Serious suggestion from a nyc lifer: Just walk Broadway from Harlem to the southern tip of Manhattan. If it’s too much walking for you, do it over two days. Just walking around NYC is the best way to experience the city.

Lived in the NYC area for about 10 yrs. and one of my favorite spots off the beaten path is the Tenement Museum in Lower Manhattan. Amazing stories of recent immigrants living in such conditions relating to the different waves of immigration from different countries going back to Dutch immigration in the late 1600's, Irish & Chinese waves in the mid and late 1800's and on, etc. Fascinating stuff! Along the same lines, the Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration is excellent, as well. Recommend it for your trip, Mike

I'm from NYC....you DO want to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, take the Staten Island Ferry, go on the Subway and visit Central Park....the other things are a bit dull- taking a photo of the Flatiron building (for example) is a bit of a time waster just to take a photo and have nothing to do next. Chinatown is great for the authentic VERY spicy food....In terms of Central Park it stretches from 59th street on the south end to 110th street on the North- about 3 miles, and between 5th ave on the East and Central Park West on the west about a mile or so. The area in the south end of the park from 59th street all the way up to about 96th street has street performers, musicians, sketch artists, food vendors, and scenic views. Above 96th street is a not so nice area and you don't want to be anywhere in the park at night. (In the 1970s you would be mugged or attacked by criminals or homeless if you went in at night or during the day...nowadays it is basically very empty and not safe after dark. The boat rental area is nice...you can also rent a bicycle from one of the CitIBike stands (there are hundreds scattered around Manhattan and the other bores) and return at any of the other stations) su could rent a bicycle a few blocks away and pedal about on the many paths and walkways that meander through the park

As someone who lived there before, don't plan on spending much time at all in Times Square. There's a reason locals avoid it. Also, the view from the top of Rockefeller Center is better than the view from the Empire State Building.

Agreed- fellow NYer here- In Times Square you will just be accosted by people in Elmo suits try to scam a selfie with them...best views ARE from Rockefeller Center or the Staten Island Ferry and Brooklyn Bridge.

I read about The Vessel sometime last year and it looks stunning. But I had never even heard of The Oculis. I can attest to the magic of Central Park in Spring. It is mindboggling how you can step off some of the busiest streets in the world just brimming with energy, and within minutes feel like the entire city has evaporated and you are just comfortably in the countryside. Anyway, this was one of the best such "list" videos I've seen, simply because the guy wasn't just pulling the same stock video used by every other channel and incorporated his own footage and perspectives. It felt more organic and less like it was created by the tourist board.

Mike-has to try iconic NYC pizza, and a pastrami sandwich at Katz’s Deli. The Metropolitan Museum of Art on Central Park is worth a visit-as well as many other museums (the Natural History Museum is amazing). Just walking from midtown down to where the Staten Island Ferry has a wealth of places to see. The NYC Library, Washington Square Park, Rockefeller Center, etc. And definitely walking across the Brooklyn Bridge, top of the Empire State Building, seeing the 911 Memorial and Museum, and taking in a Broadway show. I think this video is really made for a younger crowd who want to take a lot of Instagram photos as opposed to really seeing and feeling NYC. And go to Times Square, even though it’s packed with tourists. You’ll want to experience on your first visit and then ignore it on the next visit.

I visited the Vessel last September and it was probably the thing I was most looking forward to visiting as I had seen the photo ops from the Vessel and I had wanted to get some shots. Unfortunately, about two or three months prior to my visit, there was another suicide, the 4th one since the Vessel opened and it forced the closure of the Vessel. As far as I know, it hasn't been re-opened and might not be again unless they find a way to prevent people from jumping and at the same time still keeping the aesthetics of the original design.

Dave - Take your kids to New York! Since I’m from Connecticut, it was just a couple hours away from our house and my mother would take us frequently. I was probably 3 or 4 years old my first trip and I’ve gone countless times since. If you want an amazing experience for your kids, get tickets in one of the restaurants during the Macy’s thanksgiving day parade.

The Manhattan Bridge photo location even has its own nickname: DUMBO = down under Manhattan Bridge overpass. For another great photo location, the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn has a lot of fantastic street art/spray art/graffiti that is always changing.

Having visited NYC myself back in 2017 there is tons of places to go my top ones would be Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, The 911 Memorial and Museum, Central Park Zoo, go on the New York Tour, Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, Macy’s aka The Worlds Largest Department Store, Little Italy and some others

Central Park does have a dark history most people don't know about. There was a fully functioning sizeable village (Seneca Village) with a ton of very successful free black people in a part of the planned park footprint, who's properties all got stolen and raized.

