I would have probably slid a live version of Chicago's 25 or 6 to 4 in it's place as Terry Kath in his prime really smoked others guitarists (supposedly Hendrix said he was better than him) and they pioneered the heavy use of a horn section in rock. Queen? I don't think so. I'd definitely have put CSN&Y's Woodstock on the list as it truly is iconic, defined a whole generation and it's lyrics, vocals, instrumentation and song structure are unique in the history of rock. Then again the list is subjective and I'm being subjective too so don't go hating on me.

Except that Zeppelin ripped off the opening riff from a band named Taurus that they had opened for. Zeppelin is the worlds most sucessful cover band. I am not saying they weren't talented, but they definitely ripped off countless other musicians.

Reilly I heared the song and 1. there is really just a small rip-of, just a little leak that the opening reminds of. 2. Not only that the guitar work is more complex in stairway to heaven, flutes that add so much are added and two more parts - the amazing solo that you can't take away from them and the awesome rocking ending, so it's not just taking a song and doing a cover. 3. Picasso, Tarantino and Steve Jobs said that: "good artists borrow, great artists steal." p.s. I am not even a big Zeppelin fan, I'm a Beatles fan.

Actually they didn't stole stairway AT ALL. They won the trial because there wasn't enough resemblances. It is a very common chord sequence it belongs to anyone. It is like saying nobody can use the A chord because someone used it first

Nöl Miszewski Black people created Rock music my mixing Blues( which Black people created) and Gospel( which Black people created) that formed Rock Music. Little Richard is an early example of it. Which is why he is called the architect of rock ‘n’ roll!!!! Give credit where credit is due
