Most expensive fish I ever had was a Inimicus didactylus. "Demon Stinger", Spiny Devilfish or Bearded Ghoul are the most popular nicknames for this fish, related to the stone fish. Paid around $250. It was beautiful, well - he too had a face only a mother can love, but damn. I loved that fish so much.

The most expensive fish I've bought was a black ice clown for $65. I think number one should have been the (centropyge interruptus) Japanese interrupter pygmy angel 😄 I've never seen one in person but the pictures of them are amazing! They are usually priced around $1300 and up though. There was a woman in Hawaii who started a GoFundMe to get a female so she could captive breed her male it was called "get a girlfriend for Fabio" I never heard if she was successful at breeding them though.

Most expensive fish I've ever caught (wild-collected) was a Pinnatus Batfish, an Emperor Angelfish (juvenile), a Scribbled Angelfish, a Volitan Lionfish (also other types of lionfish) and a Moorish Idol, as far as I can remember. I've never actually netted but have hand fed a Flathead perch and a juvenile Queen Angelfish. Meaning I'm confident that I most likely could have netted them if I'd wanted to. The most expensive fish I've ever paid money for was a Powder Blue Tang. Thumbs up on your vid.

Great video Jeff. Glad my fish made the top ten. I purchased a long nosed black tang from my LFS for $500 they were asking $750 for it. It is in my QT right now doing well. 👍you're right, some of these top ten fish can be quite expensive.
@negativeimage24456 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the vid. Interesting. Always loved the long nose tang, such a great contrast to most reef tank inhabitants. May I add the Clarion Angelfish? That's a special import of between 5k and upwards of 8k. Ultramarine had a featured tank about 4years ago and the fella had sourced one via a specialist importer for £4750 after being quoted £8000 elsewhere.

Is there an actual difference between a reg Dogface Puffer and a Yellow one? In most of my research I’ve been told they are the exact same just diff colors and each shop said when they ordered a dogface it could come in white, grey, yellow, or even blue sometimes? I am in the process of setting up a 120g (4x2x2) tank currently and a dogface is going to be the centerpiece to that tank. It’s also going to be my first step into the salt world (I’ve had multiple fresh tanks for over twenty years tho). In Most of my research I also found for the dogface to reach around only 12inches which would make this tank ok for it, but if the yellow does indeed get up to 18inch then I Def don’t want to cram it into a 24inch deep tank ect

most expensive fish i have purchased is not the fish i paid the most for... so far... it is a marine betta, at the time i bought him, online pricing was between $85-120, but i paid $30.... how you ask? when i was buying him, the store clerk dropped him from the top tank displays when netting him, onto a textured concrete floor. not only a 6"+ fall, but also was scrapped up really bad. he was not doing well and figured he would have a better chance to survive if i took him home rather than leave him in the store. so i bought at the discounted price. i nursed him back to health, and he recovered well. that was 1½ yrs ago. grown from just under 2" to almost 5" now. and shows no signs of ever being damaged. he has his own tank with custom foam/concrete background complete with a cave he likes to chill in. shared with brown leg hermits, couple of medium sized whelk snails, and a pencil urchin. (trying to keep a brown motife going, and am still searching for some starry hermits) of course he is not eating frozen or flake food, and never will. copepods are abundant, and regularly i add amphipods from fuges/sumps from other systems. one of my favorite fish, to date.
