To me, the generation is the hardest to swap as a novice. Going from have a cigar to sorrow to on an island is just a wide variety of skills. So much to cover from 40 years. Gilmour can’t be completely replicated, but @mustyguitar’s ability to teach and play this stuff is top notch. So cool to think someone can do this.

Appreciate how ridiculously comprehensive this is, with all the backing, tabs etc. I just started playing a couple months ago after about a decade hiatus (33 now & started at 13 but never got good...) and floyd/gilmour are some of my favorite music of all time.. Trying to learn this stuff now so i appreciate this.

I think in the past months that I've seen your videos you have put out one of the best Pink Floyd guitar videos on the internet. Here are some of my suggestions for the hardest solos that I've still not mastered - 1. Careful with that axe eugene live at Stuttgart(~14 minute version) 2. Dogs 1st and pre-final solo 3. Cover of Have a Cigar by "The Main Squeeze" 4. Cymbaline Live version.

the 2.5 note bend in brick in the wall is absolutely crazy though. most difficult solo for me
@mustyguitar8 ай бұрын
I debated to add that or poles apart, they are close to each other in terms of skill, I landed on poles apart.

You are closest to Dave's sound I've heard. Congrats, man! P. S. How about making tutorial videos for this solos? And maybe Comfortably numb from Pulse, cd version? 😊
@thecarguy72388 ай бұрын
As someone whose played most these since 1994 when pulse came out, Nicely done. Pigs was the only one not right after the unison bends. But It’s a hard solo and I can’t play it totally correct either. But all the tones was damn close. You have to remember it’s a different sound when it’s 50,000 watts.

Absolutely love the Echoes, Fat Old Sun, Cigar, Pigs, Dogs and Sorrow solos and those are undoubtedly some of his best, but some other solos I'd include would be Mother (specifically The Wall Live version with the extended solo but the studio version is still absolutely classic), Another Brick (Part 2) (The Wall Live/Pulse versions and studio), Comfortably Numb (outro), Young Lust, Sheep, Not Now John, Money or The Blue (mainly because the Whammy pedal parts)

Raise My Rent sounded sick! Have a Cigar and Dogs needs work on the bends. You’ve got the attack but you’re not bending to the right note. Off a pitch sometimes high sometimes low.

@muhammadfauzan55138 ай бұрын
Ibsee that your tremolo arm still in full size, any thought on cutting that to Gilmour size? I think that would be handy in playing like Gilmour style. Anyway sick playing and tone man!
@hafstrat8 ай бұрын
Awesome. I can do a cod imitation of pikes apart and marooned. My bending is better developed than my fast licks.
Some of gilmours solos are hard because of the timing and phrasing such as the end of another brick in the wall part 2 try the last two versus . Its very difficult to sound like on the album.
@charlesockholmes97648 ай бұрын
Agreed!
@mustyguitar8 ай бұрын
I agree but it I consider poles apart and another brick solos the same stuff. They have exact hard bends.

Missing Comfortably Numb solos, Dogs first solo and harmony solo at end. Final Cut solos are big and bold, you’ve done them before

I have a question that I know was answered in an earlier video but I can't recall it. You play a lot thru a 5/15 watt tube amp I believe. Can you point me to what that amp is? I thought it was a Marshall but I can't remember. Much appreciated. Love these videos.

Yes..Yes I honestly can🤘🏻🎸🤘🏻 I have been playing since I was 6 and Jimmy Page/ Led Zeppelin & David Gilmour/ Pink Floyd are my guitar hero’s and favorite bands and I am getting ready to be 45 and been playing for decades everyday and when I was gigging in my younger days😂 but not as much now. I know I will sound old but this generation of music isn’t really music to me. The best is still what I grew up on 60s & 70s 🤘🏻 some of the 90s and there are a handful of bands that come out from time to time that are good and have talent but no one tops those guys or The Beatles & Deep Purple , Rainbow and The Doors.. anyways I have a lot of gears over the years as I never sell what I get and take pride like you should that you can actually play them. Keep rocking my fellow rocker and how about that rumored new David Gilmour album maybe this year? Also saying all that I got to see them 1x at least unlike Zeppelin which no concert next to seeing Jeff Beck will ever get topped🤘🏻

If you're talking about the live versions from the original tour of The Wall from 1980-81 or Pulse in '95 then I'm with you there, that's definitely one of Gilmour's most insane solos but the original is always gonna be a classic as well