Go to the MOMA - so many famous paintings it always amazes me - like your college art book come to life. I’ve lived here 20 years and the city is a little rough around the edges right now. Lots of people having mental health and drug issues since the pandemic but it’s still safe just keep your eyes open. Happy to see tourism picking back up!

I went for my first time in December and loved it. We stayed in Midtown which was a great area to start our days from. Day 1 we walked all the way to the south tip, hit China Town, Little Italy and the 911 site then rode the subway back to midtown. Day two we took the subway to the north side of Central Park and walked it all the way south. Then went west through Times Square. Best Advice: do some long walks before you go and wear good shoes.

On central park west(72nd st)there is a place to visit called Strawberry Fields, which is a loving memoriam to John Lennon who lived in a building across the street called The Dakota, a picture 📸 opportunity is to stand on this design named Imagine-named for John's big solo hit song

The Occulus is where the Towers used to stand. It is beautiful but expensive and always crowded with people; however, it leads to the 911 monument, and if it is Spring, there might be an event happening nearby. The Vessel is new and also expensive, but has excellent views of New York.. If you are in the Flatiron area try Eatly also Sony is located three blocks from the Flatiron Building. Wear sneakers

Don't even be slightly afraid of the NYC subway. I've lived in NYC for about a year now and use the subway almost every day; I've never been in danger and 99.9% of the time it's uneventful. The people you see in comps aren't actually common and the vast majority of the time it's uneventful. And even when they're there, they're harmless.

You better wear the best comfort shoes you can buy. Exploring NYC will feel like running a marathon everyday (track your steps with phone or watch….you will be shocked)

On your first full day I would really recommend taking a city tour bus. I do it in every new city I visit. It gives you a sense of the layout and places you want to actually visit. Definitely walk across the Brooklyn Bridge at dusk, and sit in the park on the Brooklyn side, take the Staten Island Ferry, go to Central Park, although not at night and stick to the east side from 59th up to about 79th, making sure to take in the Zoo and the lake. I would also recommend going up to the top of the Empire State Building, and going to the 9/11 Memorial, including the Oculus. Times Square is a given, but go late at night, like 11 PM or something, because it gets so crowded. You absolutely shouldn't miss Rockefeller Center either. An easy plan is to take a cab or bus to 59th and 5th, walk around the Plaza Hotel, which is very luxurious, head south on Fifth Avenue to Rockefeller Center, stop across the street in St. Patrick's Cathedral for a few minutes, and maybe the ladies would like to spend a few minutes walking around Saks Fifth Avenue. Then you could head back north on Lexington Avenue to Bloomindale's another very high end Department Store, go across on 59th and go into Central Park. The Zoo is right there. If it were me I'd then take a taxi back to the Hotel. :) A word to the wise: the Hotels and Department Stores are also great for bathroom breaks. For food, Trip Advisor is almost always reliable. I would recommend not winging it, not even for pizza. Don't do what so many Brits seem to do, which is to eat fast food. NYC is one of the great food cities of the world; take advantage of it. I always tell people that once they have their day planned they should look for restaurants in the guide for where they'll be. You really should go to the more "hipster" parts of the city in Brooklyn or downtown Manhattan. Any good guide will tell you where to go. Also, go eat in Greenwich Village. Great scene and great food. As for museums, if you're up for only one or two, go to the Metropolitan; everyone always loves the Egyptian Exhibit, complete with a pyramid. The Natural History Museum is also fabulous.

This video is like the influencer’s guide to New York goddamn. If you wanna see some cool nyc shit don’t look at the flatiron building or take pictures of a bridge. Visit museums like MoMA or the MET. Go to Mexican, Chinese and Italian restaurants. Get a dollar slice. If you’re interested in history of nyc go visit Ellis island or the tenement museum. Venture out, go to Brooklyn and queens. If your budgets high enough go see a broadway show then get shake shack or something. Go to Coney Island if you’ve got time. Nyc is full of fun and exciting things to do so don’t just time lapse the whole thing. Enjoy it 😊

