#4 was explained in the show. Cora shielded a certain part of the enchanted forest from Regina's curse and anyone in the part of the forest was not transported to Storybrooke. #6 Grandma gave Ruby a Magic Bean so she could move back to the enchanted forest. The bigger mystery to me was where were all these magic beans popping up whenever someone needed one when they were all supposed to be destroyed. Even the ones Tiny grew in Storybrooke were destroyed by Regina and Cora. I'm one of those people who wished Season 7 didn't happen. Maybe if they had to have a season 7 stay in Storybrooke and focus on another character's story we would have liked to see like Lily, Mulan or Ruby, season 7 would have been better.

7. It's not like she can immediately sense if someone is lying or not like an actual Superpower. she just calls it that to make herself feel more confident in what she is doing. It's more likely that she simply learned a lot of tricks during her time as an orphan and later bails bonds person, and that she simply knows a lot about signs to look for when someone is lying. It isn't easy to do that if you are emotionally involved or if they are really good at hiding certain signs. Also especially in Season 2 we see how hard it is for Emma to cope in a world full of magic, so it's hard for her to trust in her abilities anymore if all the rules she has learned don't seem to apply anymore.

One can assume they're in their thirties-sixties when you first see them, but given the fact that they've been living in a town that is "outside of time" where they are essentially ageless, they're actually in their fifties-eighties. Between that and the fact that everyone older than that, namely Rumplestiltskin and Hook, are older than three-hundred years, and Gothel, who's probably four-hundred years old, it's pretty safe to assume that Magic is the source of their de-aged state.

Henry is the only one seemingly growing up because he was born in the real world. Thats why when the curse hit and all the other characters where going back to the enchanted forest, Emma and Henry are the only ones that could stay. They even mention it. Henry would've been left alone there. Emma would've gone to the forest too because she was born there, but aged normally in the real world because there was no magic. Really almost all of these so called "plot holes" could be solved by just you know watching the show.
@musiclover1995v3 жыл бұрын
Most of these were either explained in the show, or just complicated and confusing but still made sense (like the timelines). The biggest plot hole to me was all the portals and magic beans. @SJSippin4 жыл бұрын
For #8, since it’s a curse that can be broken, perhaps the book just showing up is a sign that their stories can never be erased and that they’ll always exist. Mary Margaret giving the book to Henry was the start of this curse being broken. So maybe there’s some underlying magic under the curse that makes the book appear during all the curses. That’s only a theory and hopefully that made sense. Haha
@dudassergio4 жыл бұрын
Actually they answered why some people scaped the first curse, because Cora made a protection spell to save her and Killian from the curse, where they would be frozen in time, and when the time was right they would come back to the mission. We see that the protection spell covered a big area from the Enchanted Forest, and that's why a lot of people like Aurora, Phillip and Mulan weren't brought to Storybrooke.

@sadlobster14 жыл бұрын
I never noticed any of these issues, mainly because I've had my own "headcanon" ideas of how they got resolved. Here is my list of such explanations for THIS list. 10. I never really thought that much on the characters ages, to be honest. I mean...when you've lived in a town that's been frozen in time for a long period, it's bound to have done something to them physically. Plus, storybook characters don't really age; unless others have forgotten about them. To elaborate; in the realm of animation, stuff like Tiny Toon Adventures revealed that laughter keeps toons "young." When the laughter stops, they grow old and forgotten. This same idea could explain why the fairy tale characters in OUAT never aged. 9. In the time it took to create the curse AND Storybrook, Regina and Rumple must've made it so that the town would never run out of resources. If it did, that would lead to people leaving the town; which would then put their plans at risk. 8. My theory is that it's not the book itself that's important, it's the WORDS inside it; specifically, the Author's words. Once The Author puts his powers to work on the paper, that's when things start to happen. Thus, the book itself isn't all that important; it's just something to record the "histories" of these characters. 7. It's not really a "super power" in a literal sense; rather, I saw it as Emma having a strong intuition and judgment of character. As for what "happened to it;" my guess is that after everything she experienced, she chose to trust her heart more than her instincts. 6. If we remember correctly, Ruby chose to remain with Dorothy; after she saved her life. Now; as for what happened to her in the series finale, when all the realms merged together...my guess is she's still with Dorothy. But I would've liked to see her pop by the diner, after the big battle; to be honest. 5. The Evil Queen side of Regina wasn't really...severe levels of evil like Joker, Thanos or...even Rick Sanchez. But rather, I saw her as a sort of "Neutral Evil," as is known in the realm of D&D. She's not quite as bad as the Dark One...but isn't someone you should pick on. 4. I would guess that, as Lancelot said, the spell only affected a specific region of the magical/fairy tale realm. The Enchanted Forest (known as Misthaven to the people of Arendel, Anna and Elsa's homeland) must've been home to all of Regina's enemies (Snow White, Charming, Red, the Dwarves, Pinocchio etc.) As such, those outside the region like Aurora or Mulan might've been spared. 3. I would guess that Mulan's still working as a protector for those in need of help; like maybe, Aurora or Merida. She never quite stuck with me like other characters in the show did. But at the same time, I would've loved to see if Shang appeared in the series. 2. While I'm not certain if these count as typical laws, they are still moral ones where magic is concerned. Such examples include forbidding the use of necromancy, you can't manipulate emotions (like love) for your own gain (i.e. force a person to fall in love with you,) you can't use a genie's wishes to kill someone and other such examples. But in the case for this "plot hole," there's a big difference between bringing someone back to the living world and bringing life back into their dead body. Where the former is concerned, they are brought back via a sort of "heavenly second chance" by some angelic figure (or the gods, in the show's case.) In terms of the latter, that is where necromancy comes into play. This form of dark magic involves stripping the life force out of any living beings around you and using this energy to bring life back into the individual. This is considered a great sin in the fantasy genre...but the bad guys still practice it, regardless. 1. I do believe it's mentioned within the season that Hyperion Heights takes place outside of time (I do believe they call it a pocket dimension.) As such, it works a little differently than how things did in Storybrooke. As for the different versions of characters; as Henry pointed out, there are loads of alternative versions of these characters. Thus, the Cinderella Henry meets is someone whom I've dubbed "Earth 2 Cinderella." She may have the same name and a near similar backstory...but is from an entirely different world than the original. As for the answer to your question; yes, Henry STILL possesses his Author Powers...even the Wish Realm version

