' GATE (which is heavily RNG-dependent) 10 times, and win a total of 1,000,000 MGP from both the Mini Cactpot and the Jumbo Cactpot. On the bright side, you don't have to play Verminion.

Hoo boy, the Jumbo Cactpot one. That shit took me approximately five years of playing it pretty much every week. Never got higher than 3rd place in that time (although I did get a 2nd *after* I got the achievement).

I saw this achievement and nope'd out immediately... Then one very lucky week I managed to get my mad bird ring and suddenly it was attainable. The grind was on and only a few months later I am a High Roller! I would never have attempted it if it weren't for the lucky jumbo win.

As someone who has collected 20k hoards, there's a pretty easy way to gather them all but it still obviously takes a lot of time. Go to HoH, start floor 1-10 and obtain a pomander of intuition, then start 11-20 and obtain a pomander of concealment. Once you have at least 1 of each of those you can go into floors 21-30 and once you enter pop your intuition, if there's a hoard you pop you concealment and run to the chest and get your hoard, leave then re-enter over and over seeing if a hoard is on that floor or not.

Easy, yes, but also the most absurd timesink in the game assuming average skill at all activties. Assuming you aren't the worst player in the world, no skill-based activity takes this long and assuming you aren't the unluckiest one, none of the rng-based ones take this long either.

The "Fish Fear Me" achievement has gotta be one of the rarest ones out there right now, and one of the most insanity inducing: You have to complete every entry in the entire fishing log, including all the Legendary fish in order to get it. For reference, all the big fish have insane conditions to appear, like along the lines of "must be midnight on the equinox under a full moon after the sunken city of R'lyeh has risen from its watery grave." And that's just to have a chance for the fish to bite (no guarantees there!). Oh, but it gets better: even if you are ridiculously over-geared for the fish in question (i.e. trying to catch the legendary fish for the Feast of Famine quest), there is still like a 50% chance that the fish will escape when you hook them, even if you're kitted out in BiS level 90 gathering gear that's been penta-melded on all pieces! I think my best friend is one of like maybe 2 people on my entire server who has that achievement. Of course, she's also got pretty much every other fishing achievement you can get as well (not sure if she's got On a Boat V which gives the "World-class Troller" title, but I know she's working towards it).

I’m still on the free trial. Mainly because you get so much content for free, and I can save money. But I told myself I would get the PotD title before then. 6 months of grinding and I’ve died to Behemoth on 180 so many times. I took a year break and recently came back and finally beat 180 just to die on 185. It’s so disheartening, but I will get the Necromancer one day.

You will, because you're doing the most important thing to get it. Trying. Again and again till you get it! I've only gotten to 10, I think it was 10. I kept dying on the very last floor of the first round. Same thing 5 or 6 times. I'm not usually that terrible I swear.. lol I haven't been back since that week. Maybe Ill do that after I get my warrior lvl'd Trying to get an easier achiev with 1 of each to 90. Just a lot of time. Good luck! Hope you got it.

The "Deeper End IV" probably is the rarest achievement over the course of the game. It was added in Stormblood and the earliest I knew someone getting it was in Shadowbringers after BLU was able to solo the prerequisite maps. "For the Hoard VI" was a lot more recent and got added with the new Eureka Orthos Deep Dungeon. For reference, the clear rate is about 1% for these 7 floor maps. To get 20 clears, on average you must farm a total of 2000 untradeable "Timeworn Thief Maps" between people that you can only get from doing Stormblood Gazelleskin maps. Nowadays, this is done via BLU 70 to solo the Gazelleskin maps but before it was a "MAP WITHIN A MAP" which caused this achievement to be so rare compared to you always being able to make progress on "For the Hoard". My wife and I got the "The Deeper End IV" that has the title "The Luckiest of Lords/Luckiest of Ladies". I and another person started the NA PUG scene so people can do this achievement without statics last November. This is after I failed two times before a few years ago because world visit and data center visit didn't exist. I went through this hell grind doing most of the farming for both of us so we can wear the title together and say "We're the luckiest because we found each other". :D

To discover 20,000 pieces of the Accursed Hoard, you're supposed to obtain and keep a Pomander of Intuition in your inventory for F51-60, then spam F61 (yes, only F61) with the Intuition active. If there is a Hoard, seek it out, then quit the duty and restart F61. If there isn't... well, quit the duty and restart F61 anyway. Do this for one month straight. No, I did not do this, but I met someone who did, and they explained how they did it.

People use bots for this actually and you dont even need the pomander since the treasures are always in certain spots so you can make bots stop and try to spawn the treasures at every location.

The hardest achievement I have is getting all the triple triad cards.... Its not even on here but I'm proud of my achievement for getting it. Its not difficult per se like a lot of these, just very time consuming and takes a while.

Just imagine .. it used to be even harder ... in ShB they changed card drop rates .. there were cards from NPCs that took me hundreds of wins to get that people now get in like 5 wins ... stings that it's so easy now to be honest LOL.

