I'm still figuring out his campaign on legendary, it takes a bit of practice. You can get around the island plague issue by using a second lord to just spread plagues. I recently completed a Nurgle campaign. I can state with confidence one thing : winning it is entirely up to how lucky you are with the Chaos Dwarves to the west. In my case i got insanely lucky and the Chaos Dwarves essentially manage to stomproll most of the western territories to my starting position. Thus after dealing with Ghorst and going straight for Grimgor, i didn't have to worry about what happened west. Cathay on the other hand... I'd say the worst thing about Nurgle is the plague mechanic... it's, weridly underwhelming for the most part and there's only a couple of them that are actually good (like the +20% physical save one is very powerful against non-magic attack armies - you can easily tank most of everything without even trying.) As for their buildings, economy and recruitment... i'm very conflicted : it's extremly powerful in late game but very difficult in early game. Brutally so. I guess i just have to be glad i got lucky with mine. But that's really not a campaign i'd look forward trying again any time soon.

I tried all the campaigns on this list, but Manfred is still the only run I've ever abandoned out of frustration, not boredom. His main gimmick revolves around the Books of Nagash and taking Castle Drakenhof, both of which are near impossible since every single faction that you encounter will declare war on you, even on Normal, so you end up having to fight every single turn just to keep your provinces. This means you can spend 50 turns not getting a single bit closer to your goal, and even if you could afford to send a top-tier army to get a book or Drakenhof, you wouldn't be able to force march since you'd end up losing the army to attrition. It really is funny how they finally fixed the Lustriabowl, only to replace it with the Arabybowl instead.

I was going to make a very similar complaint. So I will just add it here. I recently did a Nakai campaign, and it was one of the easiest most braindead campaigns I have done in all 3 total warhammer games. His horde growth is crazy, so you will have access to all your important buildings very quickly. The whole downside of his secondary armies can't use normal recruitment, is easily bypassed by transferring units from Nakai, and then recruiting new ones on Nakai. The Vassal income gets crazy very quickly if you rush it in the tech tree. I was supporting 6 full armies of temple guard, kroxigors, and Dinos by the time I cleared Snikch and started fighting Ghorst. Having access to blessed units anytime you want them from faction mechanics is also crazy. I moved around my armies in teams of 2 to avoid Skaven ambush stance. I just used encamp or astromancy. Not a single skaven army ever approached me except for Snikch main stack. He failed his ambush roll, and I curb stomped his army 2v1. Lastly, between skills, buildings, and victory conditions, you get access to a lot of heroes very quickly. Those hero turn into more Dinos with extra hero abilities very quickly as they unlock their mounts. Nakai's early snowball potential is ridiculous, but plateaus later in the game when you reach your maximum army cap. By then you can easily have both his short and long victory conditions completed.

For example, Nakai's first battle in manual resolve can be done with very low casualties, especially after they changed it to a major settlement. By starting on the front of the castle, walking down the left side to the farthest gate, breaking through and simply walking around the outskirts of the city into the main capture point to take it and defend it and if you play it well you can probably win the battle with no casualties. This List is just wrong. First place Markus? His campgain is the second easiest for the empire, because you do not have to deal with the authority (which is pretty hard compared with 2 because you have way more enemies now). You have an early Bretonnian ally and you do not have to high tier buildings to get high tier units and you are able to get a strong army early on (or just just him with a marksman doomstack and get a second normal army).

This list baffles me. Greasus is neighbours with Chaos Dwarves and Grimgor Ironhide. Skrag is a nice little stroll through the park in comparison. Eltharion has a much better campaign than Imrik as High Elves rely on trade and Eltharion has direct access to Ulthuan for this. Even Teclis has a worse campaign due to this lack of trade, which is why I would pick Imrik as the worst of them. Skarsnik??? Really? Really now? For real? Skarsnik is an absolute powerhouse campaign and super easy to fulfill its goal because you have insanely strong goblins at your disposal and you can spam armies out. He's the hardest greenskin, but that doesn't even bring him within top 20 hardest factions. Nakai might have a miserable faction, but he is super safe so there's literally no difficulty bar for him. Oxyotl and even Hexoatl are much harder campaigns if you avoid cheese, if you are willing to cheese a bunch then Oxyotl is one of the most overpowered factions, but only if you cheese. And then you pick Wulfhart over what is the nightmare as Karl Franz who has to juggle Seccessionists, Khazrak, and Festus... And if he accidentally went a bit too far south, or got vision of Grom, then Grom will also be a pain in the ass. If you manage to go too far west, you aggro Be'lakor, if you go too far north you invite the entirety of Norsca onto your ass... No, Markus by no means harder than Karl Franz, Markus is a somewhat miserable faction, but he's much stronger than Karl. So even within their own factions you are just objectively wrong about many of your picks, out of species you didn't mention I would argue that Settra, Khazrak, Malekith, and Ku'gath.

