Once again I'd like to give a shout out to my main inspiration for making this countdown, Nathaniel Bandy. He made his own Top 10 on this subject matter ages ago. Needless to say, I was quite surprised by his picks.

One thing I like to gush over is how Mario controls in this game. I don't need a Flash Liquidizer Ultra Dousing Device to get him to land exactly where I want. That said, this adventure was quite easy after getting over that lost in space feel that seemed omnipresent through the whole game...
I'm just gonna say it like it is: this is in fact my favorite game of all time. I have mostly Rabbidluigi to thank for that.

Luigi's Purple Coins cost me more lives than The Perfect Run in the second game (somehow). It's even more of a perfect run imo. ONE wrong move and you're in the poison or falling through a disappearing platform.

Killerbeast 2508 I would say that galaxy generator is a *bit* harder than Luigi on the roof. Literally just do 10 steps, triple jump and you finish the level. I personally would say that it is on par with the normal star in buoy base.

The thing is, when I did Hidden Star on the Summit(no. 9 on the list) I actually found it accidentally before finding the first star in the galaxy. It was a bit tricky having pretty much no experience with either of the flowers except the hidden star at Beach Bowl.

My thoughts on these stars: #10: I found this mission more boring than difficult. Freezeflame isn't that open, so there's a limited number of actually clever places where Purple Coins can be put. That said, there was one embarrassing time where I was playing in front of my grandmother and I couldn't find the last 4 coins, as you said. #9: If you just spin next to the Ice Bats, they will flinch. After that, just observe the timing of the boulders and you should be golden. For me, finding it on my first playthrough was the hardest part, but this never took me more than 3 attempts. #8: Long. Especially Fiery Dino Piranha himself, who I actually found manageable. Just going in circles will allow you to avoid his charges and fireballs, and then, just time your spin when his tail puts itself out and that's it. #7: Hastiness is your worst enemy here. Just don't move too quickly in the first portion, and time each puff in the Bullet Bill section so you can breeze by the cannons without losing control. And don't let Star Bits or coins distract you. #6: Just time jumps, land on green platforms in a way you can make it back to Luigi's foot, and bingo. It might just be memory, but I never had any problems with the camera here. #5: Forgettable. I lost a life here once because I was rather rushed, but once I got used to how shells behave in this game, I made it work. The fish bones didn't impede me that much, so really it's more a matter of shell throw timing. #4: My cousin and I got stuck here when we played it at his house. The Star Ball is really imprecise at times when I intend to hold the Wiimote straight up, and the recalibration when an enemy knocks you into the air (those fcking Bob-ombs) is awkward. Even with adjustment, there are just so many places here where you die from the slightest thing that goes wrong. Calmness was my saving grace, and it will prove to be yours. Again, don't go for Star Bits that you have to point at to collect, because tilting the Wiimote forward will (of course) cause you to accelerate. #3: This was another star my cousin and I spent about 2 hours attempting. Back then, I didn't really have timing down regarding how to react at hazards, so we never made it to the namesake spire. Now, however, I can routinely pass this on my first attempt. Again, don't be hasty and don't feel like you aren't in control. #2: The glowing platforms in that portion actually have a pretty generous timer, so you can just wait for the Firebars and continue accordingly. Bowser isn't much harder either; in fact I actually had a harder time fighting him at Dark Matter Plant because here, he doesn't have that damned dark spin attack. #1: This routinely takes me about 3 attempts, usually less. When you reach the crow's nest, just watch what Kamella is doing so you can avoid her attacks right as you dispatch the Magikoopas she summons. Just jump over the fireballs, spin when she fires the green shell magic, wait for her to wind up again, shoot, and done. And make sure you're always near the starboard (or "front") of the crow's nest so you can see where you are. If Kamella comes between the camera and Mario, as this shows, it becomes way harder to see what you're doing. A Very Sticky Situation is my personal pick for #1. The Sling Pods are probably the worst thing to have to use in this game, because with even the slightest fidget of your hands, it's sensitive enough that you go well off course. Also, since the pods are so far apart, having to aim makes it just dreadful. One degree off the correct launch angle and you die. Thank GOD the second half has Pull Stars.