Oh hey, it's me! xD For real though, I think achievement hunting is a fun pass of time during content droughts. You can always find something neat and challenging. Over time you'll see all the different things in this game you've probably never even noticed the game has. Lord of the Verminion was incredibly fun, at one point I found a linkshell of like 9 players who were seeking games. Chocobo Racing sometimes has you falling in love with your race chocobo you just want to take him out and ride him in the overworld. It really makes the game truly feel like a standard final fantasy game!

"Hardest" and Time Consuming are not the same thing. Levequests and PVP will come with time just playing the game. The only truly difficult achievements are the ones for soloing Deep Dungeon. You need to be good at the game and have great RNG for Poms to get to 200 without a death. Ultimates would likely be the next toughest.

I know it's not *hard*, but the achievement I've got that I'm most proud of is the exploration achievements. Specifically, the ARR and Stormblood Vistas. ARR is a pain because not only do you have to find the vistas *without* a glowing blue orb highlighting them, but you have to find all of the first 20 in the list before the other 60 will even activate. This is made worse by the fact a lot of them are only available at specific times of day, during specific weather conditions. You might be in the perfect conditions to pick up #21, but if you don't have 1-20 you may as well not be there. So time consuming, and something I'm really glad they simplified for the expansions. Stormblood... The majority of the vistas are fine! Other than two of them. One, all the way at the top of the Shirokaze Hostelry. The view up there is fantastic, for sure. The other? All the way down at the bottom, on top of a lamppost you have to jump to from the top. If you miss the lamppost? Better head all the way back up, buddy. I got lucky, and once I finally got to the top and took all my celebratory screenshots, I took the leap of faith and managed to land exactly where I needed to. I don't think I could have handled it mentally if I missed. It took me hours to get to the top of the Hostelry. They're split between different achievements, too. The Hostelry is in [Oh, The Sights We'll See I] and the lamppost is in [Oh, The Sights We'll See II]. I'm a little sad Shadowbringers never got a second achievement, despite the one that's there being labelled as part I. Endwalker just ain't getting a second I think, since it doesn't even have the part number.

I forget the name of the achievement, but it is the ocean fishing one that gets you the best title in the game: "World-Class Troller." I think it is still less than 2% of players that have it, and it's been around since the debut of ocean fishing.

Quick few things, Rival Wings queues usually on Mogtome events and thats about it. Revival Discord puts events up for 2-3 hours a day a few days of the week also on the NA/EU servers 3k wins of frontlines is the worst PVP achievement because you need 9000 matches to complete it (with a 33% win rate) and is so painful XD For the Hoard VI is just a waste of time but can get 50 done an hour with certain tricks

Well, I'd argue that Ultimate titles, and in particular Heaven's Legend should be included as some of the hardest. They do have a high clear rate, but that's because a lot of people have that as their goal, the hard thing about Ultimates is that the fights are very difficult challenges. However the hardest thing about most, of the "hard" achievements is that it takes too much time to actually complete them, and most of them aren't even worth the effort, they're not necessarily hard it's just too tedious to sit through thousands of games of Verminion or Mahjong, that's a waste of time, where as clearing an Ultimate isn't.

I am sorry but that still makes those achievements hard. Otherwise everyone would have them. Don't believe me? "Theyr'e easy then, just go get them." See, not actually easy. If clearing an ultimate takes less time then it is basically an easier achievement to get, because you can get it with less commitment. Some of the hardest things are in fact the most trivial mind melting things that anyone sane would get bored of LONG before completing. If you don't have the will power to get them then I guess they are simply beyond you, and thus too hard.

Idk about that, man. Depending on your time commitments per day and your luck with parties, you can kill DSR in a month OR LESS on PARTY FINDER, of all things. And that is a reasonable timeframe. You might spend more time clearing a savage tier rather than an ultimate tbh. So it's not that big of an achievemet. What makes majority of the rare achievements special is that they are about niche things people happen to be passionate about: majong, fishing, solo DD, lord of verminion etc. Ultimates are a popular piece of content, so it's nothing special. They require higher commitment than savages, but not as high as Majong Master, Big Fish, Necromancer or Lor of Verminion. Ofc it's difficult in its own way, but any person who is capable of clearing Anabaseios Savage can clear current ultimates too... This is how content progression works.

Yeah, it's hard for me to respect any achievement flexes knowing this is the case. Not to say I don't believe *anybody* when I see their flexes. I've accomplished my own difficult achievements without bots, so it's not like genuine players aren't out there. But the whole point is to say you as a person accomplished this, the title literally has no worth irl, but if you take away even its in-game worth, all you have is text on a screen and a lie.

I'm sad that you didnt mention the most notorious achievement and the actual hardest achievement, luckiest of lords. accursed is rare because it came out in 6.4. so ppl have only had a few months to farm that. while luckiest of lords has been in game for 6 years now(came out during stormblood) and isnt that far behind accursed. final thought, i also wouldnt really say necromancer is rare, there are more necromancers on gilgamesh than there are luckiest of lords in the world. hope to see more achievement content in the future! we're a small community but we exist!

Necromancer is difficult as apposed to rare. Luckiest of Lords you can get done pretty quickly if you push for it (I got my last 13 clears in less than a month, I think someone else went harder and got all 20 done in a bit over that lol)
