@jenna1275 жыл бұрын
Honestly all deaths are tragic and horrible, so I don't really think they need to be ranked, but I kinda understand where they're going with these rankings. Whitney was a legend, but she was also older when she died (not old, but older than many on this list), she wasn't at the peak or beginning of her career, and her death wasn't a freak, non-self inflicted accident. Take Aaliyah and Selena for example, who were by all means just at the beginning of their potential success, and who were both killed at the hands of others. No one death on this list is greater than the others, but in terms of being shocking and "too soon", as the title says, the order for the most part makes sense.
@andresvillanueva54215 жыл бұрын
@@jenna127 Well said, now I'm considering deleting my comment for being so narrow and sensitive. Thank you for your very good explanation.
@jenna1275 жыл бұрын
@@andresvillanueva5421No problem! Honestly it's still a bit uncomfortable to think that this video is ranking deaths in a sense, but I think looking at it as the circumstances surrounding people's deaths rather than the people themselves makes it a bit better. Ideally I'd just say they get rid of the numbers within the video all together and just talk about them in no particular order, but 🤷♀️It's their format for making videos.

AA BB Aaliyah had no major impact? Her second album sold 3 million worldwide which was a high achievement in the 90’s especially for someone under the age of 18. On top of that she earned 15 musical awards during her short time as an artist. While I agree she was more categorized into R&B than pop, she’s still was still known as the “Queen of Urban Pop”.

I understand what you're saying but I think the ranking is more of a measure of how shocking the death was and how much it affected people. For instance, I knew Whitney was going to overdose one day soon after seeing her trying to make a comeback and she could hardly sing. A couple of years later she was found dead. I figured if you are an artist and you're making a living from your body, and your vocal chords, your instrument, a gift, is no longer working, you have to be putting a lot of unhealthy things in your body. Everyone knew her history, years and years of abuse with drugs so I watched those KZbin videos with sadness knowing it was a matter of time. The top 3 singers also were on the brink of SUPER stardom so it's that much more devastating. I think Selena should be #1 because her death was so senseless and cold-blooded. Some brought their own demise on themselves (well, some would say that the top 3 did too because life is about choices. People told Aaliyah to wait for another plane because she should not go on a plane with all that equipment) from the egregious acts of self-destruction; Billie Holiday, Amy Winehouse were so self-destructive. Left-Eye drove recklessly even after killing a 10 year-old boy. The universe sends signs all the time and some will ignore them. But I digress. In short, I think you can rate these deaths in order of most shocking. But that's only my opinion. Peace and love.✌❤

Karen Carpenter was called "the chubby sister " by the press and that's what made her start a drastic diet that led to her eating disorder and ultimately, her death. We can't look at anorexia just as an eating disorder. Something makes people take on drastic diet strategies that turns into an obsessive eating disorder. They feel the need to look good because everything about them gets criticised. The reporter who called Karen Carpenter chubby was the trigger that sent her on a downward spiral. We really ought to be careful about how our comments can affect people.

I believe it's partly the culture, i.e. their peers, some of whom they idolize, use drugs, and drugs are more easily accessible. Even if they aren't prone to use drugs in "normal" situations, being in the presence of drugs and drug users, on a daily basis, will increase the probability that they will use. It could also be that their career highs, e.g. audience highs, fame, etc., overwhelm their sensory perception/tolerance to the point that only drugs could induce similar highs. Maybe after achieving their lifelong dreams there are no better highs. It could also be due to their hectic schedules and their need to be so energetic all of the time, that they resort to drugs to keep them up. As they say, fame changes you. I'd guess the "reasons" for drug use vary from artist to artist, but that there are also some common themes.

Aaliyah’s passing effected me the most. I was already a big fan when the “One In A Million” album came out, although I was four. My older siblings turned me on to her, and I loved her even more when I saw her movie “Romeo Must Die” since I was able to see her. She was so beautiful and her music comforted me at the age of 8 when she passed and still does today, at 26. I remember the exact moment of her passing, my mom woke me up from a nap and sat me in front of the TV where it showed “Aaliyah’s passes in plane crash”, I remember still being a little confused, since I was a child and never had a clear knowledge on death, but when it showed the plane I remember asking my mom “Was she in that plane?” and when she said yes, I remember just crying and crying. That entire day I remember just thinking of her and her passing, I remember even referencing death to myself during a walk with my mom and dad, and my mom was like “don’t say that”. It just made me sad that she was no longer on earth cus she was and still is my favorite artist. Her music, her voice and how cool and mysterious she was lowkey made me the man I am today and why I try to be a decent and caring human being, since the world and life itself can be very cruel, why not try and bring a smile upon a strangers face. A kind gesture or words can turn an entire life around. With all that being said, Aaliyah’s passing is still effecting the general public today, but any real fan knows the truth of her passing; an overweight plane that was not the original plane they had chartered, but smaller, all the video equipment and luggage, also 2 extra passengers accompanied by it, and the pilot alone. She’s was getting older and wanted more control of her career, music wise and in the film world, but her shady ass uncle, BARRY HANKERSON (check his track record) did not want his biggest star (who was then dating CEO of Roc-A-Fella, sporting the chain and throwing up the “Roc” hand gesture) even thinking of leaving his label. Which is why her last 3 and strongest selling albums “One In A Million”, “AALIYAH” and “I Care 4 U” aren’t available for streaming. His greedy and down right dastardly doing to his own niece caused his nieces death, and is the main reason why the newer generation have no knowledge of Aaliyah. But being her biggest fan I’ve made it a point of mine to raise my nieces and nephews and other younger family members up on her music, and let me tell you, my youngin’s love them some Aaliyah Dana Haughton, with all this being said, she was truly an angel and the blueprint for female R&B-Pop music today. You are truly missed.
