Mylari Dosa
On my recent trip to Mysuru, I set out to look for the ‘original’ Mylari dosa. Mysuru is the birth place of the Mylari dosa, after all. My search brought me to a super crowded eatery - the Original Vinayaka Mylari Hotel.
The Mylari Dosa in Mysuru is the softest dosa one can have. They are the softest dosas with a huge dollop of white butter on top.
The most popular dishes at the Original Vinayaka Mylari are the Mylari Dosa, Masala Dosa, and Idli, and of course, the filter coffee. They’re usually served with coconut chutney. On a normal day, the Vinayaka Mylari sells about 200 idlis. If it is a weekend, this would go up to 300. From my experience, I discovered that dosas and idlis in Mysuru are served only with the creamy coconut chutney, there’s usually no sambar.

The restaurant opens at 6:30 AM, is closed from 1:30 PM to 3 PM, then is open again till 9 PM
Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, popularly known as ‘Mysuru Zoo’, is one of the oldest zoos of the country established in 1892, by His Highness, the erstwhile Ruler of Mysuru Sri Chamarajendra Wadiyar Bahadur. Mysuru Zoo holds an important place in Karnataka. In 1909 the Palace Zoo was named as Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens to commemorate the illustrious founder and since then it bears the nomenclature. Mysuru Zoo has gradually grown into a tourist centre, imparting wildlife values. It has 123 years of history exhibiting wild animals in the near natural enclosures. Although the majority of the zoos have been shifted from the original place to the new places, Mysuru Zoo could modernize the zoo, without shifting the zoo. The zoo is a well compacted unit, with modern animal enclosures including heritage buildings attracting tourists all over the world.

Brindavan Gardens of Mysore is undeniably one of the best terrace gardens in the world. A must sightseeing place of a Mysore tour, Brindavan Garden mesmerizes everyone. It is located about 12 km towards the north west of Mysore city. Brindavan gardens with its illuminated fountains, botanical park, extensive varieties of plants and fulfilled boating, is a place for everyone.
Especially famous for its symmetric design and illuminate terrace gardens, Brindavan Gardens was built by Sir Mirza Ismail, the then diwan of Mysore state. He was the brain behind its modelling and conceptualization. Spread across an area of more than 60 acres, this garden is laid out in three terraces, and ends in a horseshoe shape.