Somehow I was able to get 119 stars when I was 11. I found the 120 recently after I explored the world more closely. (I was that water level with those Kameks at the end the ghost ship. The star I was missing involved hitting a koopa shell at multiple bombs to destroy the underwater ship)

Fiery Dino Piranha is hard, but it's easy for being a star in Melty Molten Galaxy. 3 of the top 5 hardest stars (Through the Meteor Storm, Lava Spire Daredevil Run, and Red-Hot Purple Coins) are in Melty Molten Galaxy.

The last snowman on "Concurring the summit" does not need to be melted you can backflip on top then backflip then spin then wall-jump. This saves time and allows you to complete the star more easily.

For me, I’d say that the hardest three include gizmos gears and gadgets (obviously), purple coins in the bone pen, and of course, sling pod. I died to the point I almost had 500 star bits on sling pod! I remember doing gizmos gears and gadgets before and it was hell. And why is nobody talking about purple coins in the bone pen? YOU HAVE LIKE 1MINUTE TO DO THIS STAR!!!

Conquering The Sumit and the purple coins of that were pretty much me at my best and also my best achievement of SMG. I didn't get much further than that. Fate of the Universe is (relatively) a piece of cake.

I figured out how to make Conquering the Summit much easier with a triple jump shortcut. Basically, Conquering the Summit is divided into 3 "legs," each marked by the Sling Star preceding it. The second is the longest and most annoying, and this shortcut skips almost all of it. It skips the annoyance of having to fling fireballs while avoiding the rocks, along with the Ice Bats and sliding walls. With Mario, get the first Fire Flower of the second leg, line yourself up so you're at the back of the platform and facing the first rock generator, make sure a rock from the second generator has just exploded and no rock from the first will get in your way, run a couple steps forward for momentum, and triple jump. If you've done this right, you will be wall clinging on the side ledge by the second rock generator. Once you've done this, you can do it again fairly easily. From the ledge, wall jump and toss a fireball, using the hang time to drift to the side and land right in front of the second rock generator. From here, you should be able to get out of the way and melt the snowman before your Fire Flower runs out. With Luigi, it's simpler. Just do the same triple jump you do with Mario, except use fireball hang time to land on the ledge Mario wall jumps off of. You also don't have to time the second rock because you are landing off to the side of where the second rock generator's rocks roll. Hopefully this isn't too complicated in writing to perform in game. Too bad I don't have good recording devices to show this on...

Top 10 Hardest Super Mario Galaxy Stars 10: Purple Coins in the Battle Rock I’m starting it off with a purple coin mission. Collecting 100 purple coins on a moving platform without being able to go back is no easy task, but practice makes perfect. Actually, it just makes it easier. The coins are all in a line too, so yeah... 9: Racing the Spooky Speedster It’s more difficult than the one in the bone pen Because it’s in 2D. I had many close calls with this star! 8: Luigi’s Purple Coins I agree with all your points about this one. The only real difficulty is the camera. And having a path back, I suppose. The one in Mario galaxy two is harder. 7: Bouldergiest’s Daredevil Run It’s really not that bad as people make it out to be. Until you get to the second phase. Be warned. 6: The Electric Labyrinth God, this level just keeps dragging on and on, doesn’t it? And there’s only one save point! AAAAHHHHHH!!!! 5: Starbunnies in the Snow Those bunnies are annoying as hell, along with the level itself. Those bunnies can get hypothermia and die for all I care. 4: King Fin’s Fearsome Waters You probably forgot about this star, and I don’t blame you! The boss is horrifying, along with his minions, The fight drags on too long, and the music makes it even worse! It really is King Fin’s shitty shell shooting! 3: Lava Spire Daredevil Run The last prankster comet is the hardest. It’s not a boss fight, it’s practically the perfect run!!! You can’t slip up once!!! 2: Gizmos, Gears, and Gagents. I was so happy when I beat this level as a kid. It’s a Motion controlled nightmare! 1: Battlestation’s Purple Coins Battle rock purple coins on steroids. You can’t make ONE mistake, or you have to start all over again!!! Do NOT play this level!!!!!!

Honestly this makes me think about the difference of player skill. Like how so many different peoples skills are better in different areas.Idk it’s just most of these are pretty easy for me. Personally, I find Dreadnought's Purple Coins the hardest, since all the jumps need to be planned out and the star is very unforgiving overall, since getting hit by one of the cannonballs is essentially death.