You wonder “ What are the rules of magic” ? Easy enough there’s only one rule: Wicked Alwasy wins!
@tahliaevans54444 жыл бұрын
10: Henry got older in Storybrooke because he was born outside, in Pheonix, and was not under the original curse and no one noticed because they were cursed to live out their own boring lives, just like Regina wanted them to. Also the writers made it very that age can be factored in lots of different ways throughout the series so the audience should have to question the characters ages. This is mostly seen here: The different realms make people age at different speeds when compared to the land without magic. This is mostly seen in season 7 when Henry goes off and grows up in a world where it only seems like a few years for the people in Storybrooke (7x02). This is also seen when Rumple and Belle go off and live the rest of their lives in that world where the sun doesn't go down and so Belle grows old while her son stays the same age (7x04). Also Neverland doesn't make people age at all. That's why Hook and Neal lived for such long periods of time (2x21-22) 9: Storybrooke is a hidden town because it resides on the coast and there is only one road going in and out. During the time when the town was in it's original curse it was an recognised town in Maine that nobody went to. This is seen when Regina adopts Henry (3x09) and says that she is the mayor of a town. Also the town was made invisable to outsiders after Owen/Kurt's Dad was killed and he was cast out, never to find to town again. But people who were related to people in the town were able to enter, like Emma and August. When the curse is broken and a magical barrier is put up around the town so no one could enter at all. 8: Yes, the ORIGINS of the storybook are unknown, but what we do know is that it's this magical source that chooses people to write down the events of a specific realm or group of realms. This is why in the Authors mansion there is thousands of blank storybooks, for the thousands of realms of stories that haven't been told yet. We know that in one of realms, the Sorceror's Apprentice was the one in charge of helping the pen find the author. Besides from that information that you did not mention, yes the origins of the storybook are unknown. BUT the book got to Mary-Margaret because it knew that she would give it Henry, enabling him to become the next author! The storybook is just a magical force that does whatever it can to find people to write down the history and stories of all the realms 7: The writers didn't think the 'superpower' was irrelevant anymore 6: Characters disappear, get over it... they explained it surely that's enough 5: How is this a plot hole? No character is all evil 4: The writers wanted another storyline in season 2 to mix things up. Not all things need an explanation when all the writers are doing are grasping at straws at story lines the audience may remember from season 1, which yes is stupid and should really be a last restort kind of storyline rather then an entire arc in only the SECOND season. 3: MsMojo bias, someone there really loves Mulan; get over it... some characters can't stay. This isn't a plot hole 2: Let's face, there are no REAL rules 1: Yeah, okay... I don't even like thinking about the abomination that was season 7.

What about all the Storybooks in the S5 finale labeled Volume II and so on. Who wrote those? Why were they in NYC? How did Neal find them. Those are actual plot wholes. Also Season 7 wasn’t that bad. I liked how they tried to make it darker than the seasons before.

