For me I think Storm Chaser and Mako are both really good. Both are easily in my Top 20, with Mako in my Top 15. In some ways I feel Mako is underrated. Easily the best coaster in Florida prior to Iron Gwazi and Velcoicoaster. Outside of Lightning Rod, Storm Chaser might have the strongest air time of any non Raptor RMC and I've been on all of them in the US.

Thank you Parks Bros for a great video about overrated roller coasters. It was both informative and entertaining, and I learned a lot about roller coasters that I didn't know before. I'm sure many people will benefit from this video and appreciate your efforts. I especially liked how you pointed out the differences between hype and reality. It's easy to get excited over the idea of a roller coaster, but the reality can be quite different. It's important to keep in mind that a ride isn't always as good as it looks in the pictures. This is especially true for roller coasters, where the experience of riding can be quite different from what you were expecting. You also provided great insight into how designers and manufacturers can be influenced by hype. It's not just about the ride itself, but also about how it's marketed. I think Mario had high expectations for Iron Rattler lol. I also don't ride Iron Rattler for the "airtime" moments. I just love the way it glides along the terrain. It's still an underrated roller coaster among enthusiasts and general crowds.

Have to agree on Raptor. It seems like it should be good, but it's one of my least favorite B&M inverts. I've never had an issue with the B&M restraints, but I whacked my ear twice the last time I rode it. Also, I love Iron Rattler, but I did expect more out of that drop off the quarry wall.

My Top 10 0verrated coasters are as follows (440 credits) 1. Hagrid's - Barely in my Top 150. I don't understand how people put this in their Top 10-25 2. Beast- Same thing applies with the Beast as Hagrid's. Also, barely in my Top 150. 3. Steel Curtain- My #79. Copperhead Strike was robbed for best new coaster a few years ago. Maxx Force is also much better. 4. Banshee- My #100. Nowhere near being an elite B&M invert. Jack hammers in the back. It does have a good layout. 5. Hades 360- My #83. Just too rough despite having a great lay-out. Roughness kills this from being near a Top 50. 6. Boulder Dash - My #57. Great setting. a little rough. Should not be up with the elite wood coasters. 7. Millennium Force- My #33. Look it was awesome in 2002, But it is a bit outdated in some ways. 8. Superman the Ride (SFNE)- My #42- Restraints are not great and I think the layout is over hyped. 9. Mr Freeze Reverse Blast (#85 & 86)- Again poor restraints. I think they hinder the ride a bit 10. Wicked Cyclone (#27)- Not an elite small RMC that some people think. I greatly prefer Twisted Timbers, Storm Chaser, Twisted Colossus to it, and I even have Twisted Cyclone right in front of it.

Here’s the deal with Superman Krypton Koaster. If you ride the train with the blue seats, you’ll get a ride exactly like Mario described. If you ride the train with the black seats, you’ll have an awesome ride. I even let people cut in line in front of me so I get the right train. They think I’m being nice…/😈😈😈

Most overrated coaster for me is easily *Raven* at Holiday World. I kept hearing how this "award winning" woodie is the 2nd best coaster in the park. Almost as good as Voyage. But it is so mid compared to every other adult coaster in the park. It's basically a family woodie with 3-4 good moments of airtime or laterals. Everything before the lake turn is just a waste of track. The forest section is good, but only lasts like 15 sec before you hit the brakes. The fact anyone would say this is comparable to Legend, Voyage, or Thunderbird is baffling. Kentucky Flyer and Thunder Run seem more comparable. It's setting is nice though.

Raven was my least favorite of the woodies there but still have it over Thunderbird I think. It is a fun ride with the launch and near misses but doesn’t really stand out to me. Still a quality ride though

Still going off of 2019 when I last rode roller coasters, but I still think the most overrated is Lightning Rod. Was expecting insane air time and only got a couple of strong moments at the very end, with even the quad-down from the back row disappointing. Most of the ride was a snooze-fest with some roughness at the time and some laterals thrown in at a couple of moments. When the launch on a ride designed for airtime is the second best moment of the ride there's a problem. It's a good ride, just found it well short of elite and only marginally the best coaster in the park.