Lyoness and Skarsnik are probably two of my favorite campaigns to play. Skarsnik with goblins in early game is crazy good and his economy is great. I don’t think Markus is that bad as you can ally Rakarth easily. He hates everyone you hate more than he hates you. Then you can stab him in the back to take all of Lustria. The only issues in the campaign is Kairos, as he is with anybody near him, and the Dark Elves to the north who don’t care if Rakarth is your buddy.

Nakai was one of my more fun runs recently to be fair compared to the other Lizardmen anyway, conquering the coast, allying Cathay and taking the sea lanes over with three army stacks to save and confederate lustria from the rats, empire and bretonnia. He has way way more freedom than ANY of the other lizardmen Legendary Lords, he can wander north into the chaos wastes and be Lore friendly by bashing chaos or take the sea lane to the dark elves to help Mazda or the sea lanes to Lustria to help there. Some tweaks to how his AI cities work would be all he needs in my opinion. Seriously though I spawned in two AI armies and both decided to go on a pointless walk through Cathay, without military access, pissing them all off and having all of China declare war on them and subsequently me while I was in Lustria, safe to say though thats more an AI thing than specifically a Nakai thing but some rework to his cities and less reliance economically on this rando faction that *literally cannot build armies* would be ideal.

With Cylostra direfin i feel like i got the most close battles that i ever have constantly early on Like 2-3 units out of the 20 remaining at the end it was rough but a pretty fun challenge Also you mentioned that her not having lore of vampires is a downside, but lore of the deep is really strong as well so it doesn't hurt too much
@mattheww.6232 Жыл бұрын
Cylostra's main problem is the game starts her next to Taurox. He'll make the entire west side of the map a chaos wasteland then declare war on you when your best anti-large is a limited number of handguns. Even if you do manage to beat him down, now you are in a wasteland as a money starved sacking faction. Colonization just seems like your spending money for the next enemy to destroy VP's weak garrisons. It's almost like the expected campaign direction is a Warhammer 1-esk trap guiding you to a quagmire or doom and the "secret" strategy is to sell the buildings in the capital, sack the initial DE settlements, build up your ship and get underway to make money on the sea.
@Chfoulu Жыл бұрын
To get a wonderful campaign with Wulfhart, once I got all the settlements of Txanxla I went for the Bretonnians there so I had a good starting territory. Then I allied with Yuan Bo and went for the demons just south, the vampire coast on the east and slowly build forces to go for the Pestilens Clan who took all southern Lustria, and after that I went for the dark elves. Took me some time as they were spread out on the sountern and western coast but eventually I had all of Lustria for myself, I then went north for Mazdamundi and the campaign victory as well as east to invade Araby and Khemri

Repanse does have some allies in Nehekhara now. Volkmar and Thorek are both pretty close. Its a neat little triumvirate of Ordertide. Same for Wulfhart with Alberic. Albeit Id argue his start is worse than ever, because he IS your only friend in the entire continent. (You can try and save dwarf minor faction in the mountains, but unlikely.) All Lizardmen are hostile, and so are the baddies of Lustria. For more friends, you have to cross the ocean and trade with Ulthuan, just dont expect much help from them. Any invasions for Lustria only come lategame, if HE even survive. One good thing about Wulfhart now is that the random spawning armies via hostility can be permanently overcome. Somewhat surprised Karl and Kugath didnt make the list. Lot of people seem to agree theyre amongst the hardest. Karl certainly has a trying start, but as soon as you get lategame artillery, youre sorted against everyone. You should be able to make do until then. Id say about Boris kinda what you did. Try and kill Archaon, then just abandon the Wastes, help save Kislev, then return later. Agreed with Ogres, Vcoast and TK who made the list. Id say since they only ever had one DLC and very little touch-ups they do feel sucky for early game overall.

