Agreed. And you can see her fear when she says those hurtful things to them. She's so obviously hurting and feeling ambushed that she has to say those things or she'll cry/break down. Almost like she wants to apologize (especially after what she says to Paula), but just can't yet. SO WELL DONE.

I know it was an honorable mention, but the end of Nathaniel’s fantasy with the ‘please, let me be happy’ and the following scene where he cries in the arms of the pizza guy was far and away the most emotional scene for me. Especially in the context of the episode, as you realize Maya is really Rebecca in his dream, and Rebecca appears and asks him to let her go.

Number 10 is really sad because you can tell she’s trying to push them away because she’s scared. This is really typical of people with bpd; so scared of being abandoned they push those who love them away.

I have BPD and this scene is always hard for me to watch. I've done it so many times, and sometimes the relationships have never recovered. I've gotten to the point where I've often (attempted) to force partners to break up with me becasue in that moment I'm so scared of them doing it that I often just want the plaster to be ripped off. Living with BPD is horrid and this show helped me cope with it (I got my diagnosis about 4 months before S3 came onto Netflix)

binged this show earlier this year while in the middle of getting help for my own mental health/my own diagnosis of bipolar 2, and this show hit me like a truck. relating to the highs and lows that come with a diagnosis, the mixed feeling of being prescribed meds, how utterly terrifying it is that you might fall back into suicidal tendencies... i will never be able to express my gratitude to rachel bloom for making this show ❤️

All of these moments are really sad, but I'm kinda disappointed that they didn't put any of the sad moments between Greg and Rebecca, for example in the duck pond, or when she found out that he was an alcoholic, or the scene at the airport. For me the moment that gets me feeling the most emotional is in the last episode when Rebecca is struggling with her song lyrics and Valencia, Heather and Paula are sat in her house giving her their full support and Paula says “You’re doing great honey”. It’s just a really symbolic moment because Rebecca’s been through many highs and lows throughout the seasons and you see her finally in a good place doing something she loves. You just see Rebecca smile and know she is doing so well ❤️
@matthieus23 жыл бұрын
I personally think a heartbreaking moment is when she imagines her life married to either Greg, Nathaniel or Josh and she's not happy with either of them. I also agree Rebecca's overdose on the plane and asking for help. I do think the saddest for me in the clips were Dr Akopian telling her she deserves love, and her blaming herself at her wedding. Maybe I'm in a minority but I didn't find Greg leaving that sad as such, as it did seem Rebecca had been messing him around, even if not intentionally. I thought his drinking addiction was more sad.
@mystic0screams3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I'm glad they adressed alcoholism in this this. Cuz so many times shows portray people as 'social drinkers' and you feel like every scene the person has a drink in their hand. Greg admitting he had a problem made sense

My honorable mention is when Rebecca finds out her mom has been drugging her smoothies. Her mom expresses her terror and desperation that Rebecca is going to kill herself. While drugging someone is never okay, you feel the mom's panic and understand why she did what she did. It is also a time where you get a sense of maternal love that she's not great at expressing.

One scene not mentioned that made me tear up was when Rebecca and Greg were at the auto-shop (in lieu of the contrived hot air balloon date), just talking about what they wanted to order and smiling and laughing. I was going through a mental breakdown earlier this year (the darkest place i've ever been and i came really close to doing something irreversable...i want to say it was strength that stopped me but it wasn't, i was just too scared...on the plus side mental health services are finally helping me so thats a plus they're gunna help me get into college.) The meltdown coincided with my first time watcing this show, the OD scene on the plane really struck a nerve with me at the time and i love that it ended on a hopeful note. One thing i loved about the show it wasn't just 'oh wow, i'm all better' after a couple of episodes her recovery lasted until the end of the show. We saw her slip up a few times we see her skip therapy occasionally, and she wasn't demonised for that and i love how realistic they portrayed the recovery. (You know for a comedy musical.)

the moment where josh leaves rebecca is definitely one of the saddest, but tbh, i'm kinda glad he did. rebecca stalked him, manipulated him, lied to him and was only dragging herself down in the process. it's a heartbreaking moment, but it had to happen. (also: even tho i love rebecca, i feel like the show made a mistake by having her in a love triangle with josh again in the later season. rebecca deserves love and happiness, but josh shouldn't have forgiven her or at least trusted her again)
@science16443 жыл бұрын
Yes, that part and Valencia becoming friends with Rebecca so easily really squick me out. They are the two things I regret the most about the series.
@Unhappytimeaper3 жыл бұрын
@@science1644 even more when it’s clear that Rebecca only wanted to be friends because she wanted someone to complain about Josh too. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind they became friends but I hated how Rebecca only want to use Valencia and then never went back over that to make them bond over something more solid like a shared interest or something Also yeah, I think Rebecca and while her story of growth is good even as someone with plenty of mental health issues it’s hard for me to like her after what she’s done and how people keep going back. It’s one thing to have mental health struggles and do bad things but another to do bad things and use mental health problems to justify them which while I don’t think was the goal of the show felt like was happening a lot. Rebecca did some very serious things to Josh and while he wasn’t a good boyfriend either with plenty of struggles having him go back after very serious crimes made it feel like her actions had no serious consequences to the people around her. Edit; also like what she does to Josh by using someone else’s beliefs to make his friends and entirety of the town dislike him isn’t okay. She actively mentally tortures him, gets him in trouble with everyone, goes after his family all because she wants him to be miserable. Like I know we are suppose to feel bad for Rebecca but as some point I can’t sympathize with her anymore because she just does so much to make it hard & it makes me even more upset when Josh turns out to move on from it. While he had his own faults and issues Rebecca was not good to him in anyway to the point mental illness I don’t think can ever fix her actions and by right it back as it was it feel like it does. Having mental health problems and doing things mean people can and will leave you if you continue to do bad things and it’s not easily fixed with unconditional love like the show presents- having Josh not come back to me a potential love interest shows that.

I absolutely love Joah it's just you know what I mean. Btw im binge watching the series for the 6th time. I rewatch the shit out of this show 1 or 2 times a year because its so motivational. I find Rebecca’s reprise to be the saddest of all songs, especially when she sang the same lyrics as Darrel « daddy’s little girl, princesse of my love ».
