I love that Korra and Asami are together in the canon universe but there really wasn't much development for them as a couple sadly. The moment when Asami was teaching Korra to drive was them bonding as friends and a good way to get them in the direction of being more, but after this, it dropped. Anything before book 4 didn't develop their relationship, to me. And one of the main reasons is Nick not letting them know if they were going to be renewed or not that affected the whole series as a whole. The fact that two female characters were going to get together on a kids show, they had to hold back on a bit of the writing. They could have developed the friendship between the two better so that when they became a couple it wouldn't have made confused so many people on how. I knew before watching that they got together and was confused on where that development was when I got to the very last episode of the series and was that they were together. I'm still happy they're together though.

I have to say, the season 4 ending scene caught me partially by surprise. I had noticed the signs, but I had written them off as “very close friendship” because it was aired on Nick and being a kids cartoon channel, I wasn’t sure if they would be willing to brave any potential backlash. In hindsight, the development was there. Not much, but enough for it to work. Very subtle. I doubt Nick gave them much of the leash. Glad to see the protagonists happy by the end of the series, no matter what happens.

Mako and Korra were TERRIBLE together. They constantly fought throughout the entire show. Both of them were too strongwilled and opinionated. Korra and Asami were 100,000,000 times better. they treated each other with respect and understanding. It's entirely possible that both of them didn't realise they were bisexual until the end of the show and couldn't explore those feelings because of all the crazy shit going on between them. Like the video showed their were clear indications of digging one another and having intimate moments. Just because they were never making out and it wasn't totally obvious doesn't mean it was just sprung up. Take off your heterosexual goggles and read between the lines. FFS I hate that people are even arguing about the legitimacy of their relationship. If Asami were a guy there would never be any backlash.

I think there are plenty of signs that it was more then just friendship they were just subtle (mainly because it is a Nickeldon show). like I stated before it's entirely possible it was a slow buildup and wasn't fully realised until the end. as for the quotation marks between respect and understanding, are you implying that they didn't respect and understand each other? If Asami happened to be a man I feel like them finally getting together in the end wouldn't have made such a backlash. I believe that no one would have really questioned it because they were opposite genders. Because they are of the same gender people think it's just bad writing. I feel like people felt like it was rushed or sprung up was because they didnt even seriously consider them being a coupe ( unless Asami was a man). I think the issue with that is that bisexuality is hardly ever in media and maybe seeing Korra only with a man ( Mako, however just because someone has only ever dated a man doesnt mean they are not bisexual) I don't feel like there needs to be large noticeable indications of one's feelings for another. it can be deeper and can be read between the lines. I don't feel like the writers need to explain the intimate moments between them that was more than just friendship. The viewers need to understand and figure that out themselves.

Objectively this list could also support the idea of a close friendship. The ship may be real but if the show can't convince viewers it's real without the producers stepping in then the show didn't do enough to show them as a potential couple. Big Boy Nah.. its rushed. I can see some of the points this video makes. There's just no real set up for the ending scene. Really it's more of a poorly developed forced relationship and I just get this feeling the writers wrote this scene because they wanted to have the first animated protagonist who was of a different sexual orientation. Just so they can say, look we did it first and she's special because she's not like everyone else. Which is okay, it's just for the wrong reasons, it becomes apparent in the story telling and screen play. Yeah there are a few skeptical hints late in the season and I know they can't drop obvious one's because it's on nickelodeon but it's hard to believe at that point that it was likely. If they did another season and showed more progression and intimate bonding moments I could believe it. There's just not enough scenes and actions that are made clear to support the relationship being credible. That's my opinion!

