Hot Pursuit 2010 and The Run when they came out had me jumping out of my fucking seat. Those two-three years when Hot Pursuit 2010, The Run, and Most Wanted 2 came out were hype as fuck and I just remember sitting down on X-Live playing with my buddies from school just having a good time, thinking back on like Carbon and shit. So UG, UG2, MW, and C are definitely the legacy golden age, but HP2010, Run, and MW2 are a close second. When NFS2015 came out we all thought it was going to happen again, but Payback just didn't live up to the hype, and the absence of an NFS game in 2016 didn't help.

Carbon was also the first one that i've played... and i loved these canyon races... even tho they were frustrating at the beginning and you had to try like 1.000 times to finish it... but it literally never tilted me or anything, i loved to keep on going and continue over and over again, after like 1.000 tries, when you finally finished that shit... it felt so fucking good, that you thought you're now able to beat anyone in that game x'D

Probably same. I’ve had very different experiences from the top 3 I’ve played so I don’t know if I could pick a favorite, but most wanted’s cop chases were ridiculously stupid fun. When I was bored I would get in my heaviest feeling fastest car and completely demolish the police department for 30 minutes. In that game the difficulty actually increased the longer you played and it felt higher stakes. Probably no other game made my heartbeat so consistently. Watching the replay of a cop car pirouetting over my car just missing me right after I slammed into it and double backed into a drift is still etched into my mind, and one of my favorite gaming memories ever.

I have too many NFS games to count but NFS Carbon still to this day with the new NFS release is still the best. My opinion of course but Carbon has full crew customization, amazing car mods and parts, very good story, and best of all a pretty big open world of Palmont City! OH and not to mention the cops in this game are actually insane when you reach about heat 4+.

Undercover was in a weird spot, it was a good game (on consoles, PC is just horrendous based on what I've played, not even close to what it was on consoles) that had some rather unique gameplay mechanics at the time, a pretty good set of cars, a great story, decent customisation, and that's about it. It's around the time that NFS started going downhill for me personally (don't get me wrong, Hot Pursuit (2010) is a good game and Most Wanted (2012) is a decent game, just no where near as good as pre-Hot-Pursuit games).

Francisco Perez The version I played could have been some prototype or beta version that was leaked or whatever, but it's UI was absolutely nothing like what it was on PS2, the cars just looked broken with simple phong shading (no reflections like what Carbon and shit had years prior, just a simple little specular highlight from the sun or whatever), car physics was screwy, and crashed on me a couple times. Not 30 minutes and I gave up and deleted it.

The cops in Rivals are deadly as hell, they share the same tactic in MW 2005 but they're much more stronger. They drive hypercars in higher heat levels and can equip deadly pursuit tech. They're very hard to outrun and have a smart AI.

UG2 had LOTS more choices for customisation over Most Wanted, in short... the usual selection of customisation elements from the BlackBox era of NFS games (front and rear bumpers, side skirts, hoods / bonnets, spoiler, roof scoop, rims, exhaust tips, performance options, wide body kit, headlights and taillights, etc), carbon fiber options for some of these (bumpers, skirts, hoods / bonnets, spoilers, scoops IIRC), lots more options for a lot of these, side mirrors, flashing neons in a larger variety of colours than UG1 provided (and since MW doesn't offer neons, doesn't count) for both underglow, under-hood and trunk, nitrous purge systems available in 3 "tiers" in a variety of colours and locations, hydraulics, sound systems, scissor and suicide doors, split hoods, customisable in-game gauges, lots more options for window tint and decals, spinner rims, performance kits with sub-items (so Engine Level 1 performance has a heap of sub-items you can purchase separately, or as the entire kit to get them all at a discount), performance and dyno tuning that GREATLY affects how your car performs on a specific type of race, the ability to unlock custom body items from the outrun minigame that you cannot purchase normally, customisation of the car's trunk in unique layouts per car, available in 3 tiers with each tier allowing more stuff, and you can customise what goes where (slot 1 and 2 might have a large sub, slot 3 might have an amp, slot 4 might have a large NOS bottle, slot 5 might have a large monitor, and in SUVs there was at least like 7 different slots to customise), and I'm still likely missing some. Most Wanted has nothing on Underground 2 for customisation, Underground 2 was *the* king of customisation, even now it still remains *the* king of customisation.

Is Rivals really better than than the all time classics Most Wanted 2005, Carbon and the Underground series especially Underground 2. Most certainly you are very new to NFS, you should certainly play those games and then decide which one you like the most. After finishing all those games you will be shocked at your very poor taste in games and what you have missed. Rivals only rivals other games as among the worst games ever produced by NFS since other than graphics the game is a absolute disaster. But then all NFS really cares about these days is just graphics, they just dont really give a damn about features which made the Fab 4 such classics.
