It’s midnight right now and I’m going through my dads old case of his baseball cards and I can’t tell y’all how blessed I feel right now to see he has every card in this list. Multiples. John freaking loved this and my favorite part is seeing all the slabs of the PSA 9’s and PSA 10’s and noticing almost every single one has a slant or slight diamond cut to them. Makes me really excited about trying to hunt more 79’s centered in PSA 5-8’s. My PSA 6’s of my Ozzie RCs had the same centering as that 9 showed here. Man you just pumped me up thank you 💪🏻🤙🤙

Glad you liked it Dylan! Yeah those 79s are so hard to find perfectly centered. My Ozzie is in a 5 and it has decent centering. The Winfield and Stargell are also really hard to find well centered.

Thanks for sharing, John. I thought that Nolan Ryan's base card would have made top ten as well as Jim Kaat (recent HOF). Looking forward to your 1978 video. I have an idea on who would be #1, but will wait until your video to see if I'm right or not.

Yeah. Munson remains a popular player in the hobby, but just doesn't reach to the level of the other players, even though it is his last Topps card. I remember hearing about him passing and looking through my cards to see if I had any. I had (and still have) his 73, 77, 78, and 79.

Kinda bummed Schmidt didn’t make the cut. I’ve got a 9. Someone on eBay is trying to sell a 10 for $3,500. That’s a bit much in my opinion.

His 9s currently go for about $88 on average. 10s go for about $1,660 on average, so yes, a $3,500 asking price is very high. There are 45 PSA 10s.

What about griffey, conception, and dusty baker??

The Griffey in a PSA 10 is only $127. The Concepcion in a PSA 9 is only $164. In a PSA 10 it is $1,500, but has a POP of only 1, so that didn't qualify for the list. The Baker in a PSA 9 is $286, not high enough to crack the Top 10. There are no PSA 10s for the Baker.

I can't be the only one that sees Kevin Seitzer on that 79 Brett instead of George. I know it's not possible, but man, thats gotta be George Brett's least 'looking like George Brett' card ever

@@WadeBoggsFan Seitzer wasn't a rookie until the mid 80's, but that 79 Topps Brett is almost a dead ringer for the 1990 Upper Deck Kevin Seitzer. I also can't find any other images of Brett wearing the flip shades, and I don't remember ever seeing him wearing them in real time as a kid watching games. Maybe Topps took the picture on Brett 'trying these things out' day😁EDIT: I stand corrected; 1989 Upper Deck George Brett has the flips. Crisis averted😂

That's nice that Shane Rawley has one card graded a 10 theres a Hockey player back in the late 70's his name is Gary Croteau he played for the Kansas city scouts and Colorado Rockies do you think anybody is willing to pay in the thousand's for those rare cards? same with Shane Rawley ? if it was say a Dwight Evens, Cecil Cooper than that may be a rariety but not Rawley? these prices are off the wall. remember you buy the card not the grade yes you want a nice copy. but 323. for the Ryan and Johnson is very high that should be a 4.00 card. you can tell the difference between a card graded that has a ton of creases and that same card same condition ton of creases an authentic in a card savor? you can tell the difference between a card graded an 8 and a card that's near Mint. so grading shouldn't matter I love the strike out leaders of Ryan and JR Richard but not at 344.00 I like it for around 10..00 dollars? do collectors go to shows and ask for Stargell cards? I know they ask for 1979 cards but do they ask for Stargell cards? I have a Steve Garvey mines not a 10 I would guess probably a 5 or a 6 got the card as a kid. as a Yankee fan i'm not paying 1,335 for Mr. Octobers 30.00 sounds about right\ to me?

Always appreciate your comments Mark. But you have to understand that graded cards, especially very high grade examples that don't have that many at that grade sell for way more than an ungraded card. Sure, you could probably pick up an ungraded Ryan/Johnson card in a really nice condition for around $4. But for those collectors who want a graded copy in a high grade (some don't always go by "buy the card not the grade" philosophy) they are willing to pay a really high price especially if not many are graded that high. Most collectors wouldn't pay those prices, but there are clearly some out there that are willing to. I know you don't collect graded cards, but if you did you would realize that they sell for more than ungraded cards. As for Stargell cards, I saw a good number for sale when I went to a Pittsburgh show last year. I think that's where his cards are more popular.

To get the values that you saw on the video they would need to be graded. Raw cards sell for far less, even in really good condition.

U missed on the Eddie Murray card

Thanks. But in the video, I stated that I would not count a card if their highest grade had a population count of less than 50 due to how rare they would be and in some cases would skew the results. There have only been 36 1979 Topps Eddie Murray cards that have been graded a PSA 10, so I didn't use that value. His PSA 9s only go for around $75, which is nowhere near the cards in the Top 10. If I had used his PSA 10 value, his card might have ended up at #2.
