Top 10 most iconic family storylines in The history of The Sims

The Sims has been around for over 20 years and in that time there have been 4 generations of the franchise on PC alone, the first game of it’s kind, there was enough going on in the sims to keep people intrigued and wanting more.
From the ability to customize homes, choose careers, procreate and essentially play with an electronic dolls house, there was a lot to be enjoyed. One aspect of the game that was indeering from the beginning and even more so in the second sims game was the storytelling aspect of the re-occuring characters.
So in todays video we are going to be counting down the top 10 most iconic family storylines in the entire sims series.
You can expect to see some regular faces included here: Goth, Broke, Pleasant and plenty more!

The Pleasants are kind of in The Sims 1, too. Daniel (as a child) and his parents Jeff and Diane are in the base game's "family bin."

Yes, they surely are. I used to play them back in Sims 1. Also spent tons of time with the Newbies. In fact, some friends and I have kind of created a Bob Newbie line of our own. I was never aware that there was or would be a timeline associated with them ... or any of the other pre-made families. Good times though for sure.

Exactly. They may not be as memorable in the Sims 1, but anyone who played them was thrilled to see Daniel and Jennifer as adults in The Sims 2.

TS2 had do much life, the sims felt like real people we could get to know through their memories, aspirations, wants and fears. The way they expressed themselves as well was really special and made us all feel connected. The world was alive and full of mystery. I miss TS2 gameplay

I actually agree with most of your picks, but would not have included the Pancakes (there are far more interesting families that imo are more iconic), like the Specter Family (especially Olive and Nervous Subject), the Smiths (especially Pollination Tech 9), the Curious Family and the Beakers.

I love the beakers so much.. I know Loki and nervous did not get along when the storyline but after playing that house so many times having everyone sit around the table chatting it up.. everyone just became friends.

I would have included the Smith's from TS2. Pollination Technician #9 is pretty involved in a lot of the story from that game, including the disappearance of Bella Goth. They were also recreated for TS4.

BTW, Nina and Dina Caliente do make an appearance in TS3 - Barnacle Bay. They’re young adults and from what I understand it’s after the events of Pleasantview(?). TBH, almost every expansion of TS3 is happening at a different time.

Sad Ophelia and Nervous Subject weren't in this. Especially with the heartbreaking story of Nervous being taken from his mum, adopted to be a test/experiment by his new family and the mystery of his dad possibly being the grim reaper.

An idea for a video, since Agnes get mad and attacks sims for getting frisky in public, trap her in public with three couples and have them make out repeatedly to see how long it would take Agnes to get so mad that she dies from a fit!

These videos of yours detailing the history of the families in the various Sims franchises are quite educational for me. Except for the times the game *makes* me play with an in-game family (Sims 1 tutorial, Busting Out, Sims 2 Castaways, and the like), I've never played them. I would create my own family as soon as possible. So while my sims have interacted with members of these families, I've never gotten into their lore or even seen the interiors of most of their homes. 😄 Thanks a bunch, and keep these short videos going in-between your let's play series.

I think the Pleasant family was already introduced in the Sims 1. Edit: after checking it; there indeed was a Pleasant family in the Sims 1, with Daniel Pleasant as a child. In the Sims 2 he has married Marie-Sue and got the twins Angela en Lilith.

My favorites are the Goths, the Landgraabs and especially the Romeo and Juliet families ❤️ I had to read the play for my english class and TS2 helped me a lot understanding the plot. English is not my first language and I was 10 I think and that's not an easy read for a non-native english child speaker, so the game really was a big help! I really am only familiar with the Console version of the early sims games and i really got into the sims 4 on pc. I have owned and played the sims 1 and 2 and even 3 on pc but i really just enjoyed creating my own sim over playing prebuilt families. However in the Sims 4 the Ito family from Mt. Komorebi is my favorite. You can learn so much about them just from socializing and just viewing their house. The house shows their personality so well. That it made me want to learn more about them which i did. They are so far the only townie family that really drew me into wanting to learn more about them. So they would be my most iconic family followed by of course the Landgraabs. Tho when you think about it he takes the wicked step father role in one of the sims games on console.

Now I've only played the sims 1 and recently started sims4. I never knew there were storylines to follow. I always thought it was just create someone and play them. I have been enjoying 4 and currently just had 5th Gen sims. The 3rd Gen I had the son marry Angela Plesant and they had a set of twin daughters I named Ephiny and Cyane. The twins both married and got pregnant at the same time to the Polluck twins.

Same here. For many years I played the Sims and created my own families and stories. Even had/have a long running LP from a couple of my families over on my other YT channel (NJP Sims). I only "discovered" that there were actually timelines in the Sims franchise after playing for a couple years. I still don't really play those scenarios/families. Maybe I am selfish, but I actually prefer to stay involved in my own timeline(s). Your story sounds intriguing as well. Twins who married twins. I wonder if both families had twins as well. That's a lot of twins! LOL.

Someone probably pointed it out but The Sims 4 is a alternate universe for The Sims 1+2 According to the events of one of the TS3 expansion packs Alexander Goth travelled back in time and got stuck in the past, but he managed to make a book that became a massive hit and it prevented Bella's disappearence. The Goths and the Calients (+ Lothario) of TS4 are a "what if"

Hi I like the Wolff family and Van Gould as their is a similar kind of story to monty and Capp with a few differences . I’m going to tell you anyway but pappy Wolff and Ayden Van Gould have a rivalry over who founded the town one says the other did however they both put parts into it . Then you have the children but the ones with the interesting story is walyon Wolff and Emelie Wolff . Waylon being the loner of the Wolff family not liking the outdoors but also being romantically invoked with the nemesis is of the rivalry family Emelie Van Gould . Ayden thought the only thing different from his daughter Emelie Van Gould was that she likes pop music and hot pink but wouldn’t have suspected that she is involve with the nemesis rivals grandson Waylon Wolff .

I play The Sims 2 and I had my sim marry Armand DeBateau yesterday. Then I had both them retire from their jobs and moved them to a hacienda. I sent Armand's adopted daughter Tara to college. Today, they had a son named Damian who grew up to be a kid. Surprisingly, it was Armand who did more of the raising rather than my sim.

There is a tab for them, I think it's in the same menu as personality traits. It has an icon like a thought bubble from comic books. If you're playing together with someone who can see it you can guide them to find it. Edit: this is for the Sims 2, I haven't played the other games so I don't know if they're in a similar place, but you can try.
