Kingdom of Heaven theatrical cut is meh, the Directors Cut is brilliant.

Ok, I must have seen the theatrical cut because that was one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. The logic and character motivations were insulting to the audience. I abhorred it.

What was released was what Gilliam wanted and what I saw in the theater. The version the studio wanted (with the happy ending) played on TV for a short period of time.

@richardb6260 You've got it backward. It was the butchered happy ending that was released. The ending Terry Gilliam wanted was left unreleased for some time. The Criterion Collection release has both.

@@ghill628 The studio wasn't going to release it at all. After Gilliam's version got praise from critics, Gilliam put an ad in Variety citing the praise and chiding the studio for not releasing the film. Critics started championing the film and Siskel and Ebert devoted a segment on their show for it. The studio relented and released Gilliam's version. This is the version I saw with the ending that has Jonathan Pryce going into a catatonic state after being tortured and in his mind he's rescued. I'm not in a big city like NY or LA where that version may have gotten a special release. I'm in South Carolina. The movie bombed. The studio decided to make the changes they wanted when it was syndicated for television. That version has the rescue being real and Pryce escapes to live in the country side. I've only read about that version. I have it as part of a box set. But never watched it. I've only seen Gilliam's cut and I first saw it in the theater when it was first released.

Event Horizon is a scary movie because you never know what is going to happen next. It is also a bad movie, because the script writers, director, and actors never new what was going to happen next. It is too disjointed, too, “and then …. And then …”. There is no rhyme or reason to the plot.

I could have sworn the lead-in showed a bit from "Risen," which is arguably one of the best movies ever made. It's always fascinating to see well-known stories from a different perspective. And Joseph Fiennes is truly fine.

I’d like to add Master and Commander:Far side of the World. Barely made a profit, and is a movie near perfection. The acting, the story, the action, pacing and cinematography. Beautiful. I accept not for everyone, but If you understand the language of cinema, you will Love Master and Commander.
