I got all ten right, which I consider sad By the way, the words you're looking for are "concentrated" and "diluted." A concentrated color has more of that color added to it, whereas a diluted color has more of that color taken away, making it appear slightly whitish. You can probably look on the Internet for a better explanation, but hopefully I at least helped a little.

Well, rather than concentrated, the more correct term is actually saturated. Higher saturation means a more bold-looking colour; less saturation tends to be more faded and lighter.

One of the graphic design courses I took our teacher has is all do a color acuity test. It’s not a colorblind test, you’re given 256 shades of blue, from 00 to FF. I placed about 240 of them correctly. The point of the test is people with high color acuity will have a much easier time telling about shades of similar colors, and might have problems working with clients who do not. I.e. you have them three shades of blue, one more blue, one more purple, and the third in the middle, but your client might just see them as all the same shade of blue. Inversely with low color acuity might pick colors that are drastically different for most people. TL;DR I think you might have low color acuity JRose, and the shiny designers probably have a high one. Still doesn’t excuse the barely changed colors, but it’s something to think on.

Maybe it's because I'm an artist and I'm generally good at seeing color, but I could tell the differences for all of them. Also, I've heard something about how shinies are (or at least were) determined by just shifting the color pattern over by one space in the data or something like that. And they did that for all pokemon (or nearly all) to make things easier. So technically, most shinies are lazy.

Believe it or not, I got all of these right! The main reasons we're that I have a shiny igglybuff, and togekiss is one of my favorite Pokemon. I also had a league on card as a kid that I used a lot, which gave me the slight upper hand on the eeveelutions one. Great video, as always!

It's sad.. alot of these poor shinies are the result of altering coding slightly. Charizard USED to be purple with green wings... And the Typhlosion line used to be purple with Purple flames... But they decided they would make a few exceptions for like... The popular Pokemon like Charizard and alter them manually but keep the poor shinies we still currently have. Abd I believe they kept this up until gen 6 I believe...

I got all of them, but I don't know Pokemon very well at all, I stopped at gen 4 and didn't even finish that. I DO however know how gen 1-4 shinnies were generated, heard it was the same for 5-6, and figured they started picking colors after that. Though generally my rule of thumb for when you can't tell is the lighter of the two is shiny if they otherwise look identical.

Before gen 6, shiny Pokemon were created by shifting a Pokemon's pallet over by one in the game's data. Using the word lazy doesn't do gamefreak justice, as it's not like they stood in a room and picked the colors they liked. Flabebe, however, is unforgivable, because that was when they started picking colors

Gummy Gem I got them right because I knew all of them already. I've only been into pokemon for like three years maybe? and only majorly for the past year and a half but I've become a pokemon geek. I think burmy's and flabebe's shiny for does make sense. The flower in flabebe's and the leaves in burmy's are not apart of the Pokemon realistically.

not to be rude ir anything but are you color blind? It lowkey concerned me when you talked about Togekiss. To me the whites are very differnet (don't get me wrong tho it's still a lazy shiny) the one has a very obvious yellow tinge while the other has a blue, i don't know how you could have missed that to be honest

I honestly have never seen Igglybuff and I got it right by basing my decision on "well which one is lighter colored?" This is the general rule of thumb for gen 1-6

Early shinnies were determined by a coloring algorithm, that's why most of them look weird or barely any different; they didn't start manually choosing the alternate color palette until X & Y I believe.
