@Jonu He must of been ambidextrous or someshit. Best stick handler ive ever seen play and by a good margin. He had a really good wristshot to, fast release and strong, yeah i was a fan of this dude when he was around, you are kinda right tho he did seem lesser known than he should of been.

If you ever have some time to kill, there are at least 30 more Datsyuk goals that the average NHL player can't do. This is the most underrated player of all time. His speed and puck handling abilities are not human. In his prime, if not surrounded by the most talented players ever assembled on to one team, he would have lead the NHL in goals and assists for several years. That's my opinion, and yes, I have always been a Red Wings fan, so it is a biased one. Cheers mates.

@F K Because he played on aging teams that were never able to hit the jackpot like the Pens did with the lottery getting to draft generational talent. Flower, Sid and Malkin...He was considered the best player in the world by his peers in the late 2000's early 2010's. (See Chara, Malkin, Ovi, Stamkos interviews)

@F K well after 07-08 the entire team, while very talented, was an aging team. They were good teams, but I'd say post 2010 is when the whole team started to decline, even though guys like zetterberg and datsyuk were still going god mode on teams

Pavel Datsyuk is so good that even with his trophy room filled with Cups, Selkes and Bings, you still can't help but feel he is the most underrated player of all time. He rarely makes the conversation of greatest player to ever play the sport, but I literally can't think of a purer talent for hockey than Pavel Datsyuk. #13 should be hanging in the rafters.

As someone who was born in ‘02 and got to watch the 5-10 years at the end of the Datsyuk era, it really shows nowadays how much influence he had on the people my age. The guys born around my time and who grew up watching the same hockey as me are now starting to filter into the league and you can just tell they were imitating Datsyuk in their driveway in the 2000’s, then they were really getting them down throughout high school and college/on a farm team in the 2010’s, and now they are filtering into the league and they are making what he used to do seem normal and I love it.

Goal number 9 - Datsyuk is a rookie, playing on the Brett Hull line and scoring. The look on Hull's face is priceless

Some pro hockey player on another NHL team said that he and several of his teammates the next morning tried the Datsyuk move on Turco, skating on one blade as he finished the goal. He said they all fell down and ended up in the corner every time they tried to do the same.

When I saw #10 I thought "Hey, that should be near the top". Then I did the same for #9 through #1 as well. I feel so fortunate for having followed the better part of his career. How can you win the Lady Byng for most gentlemanly conduct and still lead the league by far in takeaways - and win the Selke for best defensive forward?