The characters that remained in the enchanted Forest when the curse hit, did so, because Cora put a protective bubble of sorts around that part of the land, to protect herself and Hook from the curse. The people who were within Cora's bubbles vicinity were spared also. Granted, none of the characters actually explained this word for word to the audience, but it was pretty obvious what had happened at the begging of season 2 when the characters remaining in the enchanted Forest are in the same place as Cora. Plus, Cora explains to hook before she creates her bubble that they will be frozen the same as the rest of the characters who were taken to Storybook, until the curse is broken, but it will seem as though no time has passed and they will remain in the enchanted Forest with their memories intact. Mulan basically tells Aurora this same thing later, after the curse had been broken and she is trying to explain what happened she pretty much says word for word what Cora had previously explained to Hook. Once Upon a Time is my favorite show if you already couldn't tell. 😉

1- Ages differ from the cursed individuals to the uncursed. 2- It’s sustained on the money/magic that was brought by the curse. 3- The book came with the curse as a fail safe for the savior but only appeared when the time was right. 4- Her superpower was clouded by her emotions/Newfound powers and the turning up and down life. 5- the actress left the show to star in another as its lead actress. 6- no one is truly evil but the choices the make and other people choices affect this trait. 7- They were shielded by Cora’s protection. 8- I agree Mulan was underutilized but with so many characters and journeys she wasn’t relevant in all of them. 9- you can’t change the past/can’t make someone REALLY love you/can’t raise the dead , unless you were super powerful, like a god. 10- like the cw show , there are many lands like the enchanted forest with their own version of the regular stories with different timelines. Of course you have to be a really devoted fan to accept all these arguments I made 😁

The characters ages are easy. While the actors acted for six years (Cause S7 is too wack for us to go into), S1 thru S6 was only actually four years for Storybrooke residents. We know this because Henry is 10 in S1, and in S6, the Black Fairy mentions that he is 14. Emma is 28 in S1, and 32 by the time she marries Hook in S6. In S3, Emma mentions she and Snow are the same age, so we know Snow was 27 when she married Charming, 28 when she had Emma, 30 when she had Neal, and 32 by S6. Had there been no curse, and Emma and Neal were still 30 yrs apart, she would've had Neal at 58. We know Emma and Baby Neal are 30 yrs apart, or almost 30 yrs apart, because in S4, it mentions several times that it has been 30 yrs. David is 30 when he marries Snow, or almost is because we've heard it said that he lived with his mom till he was 30 or almost was. So he was probably 31 when when Emma was born, 33 when Neal was born, ( 61 without the curse), and was probably around 35 by S6. Neal is only about 1 by S6 (but should be more like 2). Regina is about 10 years older than Snow. Cora mentions that all the girls her age were married. Back then, girls married young. Which means she is roughly 20 when she marries Leopold. By the time Emma is born and the curse hits, she is almost in her 40s, (with out the curse, she would have been in her mid-60s by Emma's 28th b-day), she is 42 by S6. Hook is a over 200. It's mentioned several times. Rumple is more than 200, but less than 300, because it's mentioned he's been the Dark One for at least that long, but he met Hook before he became the DO. Belle is, my guess, late 20s or early 30s. Zelena is about 2-3 years older than Regina. Robin Hood's age is never even kind of mentioned. But we can probably guess he's around Regina's age. Roland is about 4 in S3, and about 5 when Robin dies in S5. Which means he would've been two when Marian dies, because Marian dies right around the time Snow meets Charming, and they are cursed about a year later (give or take a couple months). Plus, Roland was old enough to remember her. Red is Snow's age. Aurora and Phillip are roughly the same age as Snow and David. Ashlie is nineteen when the curse hits. She is 23 by S6. Thomas is a bit older than her. Alexandra should technically be about 4 by S6, but only looks about 2 . Ariel and Eric are close to Snow's and Charming's ages. Older Neal is about 200 years old. August is seven years older than Emma. Lily is a few months older than Emma.

#4 was explained. Cora shielded part of the enchanted forest before the curse took place. Though that does not really explain places like Camelot and Merida's kingdom. #6 was also explained. Ruby used a magic bean to get back to the enchanted forest. The real plot hole is where the hell these beans keep coming from. #1 I agree with. I liked season 7, but it was probably one of the most unnecessary things ever created.

Here's a long time OUAT fan's thoughts on that last one on the Laws of Magic: Rumple needed Regina to cast her curse so it's possible he just told her it wasn't possible to bring Daniel back to manipulate her towards his desired path. And Killian was brought back by a god which is ehhh but beyond the Laws of Magic, I suppose? The Once Upon a Time in Wonderland spinoff also punched a hole in the "Laws of Magic are unbreakable and the dead can't be resurrected" lore, which also makes me think Rumple was just straight up lying to Regina. Or, you know, the writers didn't feel like sticking to their own rules. Who knows.

