Less than two years ago, I sold my 89 Score Barry Sanders PSA10 for $250 and my 89UD Griffey PSA10 for $450. Also I had all three 83 Topps HOF'ers in PSA10 with Gwynn/Sandberg/Boggs. Sold as a group lot for around $1500. Now the Gwynn alone is around $4K. It makes you sick thinking back on how much you've lost over the years. LOL

Great Video! Regarding the Griffey. Check the Bowman and the Donruss from 89 as well. The Pop on the 10s are lower than the UD, Fleer, and Topps. I personally like the Bowman - classic card, but that UD is an all time icon. Love to see the interest on these older cards!

The Messi should be worth around $350k. The Ronaldo Mega Craques PSA 10 did $47k in Dec so it's roughly 50% of the Messi and since the Ronaldo PSA 10 just went for $205k this weekend at Goldin, the Messi should be at $350k-$400k. I'm tracking this closely because the Messi you showed is mine :)

@@AlexXanderMarketing Keep in mind, 5 or 6 years ago, the % of people who would call the Nike promo his "true rookie" was, let's say, 5%... it's now like 15-20%... In the card market, what is considered someone's true rookie card can change over time. I've got no clue the actual % who consider that his true rookie, but I know it has been slowly and steadily rising over the years. And to a lot of people in their late 30's or 40's...will recognize that picture, 100%.

86 Fleer will always be recognized as his true rookie. The people who are priced out of the Fleer are lobbying for the Star and Nike but it’s a lost cause. 86 Fleer as a set has many rookies and a lot of market strength. There’s a reason why it’s so much more expensive. The Nike is nice from an art perspective but it doesn’t feel like a sports card, more like a poster. The Star card is garbage. PSA won’t even grade them anymore.

Michael Jordan's 1985 Star Rookie Card #101 has been skyrocketing also. 2 months ago that was going for 20 grand at a 8.5 graded in BGS, now it's at $200,000. After 2 months it goes up like that.

Okay so I’m going to use this comment to make what will seem very random suggestion about the app. When setting a filter (I often filer just for baseball) on the top trending cards, switch where the “reset filters” button is and the “Apply” buttons are. I know it’s a small thing but people are going to use the apply button a lot more than the reset button. I use the apply button all the time, I never reset the filter.

Geoff, you should have mentioned Cristiano Ronaldo's RC, Panini Megacraques #137 PSA 10. It sold for 47.6K about a month or two ago. At the recent Goldin auction it sold for just over 200K. My guess on the next Messi PSA 10 sale is 378K.

I've been collecting cards since I was 14. Now I'm 48 years young. And I have many of these cards. But I never got into the grading stuff. But I did pick up the bowman chrome and regular bowman tom brady rookie cards. Both in mint shape i felt. So that is very cool. I did have a second copy of that bowman chrome Brady rookie. And sold the worse of the 2 condition. And the buyer message me some time later and told me he got a 9.0 psa grade on it..he was very happy and so was I for him. He paid me a price I couldn't believe so we both came out great. But he will do great with that 9 if he still has it. This deal happened after bradys last super bowl win with the Pats. whats the Difference in my Kobe 50th anniversary RC and regular Topps Chrome ? mine has a 50th anniversary emblem bottom left.

The 50th Anniversary card is the foil edition RC parallel. Typically sells for slightly less than the Chrome card. I find the foil cards are tougher grades due to the sensitive nature of the foil, which is more prone to chipping and surface/edge issues. And the Chrome Refractors, of course, go for a big multiple compared to the standard Chrome card. The only drawback to the Chrome card is some appear to suffer from a "greening" effect, where the color of the card appears to turn a bit green. I've only heard of this with the Kobe card, though, so it may partly have to do with the general coloring dynamic of Kobe's jersey (yellow) and the chromium material which optically creates a green-type appearance.

Buy the Star 1984 Michael Jordan Rookie. Make sure it is professionally graded as there are so many fakes. There were only 3,000 bagged sets of this card made. Much rarer than the 1986 Fleer. It will soon catch up to the Fleer rookie. I am sitting on a BGS 8.5 right now. Good luck!

There’s a reason why PSA won’t grade this card. A pretty scary one. I would not buy that card and if I owned one I would sell it. A criminal can recreate that card so realistic that not even a professional grader can tell the difference. BGS says they can, that’s BS.

For a future video maybe if you can it would be great if you could go over the entire vintage and modern soccer card scene talking about the most desired cards of legends (Messi, Pele, Cristiano Ronaldo, Maradona to name a few). A friend of mine invests in sports cards and sent me this video. I’m not an investor but I am a soccer fan and have played for 27 years. Lionel Messi will surpass Wayne Gretzky in value becasue he is the best in soccer history as of this point in time. If he leaves Barcelona this summer when his contract is up his value will go up. If Argentina wins the World Cup in 2022 in Qatar his value will go up and once retired obviously the value will increase. He’ll be worth millions and only reasons he’s not worth millions now is becasue most collectors in the USA don’t follow soccer.

I like the SCI app & have been showing it to my friends while trying to get them to dig out their old collections. Speaking of iconic players, and apologies in advance if you've touched on the subject in prior videos, but what do you think of modern sets that include some of these legends from yester-years? I'm talking Bird, Pistol Pete & so on. While I think it's great to celebrate these guys I can't help to think that making new cards for these guys could hurt the value of their original cards released while they were actually playing. I also noticed a lack of Jordan's in these moderns sets as well!
