Zoe Perry deserves an Emmy Nomination for the scene where Mary breaks down over George's sudden death. Though their marriage had its problems, they were in a healthier place, and her anger at him for leaving her alone was palpable.

It’s amazing that Sheldon enshrines his mom despite the fact that she tried keeping him from going to college at a young age. If it wasn’t for him stumbling on the letter he never would have gone. And despite his father not being as smart he is he still pushed Sheldon to pursue education and helped him achieve what he wanted along the way. He was such an under appreciated parent

Different writing teams. Also, the last episodes of TBBT were centered on Sheldon's self-centeredness that was breaking all his friendships and almost his marriage. Mixing that with thanks to *everybody* who helped him through the years would have diluted the dramatic moment. Also, he had written a book of an acceptance speech, which he put aside. You bet *everybody* was mentioned in it 😂

Mary was a pretty bad person/wife for not even considering how George felt about the decisions that she was making for Sheldon. George truly deserved better than that. On the other hand, she did have her good mom moments in the show as well.

There are some episodes where Mary is the main villain. The season 3 finale is one of them. There's good reason Sheldon wanted his dad in that one Yeah, Sheldon choosing MIT and then changing his mind because of the weather was something I did not see coming. It makes sense. He grew up in Texas which has no snow so he doesn't know how to handle that weather. California weather is closer to what he's used to. The fight in the season 4 finale was a mixed bag. Initially, Mary was right because George was punishing Sheldon for Missy ripping up his poster. And that was on top of telling Sheldon not to go into his own room. Mary was the one who handled that problem the way it needed to be handled. But another aspect of the fight is Mary saying "Our whole life is doing what YOU want." Um, seriously? George turned down a promotion just for his family. It made him unhappy and he did it for his family. He bought a house across the street from Mary's mom, though she shows know respect for him, just for Mary. It's insane how his sacrifices went unnoticed. Mary miscarrying wasn't a huge shock. We know they didn't have another child. We knew the number of children they had from the first time that Mary appeared on The Big Bang Theory. It's sad, but it makes her like my mom. My mom also had 2 sons, a daughter, and a miscarriage. Relatability. It's pretty cool Mee Maw and Georgie being arrested shouldn't be on this list. She'd been breaking the law for 2 years. She should be arrested. It was strange that cop turned on her, but is it surprising that a dirty cop would do that? Dr. Sturgis's mental breakdown was sad, but he recovered. Mee Maw's house getting destroyed was definitely a tragedy The "Three Knocks" clarification made no sense. Does that mean that when Mary yelled at George and his girlfriend, she was yelling at HERSELF!?!? Mary breaking down was a great moment. I think you got #1 wrong. It should have been George's death

That was because when they wrote the final episodes of The Big Bang Theory, only 1 season of Young Sheldon had aired. He only appeared 3 times in that. We hadn't gotten to know him very well. The writers of The Big Bang Theory didn't think it'd make sense to bring him up

The episode when Sheldon chooses to run away with Missy because he "was her big brother", therefore was his responsibility to keep her safe, was a mind blow for me, only for the fact that this type of compassion was very out of character for him, especially with his siblings. I’ll admit that I did have mixed feelings about George’s cheating. On the one hand, it had a huge impact on Sheldon’s character for TBBT. One the other hand, it was an excellent retcon considering George is just too beloved despite his flaws.

Mary is a horrible person in this series. She constantly steam rolls over George with making critical decisions about the kids, never gives him credit, nags, him. Her expectations are unrealistic. She's either ignoring Georgie or Missy or pointing out her disappointment with their choices.

She often doesn't trust George's opinion when it comes to the kids. Sometimes she's wrong (hiding the letter from CalTech). Sometimes she's right (Missy needed to be punished for tearing up the poster. Sheldon should never have been told not to go in his own room). The times that she is wrong are very infuriating. But the times that she is right make it understandable why she acts this way. True, she never gives him credit. But he never gives her credit for all the housework she does. and all the childcare she does. Things often fall apart at home unless someone else steps up. In season 3 episode 11 and in the season 4 finale, Mary wasn't home and everything went to hell at home. In season 7, a teenage girl had to step up and run the house when Mary wasn't home. I think she deserves plenty of credit for what she does when she is it home and he doesn't give it to her. This is an area where both George and Mary need to improve on. Her expecting her kids to go to church and follow her religion is wrong. Her expecting her kids to decent upstanding citizens is what every parent wants from their child. There have been plenty of times where she did stuff for Missy and Georgie. And when she is disappointed in them, it's usually warranted. She's not perfect but she certainly is not a horrible person.
