Funny enough, I was reading a post about Toriyama a few weeks ago. And I heard that when he created Frieza's iconic Final Form, it was apparently inspired by the imaginary monsters he saw as a little kid. The fact that he took something so personal and added to his work just shows how much Dragon Ball meant to him.

Just recently purchased an Orange Piccolo statue at WA Comic Con on MAR 2nd. Glad my favorite DB character was given his proper due in Toriyama's vision before his death. DBZ was my introduction to the greatness of Japanese animation. It was the first anime I really followed as a kid and I instantly fell in love. Watching those episodes on the Spanish channels even though I had no idea what was being said, watching it on classic Toonami, it is so nostalgic. Such a legacy, and to create a character that rivals the popularity of Superman is an incredible feat. Rest in Peace.

I wanted to say rest in peace, Akira Toriyama. There really aren’t any words I can think of to describe the pain this loss has brought to not just me, but millions of people around the world. Toriyama was such an amazingly creative person who really did create something unique and special with Dragon Ball. I can only imagine how he must have felt knowing he created the most popular anime and manga of all time and it’s amazing how he was able to create such a unique story all the way back in 1984 and have it still be so unbelievably popular all these years later. And it’s especially saddening given how this is technically the 40th anniversary of the entire Dragon Ball franchise overall. And it’s incredible how he helped inspire so many other anime and manga creators like Eiichiro Oda with One Piece, Masashi Kishimoto with Naruto, Tite Kubo with Bleach and so, so, so many more. Another tragic part to all this is that we’ve lost so many amazing manga artists these last few years like Kentaro Miura and Kazuki Takahashi and now we’ve lost the most well known of them all. I really do need to thank Toriyama for everything he’s done with creating this franchise and these amazing characters like Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo and so many others. I only got into Dragon Ball back in 2017 and I can say I understand why it’s as gigantically popular as it is with so many amazing and iconic moments. It’s also amazing how this franchise seems very simplistic compared to other mangas and yet it’s still hailed as amazing all these year later. It’ll be tragic to watch Dragon Ball Daima this year knowing it’s the last thing he ever worked on. Overall, I just want to say, thank you for everything Akira Toriyama and rest in peace.

I remember this one scene when I was a toddler, other parts of that time were hazy, but I never forgot this moment, and it was when Goku was turning Ssj 3 against Majin Buu for the first time. He screamed for nearly 5 whole minutes, and gave us a transformation just as, if not more impactful, than the first Ssj transformation. I just started watching anime in 2020 and have caught up to the One Piece manga making me an obsessed one piece fan. I haven’t watched any of the Dragon Ball installments or read the manga and honestly it never really appealed to me as a shounen battle series. Ive been much more interested in Shounen fantasy or adventure series. Now after hearing of his death, I feel compelled to start reading Dragon Ball. Although I haven’t read or watched Dragon Ball, I fully understand the immeasurable impact Toriyama has had on the anime/manga industry and pop culture as a whole. His passing is a heartbreaking loss but it’s a legacy that deserves only to be celebrated for decades to come! Rest in peace Legend.

I remembered watching Dragon Ball Z on YTV when I was a kid, pretty good show back then and I wasn’t aware of anime that time until more shows up and I opened the door. After DBZ there’s the first series featuring Kid Goku aired on YTV then Dragon Ball GT (I didn’t have a problem with the show). Years later, as soon as I heard there was a redub with new cast and following the anime’s mature side and the raw’s original soundtracks I immediately rewatch the series starting with the first seasons, finished it then went to DBZ with only 1 ep and I was on break for too long. Akira Toriyama, even though I was living in ignorance, I now know that you are an important figure who have contributed to the anime world’s growth, and to me you are gone too soon and no doubt you regret of not finishing your works nor be able to witness the new Dragon Ball anime. We hope that you Rest In Peace. Amen.

Toriyama's work guided my life in so many ways. Friendships, romances, my own sense of self...may facets of my life were molded by the art he produced. I am forever thankful to it all.

The legacy of a true master of anime creation. A part of Mr. Toriyama will live forever not only in his works, but also in the hearts and minds of all of us, the fans whom he touched with his creation. From the moments that made us laugh, cry, cheer, and feel every emotion in between, to the memories that we can revisit anytime. While Toriyama may no longer be with us here, he'll never truly be gone thanks to the legacy he left behind.

Dragon Ball is the reason i have friends. I was a shy kid at school. When people got into DBZ when i was in 4th grade, it was so much easier to connect with them and some of them are still my best friends to this day at 28! Thank you Toriyama. Little me can’t thank you enough

A personal favorite moment of mine is during kid buu arc when Vegeta for the first time finally admits goku is better than him and says "you are the best kakarot" . That just hit different. Thank you for such wonderful moments and childhood memories Akira toriyama

Thank you, Mr Akira Toriyama! I watched Gohan turn SSJ for the first time at least 80 times before my first boxing match 12 years ago. Pushing through his limits resonated with me. I won my fight by 2nd round TKO. Mr. Toriyama made a quirky little black boy believe he too can become a super saiyan 😊

There are no words to fully describe your passing, Toriyama-san. If one of us could gather all seven Dragon Balls and summon Shenron, our wish would not be to bring you back, but to thank you for the memories that inspired us to achieve greatness. Your influence had ripple effects that resonated in the anime genre as the years passed. You once said _"Tackle life with the same energy as Goku! I'll try to do the same!"_ And you did with your life's work until you were with us no longer. Rest Well, Legend. 🕊🐉

Your works are appreciated even in nowadays, specially the greatest one, Dragon Ball, the work that changed life's people, inclusively my life. I got acquainted with Toriyama's work only 3 years ago, when I was 25 years old, I knew about him for a long time, but didn't have the guts to look at Dragon ball. Still I could, his manga and anime left a great and pleasant impression on me. The story is simple, but the style of drawing, characters and the world itself are very memorable. I'm glad I caught it all while he was alive, but I wish I could thank him for it personally. It's only because of Akira that we know and watch other anime and manga in the senen genre that exist today (One piece, Naruto, Bleach, Fairy Tail, etc.). His contribution and labor in the media industry is simply immeasurable and now his legacy and memory will live on forever. I can't imagine what's next for the franchise, but hopefully his apprentice will be as engaging and loving to the world of DB. I'll be revisiting it many times. Akira Toriyama, you deserved better but you became a legend and a close friend to all of us, thank you for everything. RIP

I swear on everything, I'm a 35-year-old man teaching in Brooklyn & studying psych, and I'm on the subway rn clutching back tears. Dragon Ball Z pushed me so far forward against the challenges I've endured, especially its philosophy that pain is a necessity for growth and thus ought not be only feared. Rest in peace, Toriyama. Thank you for the life lessons every week.

The Dragon Ball Z steelbooks to me are the only way to watch them with the 4:3 aspect ratio and the Bruce Falcouner score. Otherwise you'd have to get the Dragon Boxes, rip them, upscale them and add the music yourself.

Rip Akira Toriyama, you will forever be missed. I will never forget when dragon quest came out when I saw your name in the credits and saw your character and monster designs in the game. It was very beautiful and the drawings for the slimes were very cute. I was so sad to hear about what happened when you were died you were forever be missing and you made my childhood because of dragon quest. I was so sad about Dragon Quest Composer Kohichi Sugiyama he was one of my favorite video game composers and I was lucky to meet him. I know you are with him and reunited with him will never be forgotten. Thank you for the childhood memories of dragon quest, especially the Dragon Ball franchise
