Daemon is, without a shadow of a doubt, my favourite character in the series so far. And yet, despite so many people saying they like him for "being grey" it really just sounds like most people just want him to be the good guy, which he's never been, in both the book and the show. I think the problem is people think "grey" and antihero mean the same thing. Daemon is said to be made of equal parts of both darkness and light. The blackest villain, or a loved hero, depending on who you ask. This isn't because he's simply just misunderstood, it's because both of them are true, which is what makes him "grey" in the very first place.

I think that's pretty debatable. Part of the reason the house survived is because there was a proper line of succession he usurped and thus people had a reason to see him as the traitor and not that the whole of the house was a problem. Which they could have well done that early into their rule. And what they eventually did with aerys and houses and militant or religious groups periodically did throughout their dynasty.

This person is assuming that his way was the only way his achievements could’ve been accomplished when we know that clearly isn’t the case. The most prosperous time through the entire Targaryen dynasty was under Jaehaerys I, and was almost entirely peaceful. Not to mention that Aegon was literally called the Conquerer, but was never noted as particularly cruel. It is a perfect example of the fact that you can both be fair and exercise force.

Aegon, the 4th, was not the grandson of Baelor, the blessed. They were cousins. After Baelor died without having any children, Baelor's uncle (Viserys the 2nd) became king. When Viserys the 2nd dead the throne passed to his son: Aegon the 4th.

People loved Daemon Blackfyre so much, that they were willing to fight a war to make him King, even though he was the clear usurper, which is rather different from Rhaenyra's situation, in which she boldly tried to pass off obvious bastards as trueborns.

Why is it we that Daemon is being judged by the show actions while all the rest are described as in the books? Yes, he was vicious however there was a logical method to his brand of cruelty unlike his relatives like The Mad King. Daemon was in the Stepstones fighting the Triarchy when his Wife in The Vale died. As for the city watch “mutilation” punishments he meted out it was a hand for theft, gelding for rape, and a life for the taking of a life… all of which are still considered justified in many countries.

You forgot one thing about Maegor. He also captured his Nephew Viserys and had Tyanna torture him to death trying to get information out of him. He also forced his niece Rhaena to marry him in hopes to produce pure blooded children. So there for she has forced to marry and bed the man who killed her husband using her twin daughters as leverage so she would comply. In my opinion Maegor the cruel was by far the most evil Targaryen.

not even close. Maegor is demonized by the in-world history books. Sure he forced his niece to marry him (his mother tried to betroth him to Rhaena 20+ years prior but they wouldnt let him for some stupid reason which leads to the faith uprising when she marries her brother instead...) and had his nephew killed from torture but we know very little context about it at all. Many of his actions saved his house from being overthrown and he only made his more unhinged decisions as he faced more and more betrayal. Theres also the high possibiltiy his brain was decaying as Tyanna used unknown magic (similar to what mirri maz dur uses on khal drogo in AGOT) to keep him alive after a month in a coma after being smashed in the head during the trial of seven. Soon after he kills her for betraying him all along, he was noted to be sluggish and confused, probably because her magic was wearing off after her death, and he is found dead shortly after. I wont act like hes a saint or a good guy, hes chaotic neutral at best, but people like Aegon IV, Aerion Brightflame, Aerys II or even "good" characters such as Daemon or Bloodraven have done much worse acts and are far more evil

This is at the end of the war and this story does not have a happy ending really for anyone involved except maybe the Maesters who want all the dragons and Valyrians dead.
