Top 10 Monsters - FIA HillClimb Masters Gubbio 2018

Every Two Years and on a different location, there´s the biggest celebration of European HillClimb Racing with the FIA HillClimb Masters and with it a very large number of the greatest Monsters in the sport is gathered to battle for victory. This year , the event was held in Gubbio, Italy in its beautiful local HillClimb.
In the end these were the 10 fastest Monsters of the weekend, with some potential winners not being able to finish the event and some missing out very narrowly. But those surely will have their place on our Channel in th near future too. For now, let´s watch those who placed among the very Top against some of the most fierce competition any event this year could have.

HillClimb Monsters my favorite is the BMW Z4, followed by the Mercedes Judd, and then the Fiat. Onboard footage would be great. The stats you have here are a very nice touch.

That Audi WTT-R DTM Launch sond was amazing, and the Alpha was x1/9 was on rails. SLK was a few RPM’s short of sounding like an F1 Car. Let’s not forget about the shotgun shells going off every shift the GT3 Porsche made. I could watch this all day!

Good contacts, people willing to cooperate to show this great sport to the masses, organizations and teams that let us promote them. A lot of different answers for that question. But honestly, it also comes down to being able to maximize the footage we have. For some channels a single event is good for just one video. For us, because we focus on particular cars, it can be good for multiple vids. 😉

The fiat makes 320 at the wheels out of a 2.0L ???? Whoever built that motor knows whats up. Maybe the motor gets rebuilt every few races or so. But those are some impressive numbers if the car is also reliable. Maybe i dont have a clue what im talking about but seems very impressive

I think GT3 cars are out of place here, too wide and too heavy, too common. Real hill climbers are heavily modified sports cars like that Lancer Evo VIII with the massive wing and that ultra light Fiat / Alfa Romeo or the engine swapped Merc. The TTR DTM feels way more in its natural environment than any GT3 car, same hp but way lighter and not as wide.

I just think GT3 cars are out of place here , yes the Evo's are about the same weight but much more custom built and nimble than the wide body GT3 cars. The MERC is wide too, but again custom built and about 400kg lighter with even more hp. I mean, it's just a personal opinion, it's one thing to put a unmodified GT3 on a hill climbing course, it's another to breathe the hill climbing racestyle (which I think is a very distinct race division, with typical cars) and customize your vision of a hill climb monster into a real world racer, with the essence of hill climb racing kept close to the heart as the core of the car : very high hp/weight ratio, nimble manouvreibility and lightweight, or at least 2 out of 3. A GT3 is not nimble, it's wide. A GT3 is pretty high performance power to weight but still not enough to my opinion and it sure is not lightweight. It's also a standard race car, not a build. I know it may be an odd way of thinking this way, but I think some territories of racing should be kept away from another. GT3 cars are specifically for the traditional race tracks for endurance racing and I don't see any hill climbing monsters interfere their tracks. It's a very personal mindset, I understand people prefer the diversity of the grid in hill climbing and love a GT3 car to race the hill, I just don't feel anything for it. It lacks personality, creativity and extremity (not a word I know). Not like a proper hill climbing monster anyway. I respect your opinion, please appreciate mine too. I can't explain myself more than this.

By far the cheapest car (probably many times cheaper )has the 2nd best time. The Mitsubishis cant turn..... tragic in tight corners they are fast only in straight line. I expected DTMs to be a lot faster than those Fiat actually.

Pasa´s BMW E36 weighs 895 Kgs, Plasa´s 134 Judd weighed 780 Kg and Reto´s car weighs 760Kg. Reto´s car weighing more than any of Plasa´s car when it was built with technology 5 years newer would be pretty bad engineering.

Georg was the first one by puting the Judd V8 engine in his 320 E36 in 2003, Reto followed suit by putting a Judd V8 on his 190 in 2004, then Plasa debuted his 134 in 2011 and Reto debuted his SLK 340 in 2015. Although there´s no article (yet) with all this information in one place, there´s a lot of official info about both cars. And a lot of people like our Team that saw everything happen ;)
