Top 10 Node Wrangler keyboard shortcuts | Blender Secrets

ctrl+shift+click to send a node output directly to to surface output. Good to inspect textures separately

ctrl + shift + LMB - quick preview of any node. Click twice or more to change output (if this node has multiple outputs, of course) alt + S - swap inputs of node, useful for color mixers or math ctrl + shift + RMB + drag - adds mix shader for shaders or color mixer for others shift + alt + RMB + drag - similar to lazy connect but you can specify what output and input you want to connect ctrl + X - delete node but keep its link connected to each other

I second the 'Ctrl +Shift +RMB drag' for adding a mix shader between two nodes, it's probably my most used node wrangler shortcut. I watch so many tutorials where they use node wrangler but add in mix shaders manually, I want to leap through the screen and tell them! Ha ha

Blender 4.0 broke my often used shift+S to change an existing shader type. From a noise texture to a vector math for example. It's still broken in 4.1

It's a real shame, I used that one a lot too. It's not broken, they remove the operator. It says it will be re-introduced in a future version, I hope it's true.

@@BlenderSecrets kind of sounds like Blender is making a native version of it. Will be interesting what they do. I just had hoped it would be resolved for 4.1.

Shift left click is a must have for instant preview of any part of the node tree, I have no clue if it's not just part of core Blender at this point lol

I would also add "hold ALT and drag a node to disconnect it from in-between nodes, CTRL+SHIFT+left click to preview a node, H to hide and M to mute nodes

I can never remember the shift-control-alt-right-left-mouse-click-drag ones, but the rest are easy for me to remember. Muting nodes is also very handy.

Some of these are features specific to the Shader Editor. Since Node Wrangler also works in Geometry nodes, it could be good to specify.

The basic node wrangler hotkeys, like cutting the noodle, are like imprinted in my bloodstream so strongly that I no longer realize they're not Blender native.

the shift+ctrl+d to duplicate connected hasn't worked for me. Does anyone know of an addon that interferes with that shortcut?

Sometimes "enable 3-button mouse" hinders some shortcuts or functions in my experience. Maybe that?