That's a really great list! I definitely agree with Iron Rattler and Diamondback, neither of those two do anything for me. Also wasn't impressed with Ice Breaker. Hate to say I disagree with the Cedar Point picks, but I really enjoyed both Raptor and TTD. In my opinion, I think Steel Vengeance and Magnum are more overrated than the two that were listed.

I rode Mako for the first time the first week of November and after my first ride (back row), I thought it was one of the most overrated coasters I’ve ridden. However, my opinion completely changed when I rode in the front row for next 3 rides that day. I have it in my Top 10 (I’ve only ridden 85)

Steel Vengeance. Its too long and suffers from 'small element syndrome' at the end. Its painful throughout the layout and even the big airtime moments are ruined by their transitions.

My top 5 most over rated in no particular order Pantheon (ppl comparing it to Velocicoaster and saying it could be better are out of their minds Mako (Goliath at SFOG is way better after the first hill) Ice Breaker and also any Skyrocket II clone (throw them in the trash) Skyrush (it was good/great but nowhere near as intense as people claim, I got back row wing seat both sides) Kumba (in a state with several elite B&Ms, this should barely be in the conversation)

I think Cannibal at Lagoon is overrated. The drop is amazing but it felt more floaty than I expected. The dive loop has a surprise pop of air and good positives. The highlight for sure is the Lagoon roll. That's awesome! But outside of those elements, the rest of the ride feels like a dud

The comments on Mako and Diamondback remind me of my thoughts on the two B&M Hypers I've ridden Apollo's Chariot and Goliath at SFOG. I think they are both good solid coasters but I find the repetitious hills and valleys with no loops or corkscrews to be a boring way to build a coaster. I much prefer a good looping coaster to a hyper.

Agree 100% with Raptor it’s a great ride but bottom of my list for inverts. The cobra roll is uncomfortable. Then you mentioned the best coaster at seaworld. Backseat of Dragster gets the airtime. Not a fan of positive g’s anymore

As a KI guy, I have at least some attachment to the Beast but I've considered it overrated for decades. I will defend it a little though: When it was built, parks weren't building coasters on that scale. It broke more than the length record and it would have been quite remarkable compared to rides of its time. It's also one of the most important rides ever built. After overseeing its construction, Charlie Dinn went on to start his company not too far from KI which directly lead to the creation of CCI which led to GCI and Gravity Group. Most wood coasters built in the past 30-40 years trace their lineage back to the Beast. And even a couple RMC creations, including SteVe, probably wouldn't exist without it.

Most overrated by far for me is X2 at Magic Mountain. It's just too damn shaky for its own good. Every time the seats turn you risk getting a bunch of calf-slapping and potentially getting your head whacked on the seat back if you don't keep your head back. Because of all that I can't really ever do more than 1 ride on it. Now, I will admit that a lot of this is because I just hate having to ride defensively, but in my rankings it doesn't even make the top 5 in its own park. It's still a good enough ride but I think it's carried into "elite" territory by its conceptual uniqueness.

Obviously these kinds of lists are controversial because essentially you're saying "coasters that most people are wrong for praising." I certainly disagree that Storm Chaser, Diamondback, Mako, Iron Rattler are overrated but it's a matter of opinion. And I don't personally hear a ton of people really overhype The Beast, Hagrid or Ice Breaker. I think most people seem to talk about them as being good for what they are and I think that's reasonable. But if we're getting ourselves into trouble, I'll give my most overrated coasters. 1) The Voyage. It's fine and it is long but I don't find the airtime to be very impressive. And I think is rougher than most people say. 2) Phoenix (Knoebels). It's really fun but I don't think it belongs in a discussion of greatest wooden coaster (though I think it has better airtime that The Voyage) 3) Millennium Force. The pendulum swings back and forth as the years go by in terms of how people talk about this coaster but I still hear a lot of people say it's the best or second best in the park and I would disagree. And I don't think it was ever the best coaster on earth. 4) Storm Runner. It's fun. But it's not very comfortable. It's definitely not one of the top two in the park 5) Goliath (Over Georgia). It's the only B&M hypercoaster that is somehow rough and it really ruins the airtime for me, though the helix is still cool. I'd take Twisted Cyclone and Mind Bender any day over Goliath. 6) Steel Eel. Yes it has good airtime but they really need to fix those seats. They kill the ride. 7) Kumba. It's the sitdown version of Riddler's Revenge only Riddler's Revenge is somehow more comfortable despite being a standup. 8) Magnum XL-200. I love Arrow so it pains me to criticize this coaster. But I really don't think the layout works very well. And I find the final hills (with the exception of the final tunnel dive) to feel more like speed bumps than airtime hills. 9) Lightning Run. I only include this because i keep hearing people say it is as good if not better than Storm Chaser and that's just nonsense. It's amazing but let's not get carried away here. 10) Space Mountain at Disneyland. This is similar to number nine in that I'm only including it because I think people make a bad comparison. That is that most people seem to say it's better than the Magic Kingdom version. While I like the Disneyland queue better and the onboard audio is cool, when it comes to the coaster itself I think the Magic Kingdom has a far better layout. I still love Space Mountain at Disneyland but I constantly hear people crap on the Magic Kingdom version and I think it's superior.

