I would love to hop over to Gotland next time I'm around Estonia during the summer. It really looks quite beautiful, and you've definitely enticed me with all those museums! 🤩 I would venture to go in December since I will be in Tallinn, but I feel like I wouldn't really get the full experience if I did
@ThreeStarVagabond2 ай бұрын
I think Gotland in winter might be really interesting! There are no tourists, and most things are closed - but people who go there say that it's extremely beautiful and pleasant without all the people. But if you're looking for specific places, you might want to check if they're open or not. And maybe skip the Blue Lagoon ;D
@lulu.chains.882 ай бұрын
@@ThreeStarVagabond That's very true! Less tourists is always a very tempting pro, and I'm sure the snow will make it look quite magical as well 🙂 Out of curiosity are you a fan of Halloween? Can we expect a video on it? I know it's become an established holiday in Sweden since the 1990's, it would be cool to see how it differs from how we celebrate it in the states 😁 And I thank you for making all these very informative videos about your country, I truly enjoy them a lot! I've been studying Swedish since last year and I think learning about your culture alongside the language is so very important too!
@ThreeStarVagabond2 ай бұрын
@@lulu.chains.88 Oh wow, that's ambitious, to learn the language as well! Awesome work. I guess that I'm doing the same with Japanese actually :D But yeah, I like Halloween and it's "semi-big" in Sweden. It's not a big holiday, and not all that many kids do trick or treating. But people love throwing Halloween parties. Hmm.. Maybe it's time that I make a "Halloween in Sweden" video!
@lulu.chains.882 ай бұрын
@@ThreeStarVagabond I took a Japanese class many years ago, but it was too difficult for me. I like learning Swedish quite a lot tho, it's truly a beautiful language, but my ADHD makes it very hard to do my daily lessons 😅 I wish you good luck with learning Japanese! And I hope you can go to Japan and show us your adventures there some day! 🙂

Hey, that's awesome! Glad to hear that you enjoyed the ruins - I love that there are so many well-preserved historical places on the island. And yeah, they certainly have an (unhealthy?) fascination with sheep over there... Cheers and have a great one!

Can't blame you for wishing to highlight Visby, but it is perhaps the only part of Scandinavia even harder hit by overtourism than Gamla stan, or a certain piece of art in Copenhagen. Thanks for a great video reminding me of the last time I was in Visby. Next time I go there, I'll be visiting in autumn/fall, winter or spring. Because I know better than people engaging in overtourism.

Sounds like a good plan! Unfortunately I really want to visit Medeltidsveckan again, so... I shall continue to wrestle with overtourism. And speaking of that, I just might have another video coming up later about just that topic...

Roma kloster would have been seriously impressive when it was built, I think so anyway, historically do you think religion was more important to the Swedish people? It looked like ragarre had made its way across to Visby too🚗. Is it easy to get around the island without a car ? Great video again, I have an ever growing list of things I would like to return to Sweden to do, Thank you and stay safe in your travels 👍
@ThreeStarVagabond2 ай бұрын
Sweden was extremely religious up until maybe the mid 1900s actually. Religion and the church was super important to everyone - that's why the Reformation (where power was taken away from the church) was a really sensitive political move. It's actually not all that easy to get around without a car. But many people rent bikes and take a few days biking across the island. I opted for a car when I was there - but biking would be a lot of fun too! ^_^ Cheers!