#2 You can’t resurrect the dead unless you’re Zeus (he resurrected Killian) or the author alive in the underworld or you're trying to bring back a dark one then you have to trade your life for theirs
@laurieh9854 жыл бұрын
Most of these "plot holes" are not actually plot holes. For example, "magic can not raise the dead". The scene used as an example was showing Hook coming back from the underworld. But that wasn't magic... that was Zeus. Zeus was a god, not a wizard who used magic. Henry was the only child who aged because, unlike the other children in Storybrooke, he was born in the real world. We also see baby Neal age as well. Some people have asked why the characters of Mulan and Jefferson were not played out more. That's likely because they had no real story arc. Ruby/Red came and went because she had other contractual career obligations and again - no real story arc. Some things do bother me. For example... why did they never show Abigail/Kathrine reuniting with Frederick? They briefly bumped into each other (before the curse) in the school - he was the gym teacher - and when he found her car on the side of the road when she tried to leave. But there was not closure there. We never saw him again. We saw her briefly in a diner scene seasons later after the curse was broken, but not with him. Same with Aurora, who ended up in Storybrooke after the second curse and she was also shown in a diner scene, but without Philip. We never saw him again either. And whatever happened to Lily and Malificent? The last we saw of Lily, she was going to stay in Storybrooke to try to find her father... but then disappeared, as did Malificent. As to Season #7.... that was completely nonsensical and unnecessary.

Left out of the top 10 is a mistake in the show that occurred in S3 when Regina doesn't lose her memories from leaving Storybrooke. Regina leaves Storybrooke so she can adopt Henry (as a baby) from an adoption ward in Massachusetts. This was a problem for anyone leaving Storybrooke, who was born from the Enchanted Forest and transferred over as a result of the Curse. When Henry is either 10 or 11 years-old, Mr. Gold (aka Rumplestiltskin) finally has a breakthrough magical enchanted item enabling him to not lose his memories when leaving Storybrooke (so he can find his son, Neal). Mr. Gold must travel to Manhattan to find Neal. Mr. Gold initially tested his magical potion on one of Hook's pirates to see if he could crossover the town-line w/o losing his memories.

I love once upon a time! Started watching it and fell in love with the show. I agree that the laws of magic are a little confusing. And there are a number of potholes. My only arguments is number four; What happened to the characters who didn't make it to Storybrooke? How did they not travel to Storybrooke, and how did they escape the curse? It was explained in a flashback in season 2 episode 9, the queen of hearts, Cora cast a protective Dome over a wide 10 square mile area. It prevented anyone inside the Dome from going to Storybrooke but they were still frozen in time for 28 years. And then there's number 10. What are the characters ages. Who really knows how old Merlin is or Rumpelstiltskin is or Niel is, the question was how come no one in Storybrooke realized that only one kid was aging? I'm a fiction writer, and basically what I analyzed from the show is that during the curse, and before Emma showed up and started weakening the curse everyday in Storybrooke was essentially a Time Loop. The effects of the curse is that no one really thought about the future or the past. I don't think anyone realized that it had been 28 years until the curse was broken.

They were all frozen in time women. Snow White and charming are the same age as Emma since it gets mentioned. Regina is 18 years older because Snow White was 10 when Regina was 28 (mentioned in season 1) so at the beginning of the show she’s 46. Hook and Rumpelstiltskin are hundreds of years old. Around the same age since they crossed paths early in their life stream but rumple is probably 15-20 years older. Neil/ Baelfire is obviously in his hundreds by using the fact he met the darlings almost straight after being abandoned. You can assume he’s around 254 years old since he was 14 when he left the enchanted forest as that’s the whole reason rumple becomes the dark one. To protect his son from joining the army and it’s just after baelfires 14th birthday he gets abandoned. Henry’s age is constantly mentioned and ruby is around the same age as Emma, Snow, and Charming as they were all friends in the enchanted forest and out. Aurora and Cinderella are a little bit younger but only by 2-5 years as Snow and Emma act as friends and mentors to those two characters. They didn’t realise Henry was getting older because they were under a CURSE!!!

I mean, there will always be plot holes, there were so many storylines and characters that some got lost in the mix. But a lot of shows do that. What I get confused on is the whole Regina, Cora, Eva, Leopold thing. Because Regina got married to Leopold, but in one episode Cora was going to Mary Leopold but couldn’t because they found out she was pregnant with Zelena. So, did Cora basically marry off her daughter to her ex-fiancée? And how did Leopold not recognize Cora? Or was it a different Leopold? Ahhh. This is why you don’t look too much into it. As for season 7, I only tolerate its existence because we got to see Emma and Killian’s daughter, even if it was at the very, very, end.

The thing about the cursed characters making money and getting things from the outside is that they dont. we don't know exactly how it works but its magic, some way or somehow it replenishes itself - its like saying how do none of the characters question why they don't remeber their whole livesl, its the curse, the curse is storybrooke so therefore the curse sustains it
