Here are 10 more must-see places in Austria: 1) Wachau: Rent a bike in Krems and cycle along the Danube to Weißenkirchen (or take a boat). It's a UNESCO world heritage site for a reason. 2) Visit Southern Styria's wine area: Drive by car along the so called "Weinstraße" (wine road) from Ehrenhausen to Leutschach 3) Visit the famous Green lake - a paradise for divers and hikers alike 4) Bad Aussee: An incredibly beautiful village with a gorgeous lake. 5) Go skiiing in Zürs/Lech. Some of the finest powder snow you'll ever see. And cheaper than Switzerland. 6) Cycle along the Danube from Passau (German border) to Vienna. There's a perfect cycle path along the entire route, with fantastic infrastructure incl. restaurants and hotels. 7) Innsbruck and Kitzbühel. Two stunning Tyrolean mountain towns. In winter they are a great base for skiing, in summer for hiking. 8) Castle Hohenwerfen. One of the prettiest European castle. You might instantly recognize it from movies. Another must-see castle is Burg Hochosterwitz. 9) Nuclear power plant Zwentendorf: The only fully functional nuclear power plant, that has NEVER been used, thus, it's the only place where you can actually visit the core. 10) Eisriesenwelt (in Salzburg): The largest ice cave in the World. Stunning!

Thank you man! I'm living in south Poland, I have 3.5 hours to Vienna so I'm searching for places near to explore. Wachau seems to be interesting to explore.
"Burguine Steinschloss". You misread the name. It's Burgruine Steinschloss Burg = Castle Ruine = Ruin Stein = Stone Schloss = Castle (not mainly for defense purposes)

I was at the Grossglocknerroad once. In my childhood in the 80's. Haven't seen the area since but I had some memories in my brain how it looked. Haven't seen it since, and your droneshots were quite shocking to me. The snow and ice I remember.... all gone. That glacier lake that you loved so much... wasn't there. The glacier was there were the lake is now.

*I was there in around 1962 and it's totally unrecognisable today, I remember in July 'tobogganing' down the ice sheets and snow on a plastic sheet with 2 pals. Also trying to be clever 'freewheeling' down to Heiligenblut am Großglockner, for an evening for a few beers, and boiling the brake fluid on my Citroen DS19 on the descent. Stayed at the Hotel near the summit and cost around £1 a night, can't remember the name. Remember had **_Vienna Schnitzel_** for the first time, and delicious but since finding out from baby cows would never do again. Yes Global Warming has altered these places enormously as in Switzerland with huge Glaciers retreating, however I ask "Is it Man Made" This I doubt very much. Once a Glacier starts melting it exposed bare 'dark' rock which at these latitudes absorb tremendous heat during the summer and have a very accelerated progression. Still a very beautiful area to experience the power of nature and our wonderful world we live in.*

Austria is amazingly beautiful, and you captured it so well! My heart breaks that I may never this beautiful country or its people again. My wife was Austrian, born in Villach, grew up around Millstätter See. She just unexpectedly passed away last month. We were planning on returning back to her homeland next May for her birthday. She wanted to show me more places like you have in the video. Sure Salzburg and Vienna were amazing when we visited, but I enjoyed the most when we visited small villages, hidden mountain lakes, places not always filled with tourists. There is something special about being with a native speaker, you get to enjoy the experience that much more. I will forever be touched by all the beautiful people I met in my visits to Austria. Thank you for sharing this video, it made me happy and sad all at once. Ich liebe Österreich!

Being from Austria I can only agree. One thing I notice though is that no one seems to do the tour through the ancient saline mines. I've done the tour many times myself and over the years they massively improved. With the newest renovation they even added a virtual reality movie. Definitely worth a visit! There's also one very interesting story about the stone lions of Hallstatt. They don't have a tongue (and the stone mason drowned himself because of that but that's a different story 😂).

Yes, I'm surprised you left out Hallstatt given its proximity to Salzburg. Protip: the tour guides are pretty "salty" (pun intended) and don't really like doing the tour in English. So, I translated for my family while he gave the same spiel in German and Italian. I've been to Hallstatt every time I go to Austria, because it's pretty unique and a reasonable fee.

I like to follow your blog and your selection of Dolomites was right on top. For Austria, you picked out great spots - no doubt, but it's evident that you haven't spend enough time to see the whole country. So I wouldn't call them 'Top 10 Places To Visit In Austria'. Austria is a different animal than Switzerland or the Dolomites as the variance is so much bigger from cultural heritages to salt mines (good comment by Jana!) to totally flat lakes (+ it's double the size as Switzerland). To make a long story short: besides the wonderful towns of Vienna, Salzburg and Innsbruck, I would not want to miss: - Lake Salfeins, Tirol - Karwendel, Tirol - Burg Dürnstein, Niederösterreich - Neusiedlersee - Sölkpass, Styria + one ore the other monastery like Melk or Göttweig

I think that requires a lot of traveling, I usually see the very big travel video makers publish top 10 videos after having spent about 3 months of traveling in one country. Nevertheless, Austria is super beautiful! Greetings from your Swiss neighbor.

The east part of the country is not so exciting anyway. Its mostly smaller hils and wide open fields of agriculture. Only places worth visiting are of course Vienna and probably the Schneeberg which is a 2000m mountain. There is a railway which takes you almost to the top of the mountain. The southern part however is very nice with Carinthia!

I think there are two Austrias. The 90% which are smaller towns and mountainous areas, and the Vienna area. Vienna is worth an entire video in itself, it's an amazing city, I spent a couple years there. It's a pretty massive capital city and one can feel it was the capital of an Empire not long ago.

@@RyanShirley personally my favorite place on earth is glacier national park - the place changed my life and created my love for mountains in the first place. absolutely a crazy place, i’ve seen some coverage on it in your PNW video and it captured it perfectly. another place is banff in alberta canada, i haven’t been there but from what i’ve seen it’s better than glacier, and somewhere i would love to see your perspective on
