I’m an American homeschooling mom to our 5 kids. My life is very simple, and not flashy or filled with vacations. I don’t see my husband and I traveling to France in our lifetime (even though we’d love it) but I watch your videos and pay attention as if I’m leaving for vacation next week. 😂 I LOVE your channel. My husband will sometimes join me on the couch and he enjoys your videos too. It’s like our little date night getaway after the kids go to bed. Haha thank you! 🥰

I'm sure you'll come to Paris one day! Also the longer you wait, the better it will be. Paris experiences a lot of construction work because of the Olympics and the Great Paris project. Many landmarks are being restored (Notre-Dame, Eiffel tower, Grand Palais...) and the transportation system is a bit congested because of modernization. Give it at least 1 to 3 years for everything to be in shape and we'll be more than happy to welcome you in a city better than ever.

We never really went anywhere when raising our kids. My husband won a trip through work one time, and we took the kids to Disney when they were 12 and 7 (they’re 42 and 36 now). That’s it. We’re retired now, have always helped with our grandkids and work about 15 hours per week, and have started traveling only 5 years ago!

Shopping at supermarkets is a top tip, often being able to purchase small gifts for the fraction of what you would pay at airport shops or city centre shops. Carrefour Market supermarkets have plenty of French biscuits and chocolates etc. It's the same elsewhere, Delhaize supermarkets in Belgium is another example, lots of Belgian produce, for instance. D

I recently found your channel and have been binge watching ever since. I lived and worked in Germany for over 30 years. Was a flight attendant for Lufthansa. Paris was my favorite city and I am enjoying watching you both share it with all of us. Paris is magical and there is a small, touristy, restaurant in back of Notre Dam on the Isle St. Louis. The exact name translated is 'As the old Galliers'. A basket of raw veggies on the table and delish ratatouille to your choice of protein. I visited there with my daughter just before we left Europe for Texas. Thank you for bringing back beautiful memories.

You could do a whole series based on a theme. 1. Haberdashers - Ultramod Mercerie Paris 2. Toy shops 3. Shoe Shops 4. Art shops 5. Stationers 6. Book shops 7. Second hand 8 Pâtisserie 9. Boulangerie 10. Homeware stuff - see Marin Montagut for an example 11. Kitchen shops - I'm thinking E. DEHILLERIN 12. Department stores 13. Perfume 14. Accessories - wallets, hats, 15. Cocolates 16. I'd like to add gardening. Surprisingly there is lots in Paris of obvious or oblique interest to people like me into gardening. I hadn't expected that! And not just the Jardins du Luxembourg + Jardin des Plantes + the plants market on Ile de la Cite.
@Nickle314 Жыл бұрын
@@janebaker966 That would make a very interesting video too. Other things that I've found stunning in Paris are around the Jardin de Plantes. Grande Galerie de l'evolution for example is visually stunning. Galerie de Paléontologie et d'Anatomie comparée is a feast of animal bones. Again you might think what the heck, but google it. Plus you have Marce Monge near by for lunch, take it away , sit in the park and eat.

We used Monoprix to stock up on wine, cheese and other snacks for the evenings, and ate out at Cafe du Commerce and a couple of other great local restaurants. My favorite market street is Rue Cler and its side streets. But that was before the pandemic. Haven't been back since then so I don't know if it still has its delights. My late wife and I rented an apartment around the corner for a week and got a coking class from a Parisian chef in our tiny apt kitchen. He took us shopping to the produce, seafood markets, deli, boulangerie and wine shop on Rue Cler, improvising a lunch menu based n what looked good in the markets that day. We also picked up some Berthillon ice cream as part of the dessert. Unforgettable. The view of the Tour Eiffel from the apt was a bonus.

Your information is so practical and helpful. I am going to have my children watch your video about ordering at a French restaurant. The concept that the French don't allow substitutions is very foreign to them. Have you ever thought about doing a video on French Brands that can only be found in France?
