two things i'd like to point out. Michael called these "short films" and considered it an insult to call them "music videos". he wanted something better than the average music video so always wanted a storyline to go with each song. second, "Earth Song" does not "imagine a distant past" it was of the time with problems we are still going through, they turn the earth around fixing the problems but did not go to a distant time

My own MJ video ranking: 1. Smooth Criminal (the lean, the 30s gangsta genre, the choreography, the moonwalk... Just perfection) 2. Thriller (for obvious reasons) 3. Bad (Martin Scorsese, West Side Story, and those damn buckles! I get chills every time I watch the group choreography.) 4. Remember the Time (Egyptian scene, lots of fun, and MJ biting his lower lip!) 5. They Don't Care About Us prison version (Basically giving "they" the finger) 6. Black or White (A variety of dancing styles influenced by different cultures) 7. In the Closet (Can he get sexier?) 8. Dirty Diana (Yes he can get sexier!) 9. Leave Me Alone (Giving the media the finger) 10. Scream Honorary mentions: Jam (Two of the world's best MJs!) Beat it, and The Way You Make Me Feel. Ghost does not belong to the MV list because it is a proper film instead of a music video.

As a longtime Jackson fan beat it was more west side story. Bad was actually based off of a news article that Michael and his team had seen about a young man who had gone off to college like Michael's character Daryl although in the actual story the young man was killed when he returned home from the jealousy of his friends. During an interview with Michael on the bad tour he explains this.

***** True but still, MJ had quite a few short films/music videos. Bad, for example, was done a similar way, as the full version is close to 20 minutes long. Plus, if they're gonna put Ghosts as an honorable mention, they could've put it on the list. But the list was still good so it is what it is.

+Isaiah W. The Dirty Diana video isn't really that elaborate or well-produced in and of itself. What makes it stand out is just how incredibly powerful the song is. On a list of best songs I'd definitely want it up there, but as far as a list of best music videos goes, I wouldn't put it on there. He has far too many great videos to narrow it down to just 10, and DD is one that unfortunately doesn't make the cut. Also, R.I.P. MJ

I am a HUGE Michael Jackson fan and I've seen every single music video. I own them all on a DVD. I even own Moonwalker. That being said, all of his videos are awesome, but my personal favorite it Bad. It has a story, it has great acting, and it has a great moral. I love it so much. I also love the whole 40 minute Smooth Criminal video, though some might argue that it's really "childish". I think it's awesome. Ghosts is awesome. I mean, Michael Jackson + Stephen King? Awesome. You Rock My World is underrated. And, of course, there's Thriller. The only music video in the National Film Registry. Michael was, and still is, a genius. You may not like him, but you can't deny it, the man could sing and dance like no other.

MJ has too many great music videos to fit on one top 10 list. Make another! lol They Don't Care About Us should've definitely been on this list imo. His message in that song (and many other songs) is still relevant to this day. One thing they didn't mention was the real reason why the Panther Dance segment of Black or White was cut out from the music video. It was not because of MJ "vandalizing" public property but for the fact that in the original had MJ smashing windows with racist messages graffitied over them. He was later forced to censor it because the media didn't like the controversy and the video lost it's meaning because of that. Which it's why it doesn't make sense and it looks like he's just vandalizing the car. It's really pathetic if you compare it to modern days music videos which are allowed to show all kinds of outrageous shit.
@sepid97789 жыл бұрын
+MJ-rhythm-of-Love exactly, I was surprised when they mentioned "vandalizing public property" and not mentioned the racist messages!! that part of video was really meaningful, ironic and symbolic.
@MJrhythmofLove9 жыл бұрын
***** I'm not sure that's true. Why would he be smashing windows without graffiti for no reason? That was the whole point of his rage of the racism. I'm pretty sure they filmed it without it but the graffiti was added later for the original released version of the video. When they banned it, they had to use an earlier version where they had not yet put it in the video.
@MJrhythmofLove9 жыл бұрын
+joe smith Now I know that isn't true. Michael's short films (music videos) always had some message to them. MJ wouldn't be the artist to rage and destroy things just for the fun of it. His intention was to bring attention to the fact that racism still exists in society and to end the discrimination by raging against it. That was the point of the whole Panther segment of Black or White and *it was exactly what he wanted out there.* To create some sort of controversy to get people's attention and make them aware of the issue. The Vision box set may say the video was aired without it, which it was later but the graffiti version was the first to air as the premiere on television which is one of the reasons why it was banned. Because of the racial slurs and the "violence" MJ was showing. They wouldn't ban a Michael Jackson video for no reason right? Don't trust Wikipedia because they have a lot of other incorrect facts about MJ as well.
@MJrhythmofLove9 жыл бұрын
+joe smith I am only telling it the way it is. So it has nothing to do with what I want to be true. It makes perfect sense if you think about it. The graffiti was forced to be removed as a censor so it would not be as offensive to people watching it. I don't see why you can't seem to accept it. Yes, it's true that it was banned because of vandalism and suggestive dance moves but those were only some of the factors why there was an outrage from the media when it aired. That's what the media tells you but it is clear that they did not like how MJ was standing up against racism. Probably a huge reason why he became a victim of slander by people trying to bring him down. There's a whole lot to that theory if you do some research. They also banned *another* of his videos in America; They Don't Care About Us (prison version) which also had black activism in it. Also because of "violence". You're right, black panthers may not care about graffiti but that was not the point. The black panther is symbolic of the organisation "The Black Panthers" founded in 1966 who fought for Afro American rights. MJ was very aware of black history and dedicated his life to fight for his people's rights. Everything he did, he did it for a reason.

nathan hiscock first of all, of u want to take the time to go see the video of the police raid, they found nothing close to a "porn closet". It's media bull crap and while ur calling other people sad, your the one that is disappointing because you are blinded by media and tabloids. I'm sorry u feel this was about Michael, and I respect your opinion, but don't go on a video about a person you think is bad and spread negativity. Especially when you know u are the only one who thinks he was a pedophile through the comments. So yea. Back off.

I listen all of his songs and believe me everything there is a birthday in the family we always play his songss as well as other song from that era .
