I love it all. You showcased some true talent, dedication, and athleticism. I did cheer and gymnastics as a kid, didn't stick with it though. As an adult, I think competitive cheer is one of the coolest things ever. It's like cheer, gymnastics, and acrobatics with an INCREDIBLE amount of trust in the team. So beautiful to watch.

I was crossing my fingers that you had included #3, which is my #1. It might be common at those competitions, but it makes me so happy that the whole room, including their competitors, would scream the count to make sure they finished.

@miqeyt33172 жыл бұрын
So they were all screaming 3, 1, 7, 5 or sumthin like that? Y would this b? Did u music go out or sumthin??
@ElizabethT452 жыл бұрын
@@miqeyt3317 Yes, the music cut out. In Cheer, instead of counting 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 for the timing of each move, only the odd numbers are counted as "1 (pause) 3 (pause) 5 (pause) 7 (pause), 1 - 3 - 5 - 7" etc. Cheer moves depend on every person hitting their correct move at the same time, and in practices, the team members who are not performing the routine are standing on the sides yelling those numbers to keep the team together. In this video, everyone in the auditorium is helping this team stay on their count so they can finish their routine.

I love it when the crowd counts for when the music cuts out that happened to me once when I was preforming (I do competitive cheer) and the whole crowd was counting so loud for us by the time we where going to start our cheer after the dance portion the crowd was so loud that they didn’t even know that we where cheering and the judges had to tell the girls and boys to stop counting it was so powerful but it would have been 10x better with music

I did Jr high, high school, and all-star cheer. TOP GUN AND CHEER ATHLETICS were always the best! I would have loved to been on a texas squad in the late 90s or early 2000s. Loved competing against them every year, and they made us work harder being a small all girls squad from Arknasas.

I was involved and chair and song leading in California during the big changes of the early 1980s. Rey Lozano brought music into the cheer competitions. I am so glad that cheer has been accepted as a sport. Gymnastics was very important in the old days as were pyramids. For some reason safety rules were developed and you can no longer make pyramids by stepping on backs or shoulders. Today it is all stunt groups and I can’t imagine the safety risks of these groups. All of the pyramids are just stunt groups coming together. I also believe there are too many people on the floor. It should be 24 max. Some routines look like they are just trying to throw everything into the mix without any coherence theme or true creativity. I know things have to change and some of the changes are good. But I think chair could look back to the past and pick up some old tricks and make them new again. And really think about those so-called safety rules.

So, ooooooooooooo, when I was in college in the 70s, a major athletic accomplishment and phenomenon to make the front page was when a cheerleader managed to twirl not one but two batons but at the same time. In the 80s I hear someone actually lit them up. As a Darwinian follower, I'm so glad that theory holds water. You guys are absolutely amazing.

I'm only here because I'm watching 'Dare Me'..I'm also Scottish so I have absolutely no idea about cheerleading apart from teen college movies ....I had to see the bow and arrow and High-V Approach. Cone-Motion Approach. Toe Touch etc. done in real life...then I had to rewind a couple times...'Did those girls actually jump over their right leg while holding their left leg and being held up by 3 other girls'...Yup!.....Very impressive...Should it be an Olympic sport?...Well if they cut out the drinking (Dare Me)...then Hell yes!