Honestly, Nakai should just get the beastman treatment but in reverse, building temple cities like herdstones across the map that benefit order races and prevent corruption of any type from being spread. Add unit caps and remove upkeep from units and increase building costs tenfold to compesate. the defenders get basic armies that you improve via your tech tree. So they would run an all skink army, then you unlock your second army and they get better skinks, third army unlocks saurus, and so on.

Playing as KF for the first time since Wh2. Everywhere I go I find new enemies in place of the ones I've just defeated. Khazrak was replaced by the Forest Goblins who were in turn replaced by the Norscans. Confederating Gelt brought me in contact with the Disciples of the Maw and Wurrzag. Waging war on Vlad brought Drycha and Bonerattlaz who were joined eventually by Skarsnik who exchanged Karak Eight Peaks for Karaz-a-Karaz. In this playthrough I am lucky Grom is constantly buisy with the Barrow Legion and Marienburg otherwise I'd have to wage war on him too and march across the Grey Mountains. For my non-agression pacts with the Dwarves I was rewarded with a declaration of war by Durthu. Clearly greenskins and undead are not as bad for Athel Loren as Humans. There is also red taint of Khorne all over the Southern Badlands. Oh and don't forget Festus the rightful Kurfurst of Hochland! Luckily I knew better to deal with him right away. Karl haven't been in Reikland for the past 50 turns and I am stuck to endless stacks of un-shielded spearmen and archers. No pistoliers, no knights, no cannons, not even crossbows... There is no time, there is no money, there is no one to march them from across the Empire to the frontier. A constant action with no pause. I think I'll do a High Elf dounut racing after that one and then try Get off my lawn Settra.

I think Tiktaq'to isn't as hard as other Lizardmen. I only got started playing VH campaigns before I stopped playing WH2 2 years ago. I just started playing WH3 so I'm only playing Hard until I get back into the swing of things. But the Terradons give so much power to the armies for such little cost that I find it makes his faction much easier. With TTT Terradons are the same cost as Goblins are so you can easily maintain 2 armies from the very beginning that I was never able to do with any other Lizardmen faction because Saurus are so expensive. The second armies with TTT don't have to spend as much to be effective because the Terradons are able to help more effectively break units. The only thing is he is more reliant on Lightning Strike than other LM factions because his power comes from one use per battle abilities.