I don't understand the love for Hagrids either. Dont get me wrong, I love intamin, they are my favorite manufacturer. But the amount of straight track after straight track after straight track on Hagrids is insane to me. You go through like 2 or 3 turns then it's a straight track for breaking/launching then it just repeats this over & over again for the entire ride. There's literally 11 moments of just straight track if you include the beginning & the incredibly long backwards section 😂

I agree with a lot of your picks. I think GhostRider at Knott’s is the most overrated coaster I’ve been on. I like the coaster, but it’s nowhere near the best wooden coaster I’ve ridden. I also hated the Batman the Ride clones, since they’re uncomfortable rides for me. Also, Shivering Timbers was one of the roughest coasters I’ve ridden.

I dont have any over rated Coasters. Im the type of person to pretty much like every ride I have been on. however I have a raft ride I think is incredibly overrated and thats mystic river falls. its literally down more then its up, and the elevator lift while kinda cool, to me just feels gimmicky, and it causes all the rides breakdowns. from what I have heard it also takes away the charm of the raft ride it replaced, getting rid of a awesome cave section where a heart beat played and replacing it with the elevator life. and while I did not ride the original I know I would not like any of the rides near me with charm to have all that charm ripped out in favor of a gimmick that absolutely tanks the rides reliability.

The most underwhelmed I've ever felt on a coaster is on Space Mountain at WDW. Probably because everybody raved about it when I was a kid, but not being from the US I never got to ride it until I went there as an adult and the world of coasters had moved on a looong way since then. Sky Rush-it’s a diet I305. Yeah it’s got good airtime but the layout is just turn, hill, turn, hill and it’s over before you know it and the restraints…need I say more? I think it’s still solid, it’s still top 3 at Hershey park for me but it’s not an elite hyper or Intamin Valraven- somehow this is both overrated and overhated, the thoosies hate on this thing when it’s not really that bad. No it’s top 5 at the point and I rank it 3rd in terms of the B&M’s at that park. Now that being said, there is no reason for the queue line to extend out of the ride’s entrance and yet GP make it happen, I get it’s the only dive in that area that isn’t across the boarder but it’s not a THAT good

I find Silver Bullet to be pretty overrated, everyone I know says Silver Bullet is their favorite ride and say it’s super forceful, when I was on it, no forces except for the final helix, only 1 moment of airtime, very smooth ride though so I’ll give it some credit. But I don’t think it’s as great as some people say. (My opinion)

In my opinion (also note this is after a singular ride so this opinion can very well change) West Coast Racers at Magic Mountain was VERY overrated. When it came around getting ready for the next portion I was ready for it to be over. Those comfort collars are so unnecessary and it just wasn’t an enjoyable experience as a whole for me. I’m aware that’s a very unpopular opinion. Lol 😅

Lol Mako and Diamondback are my 2 favorite B&M Hypers. Krypton coaster isnt the greatest ride in the world or anything but worse than Rougarou? My knowledge? I just find doing the same thing over and over again a little lackluster. Before VelociCoaster opened, I’d have chosen 4 other coasters to ride before Mako in the state. My opinion doesn’t make me lesser. That’s just rude.