Excellent video. With all due respect however, you missed a couple of moments- 1) At the end of Book 3 three when Korra is in the wheelchair, Asami is the ONLY person she talks to. She doesn't say a word to anyone else, not her father, not Tenzin, not the Airbender kids. Asami was the only one she could muster the energy to speak to. 2) When Korra astral projects into the Spirit World it's Asami that watches over her physical body. Claims to prove it's real, can easily be disproven. In fact I will! 1.) Two girls bonding over dating the same guy doesn't mean your gay,in fact having a boyfriend practically removes that option. 2.) She didn't say "I've never had a girlfriend" she said "I've never had a girl friend" 3.) No it doesn't, she is just doing what any decent friend would do. 4.) The creators said that it was an open ending,to believe what you want but they won't tell you if you're right or not. The blushing comment though. Why the hell would animators spend the time to put that in if it wasn't to mean anything? Same thing with all the scenes between Korra and Asami. The thing is, people are ignoring the fact that by Season 3 and 4, there was so much more focus on Korra and Asami, it was basically served on a silver platter to all of us that this relationship is more than a normal friendship. Why would the writers go through all this trouble and screen time of highlighting Korra and Asami and forget about Bolin and Mako for the most part? Considering Asami was the outsider of the group in Season 1? A lot of the time those against the whole thing keep having the mindset it could be normal, but then I wish i can make them wonder why the whole ending was written in such a way - that they made Korra and Asami go together alone. They could have obviously put the whole gang together had they wanted it to take that direction. Same thing for the letters. The goal in season 4 was to convey Korra's severe depression. Of course wouldn't it have been worse if she didn't send any letters to anyone? But no, the writers chose to pick Asami as an exception.

Patrick Dooley The entire reason it was "on a silver platter" was because Nickelodeon TOLD them to do so,so they had to shoehorn in a bunch of subtle hints to "korrasami" and disregard what the wrighters actually wanted to do. Which is why they were often being isolated together. Even if you made a good point, every one of my other points completely outweighs those one or two, quite frankly circumstantial, points. We don't even need these 10 moments. The CREATORS THEMSELVES have pronounced it as being canon.. But these people can decide for themselves if they don't WANT it, just don't say it's not canon because it is, period. Don't go throwing out alternative facts.. The only reason why they couldn't make it more obvious than they did is because it was a Nickelodeon series /rant over. I love these two! :D And I love that it is canon! :D Some of the reasons weren't that specific. Girlfriend as in friend who is a girl. And yes friends can make each other blush (the fact that the only ones that made Korra blush were Mako and Asami says more). My favorite reasons were the hand holding in season 3 final (and 4 of course), Korra only writing Asami and the hug when they reunited. That was a full-body hug and different than the hugs they shared in the past seasons. Something grew and changed. Not to mention the way they looked at each other in the spirit portal at the final moments. Asami emphatizing she could not lose Korra and her father was a big one too. I just can;t wait to see the comics of season 5!

The way people talked about Korrasami I thought they were actually in an relationship but I just finished and uhhh.... that's it? That was awful haha. The only time anything remotely relationship-y happened between the two prior to the last scene was when Korra came back from being away for years and blushed when Asami complimented her. That's it. They barely share screen time in the final season. Saving a friend, being supportive during psychical therapy/in general isn't evidence of them being gay/bi. Friends do that stuff. And before people say I'm being "heteronormative" or whatever, I'm bi so I was actively looking for things since I was excited as it had been so hyped.

Korra X Asami is shit pandering that would be legitimate if the writers gave literally 1 incentive to show that either character was homo/bisexual in season 1 or 2. Literally every main character in Korra or Legend of Aang except Azula had some kind of sexuality experience (crush, relationship, or glanced/hit on someone). That includes Toph, Mako, Bolin, Sokka, Tenzin, Iroh, Lin Beifong, Jinora, Aang, Zuko, Katara, Suki, Ty Lee, Mai. Of course this includes Korra and Asami too but only in the girl likes boy scenario, it belittles how it actually is to be bisexual/lesbian, it's not something you discover at the age 21, it's something you know and we as viewers should have been shown in season 1 or 2, to open the possibility of something like this. It's so obvious pandering. They could have saved it in season 3 even, if they showed just either characters glancing at a girl in a "in love kinda way" or the way Sokka glances at every girl in the series, just do it fucking once, and "whoa she gay/bi alright, maybe she will get together with Asami? That would be cool". But nope, the lowest denominator, they pretend you randomly become gay after 4 years of having a tough time getting boyfriends and insult viewers for thinking what the show implied for 4 entire seasons.