Honestly if I had to re-work Nakai and Markus Wulfhart, I would do something like this: For Wulfart, make it so that the hostility meter only goes up when Markus captures cities in Lustria, fights Lizardmen Factions, or attacks Allies of Lizardmen factions. The meter would never go up in any other situation. Markus would also be able to make the meter go down by making peace deals with Lizardmen/gifting them gold and cities. Finally, whenever an army of the Children of the Old-one’s spawns, it will only ever spawn in the same province that Markus Wulfart is currently in. As for Nakai, I would say that he gets his own meter that represents how stable Lizardmen society is in Lustria. Stability goes up the more cities in Lustria are controlled by Lizardmen + the less corruption there is in Lustria. If stability is low then Nakai gets diplomatic penalties with Lizardmen, but also gets a campaign movment buff if around +50 percent, which allows him to try and fix the problem faster. When the meter is high Nakai gets diplomatic bonuses with Lizardmen + bonus income. This creates a situation where Markus is able to expand out of Lustria without needing to deal with the children of the old ones, and it also creates a situation where Nakai needs to spend his early turns rushing home to Lustria from Cathay in order to save it before it’s too late. Any thoughts on the idea? I would love to hear your own ideas on this topic.
@perrycarters3113 Жыл бұрын
To me it just sounds a little odd because I felt like Nakai starting in Cathay was cool, so sprinting for the sea lane to go back to Lustria feels like wasted potential. Maybe rework Nakai's campaign so that Nakai gains increased diplomatic bonuses when fighting against Corruption-causing factions that other factions are fighting? For example, gain bonuses from Cathay in return for helping them push back Chaos, eventually accessing a special kind of Military Alliance that also lets you recruit one or two factional heroes(not Lords, just Heroes). Additionally, maybe increase Nakai's limit on allied faction recruited units, but still limit it to maybe 2 per faction. You could flavor it as people from other factions joining Nakai's journey across the world to push back the forces of Chaos, Skaven and Undead, and give Nakai a unique skill line that benefits recruited units from other factions, so late-game Nakai could roll up with a half Lizardmen army backed up by a mishmash of other factions. Imagine a solid block of Saurus or Kroxigor backed up by dwarven artillery, Bretonnian cavalry and Cathayan gunners. Basically, Nakai is going on a sort of 'crusade', starting all the way in Cathay, and you're incentivized to fight your way back to Lustria the long way, gaining allies as you go so that by the time you ARRIVE in Lustria, Nakai has a stretch of alliances going all the way across the world, finally forming a semi-united front to push Chaos back once and for all.
@Chilled-Vivi Жыл бұрын
The Nakai idea is pretty much what Alarielle has, though the problem is that hes on the other end of the map, but at least there's a sea lane nearby his starting spot that leads to a spot south of Lustria I think? and after you get Lustria then its a bit of a dead mechanic, I would like to see something kind of similar to the Skaven food mechanic, just call it something like "lizard following" or what ever I'm horrid with names, and use it so he can use that resource to build up settlements or hoard buildings or even recruit instantly, the trade off being less casualty replenishment and stats, but the higher its inverted. idk do I look like I develop games?
@jackjones2454 Жыл бұрын
Honestly I love this idea much more than what I came up with t initially, but how about I add onto it a little bit: Nakai would start in Cathay and have about 100 turns to make it back home to Lustria to save it from a gargantuan invasion (humans or chaos either one). The catch is that alone Nakai stands no chance, and in turn by helping other races with their issues he can gain access to some of their units and heroes to help him stop the threat. He can never ally with Skaven or Chaos, but he can work out alliances with some neutral-ish factions like Orcs, Ogres, Tomb Kings, Vampire Coast/counts, and more. This allows for Nakai to either go in favor of the ordertide, ir the various “neutrals” he finds along the way.
@perrycarters3113 Жыл бұрын
@@jackjones2454 Honestly I feel like some Greenskins would LOVE Nakai. "Folluh da big scaley git. 'E goz to da biggest fights!" Cue Nakai leading an army with an infantry core of Black Orcs. Maybe play into the racial rivalries somewhat. For example, if Nakai makes an alliance with Greenskins, then they cannot make an alliance with Dwarf factions. If they ally with Vamps, can't ally with Empire. Things like that.

A bit disagree for the eltharion the grim... 1. Eltharion himself really strong even from beginning so he can manage with minimal unit in the Badlands until the main settlement at Ulthuan ready to provide him stronger unit. 2. His lord power that cut building garrison building time really helpful managing in the early. Even very helpful holding settlement from rebel longer. 3. In my opinion, HIGHELF has the strongest early, easy to recruit unit, its SPEARMEN and ARCHER. You can recruit them JUST from the main settlement building, so for the first 30-40 turn, you can still manage to survive with them while building your economic building at home. 4. The JAIL is really powerful... you can block any faction strongest hero, lock him inside for good, then wipe their territories, and it can be done from beginning. 5. The orc in the homeland, will eventually be taken care of, either by ourself or by Tyrion. (though i prefer by ourself since early orc really easy to be dealt with using SPEARMEN and ARCHER)

Nakai should just be rebuilt to play like the Chaos Warriors with you taking over "Temples of the Old Ones" and repatriating minor lizardmen factions as vassals to you, then add in a teleport like Ostyanka where he can move through magical forests. Then let him recruit feral dinosaurs & units like the chaos warriors and give his faction buffs for Croxigors & feral dinos and he'd be done. I mean, he's the Spirt of the Jungle, she should be bouncing around the map, bringing back minor lizardmen factions with hordes of Crox and dinos. Take your first settlement, recruit a full stack of Kossars, abandon your settlement and march off to wherever it is you wish you started at. All the Kislev factions love you and you don't have to play the dumb supporters game so you can confederate quickly. I played Boris recently and I migrated to Khazid Irkulaz where Azhag starts, kicked him out, and had Katarin confederated on turn 25 and Kostaltyn on turn 31. Easy stuff if it goes right.