Some of these are pretty odd suggestions. I would say go to the High Line. You can walk many blocks from mid Manhattan down to the Meat Packing District without even feeling it. By the way, at the Meat Packing District, you can get a bite to eat at Chelsea Market and visit the Whitney Museum. Other museums to visit are the Met -- of course. You should also go to The Cloisters, which is way at the other end of Manhattan and is part of the Met. It's a collection of four cloisters that were moved from France to New York and features medieval art. Speaking of museums, you should hit the MoMA and the Guggenheim. The video suggested going on the Staten Island Ferry, but I would suggest taking a Circle Line Tour which is a ferry that will take you around the entire island of Manhattan. It takes about three hours. It's a lovely break and you get a tour guide who points out all the sites. I would also take in Rockefeller Center and go up to the Top of Rock. Most people go up to the top of the Empire State Building, but I like the Rock better. You should also take in Chinatown. In fact, you might want to take a New York Food Tour. Each tour features a food from a different part of the city/ethnicity. The Chinatown one was good. We had Peking Duck at one of the stops. You might also want to take in the United Nations. Nice Tour. Of course, you should also see some shows. Don't limit yourself to Broadway. Off Broadway can be the place to find the next hit. And, of course, you should visit the 9-11 Memorial and Museum.

Whenever anyone comes to visit we walk the Brooklyn Bridge and go to Grimaldi's on the Brooklyn side. Besides the statue of Liberty there is also Governor's Island - you can go for the sunset and cocktails (if it is open). I also always recommend the hop on - hop off bus - as you get to see so much of the city. Enjoy NYC, Mike!

New York is a surreal place to visit, because so much of it has been featured in films, tv shows, & comic books. Everywhere you turn you'll see something that you've seen somewhere before. I can't think of any other city that's been so well exposed on film. Travelling by subway is much cheaper than by taxi. I'd suggest subway over the bus. Mike should watch some more videos on where to stay & visit in NYC.

I love visiting NYC. Luckily my agent lives on Long Island so when I visit he takes me to all the cool places in the city. I made him take me to Time Square the last time I was there. This guy was not kidding there are a ton of people there. Did the subway for the first time last visit. It's not bad. Can get kind of hot underground.

We have a flat iron building g in Toronto but ita only 5 floors I think and it's was built way later. Alot of new york and Toronto buildings have the same designs weather it was Canadian based companys or American. Were only separated by a lake. Lake Ontario. In the late 1800's to early 1900's my family used to canoe between New York and Toronto to see family and friends. That's before the boarders and security we have now.

Mike is thinking of the High Line, not Sky Line. The north entrance to that is near the Vessel at Hudson Yards (take a picture at the Edge there). And when you reach the end of the High Line, visit Little Island.

close to times square, you can take the PATH to world trade center which is the white mall structure in this, and then you can see the memorial there and go up to top on WTC one. and the Vessel is a walking art work, I think it is 20 stories high, its located in a new development that opened just before the pandemic started. Its called Hudson yards, and was built over a train parking area. they have one high rise that has a wonderful outside ledge to go out on. but aso the Vessel has been known to have some people commit suicide by jumping off the top.

Mike! When you go to New York and are in Midtown, make some time to have lunch or dinner at Lazzara's Pizza. Fantastic pizza. Great calamari. It's between Times Square and The Empire State Building. All within walking distance. Not too far from the Flat Iron building either. Have fun on your trip!

Subways are great. And will save you tons of money. They are super easy to navigate with maps on your phone. I always use the subway to zip around to different areas. Then will Uber/walk around some shorter distances within the area.

1.Central Park - the boat house, eat, have a drink or ride a row boat 🚣‍♀️ & Bethesda Fountain near the boat house . 2. St. Patricks Cathedral 3.Little Italy and China town 4. Walk the High Line 5. Rockefeller Central - roof top viewing platform. its cheaper, faster and just as good views as Empire State or Trade Center . Best time is right before sun set !!! 6. Grand Central Station 7. Fraunces Tavern - est. In 1832 its where George Washington met with his Officers after the British finally left Manhattan/America. 8. The Met or Museum of Natural History .

There are a few statues of famous characters in Central Park, you could get a map of them and seek them out, or maybe Central Park Zoo. Really should take a day and come up to the Catskill Mountains or at least to Bear Mountain State Park or something like that.

The 9/11 Memorial is way more impact ful than the Oculus, which is right next to it. You can also scratch the Manhattan Bridge off your list. Tip: take the subway to Brooklyn and walk across the Brooklyn Bridge TOWARD Manhattan (preferably at sunset) 😉

Check out coney island/ sheepshead bay area, prospect park, and Williamsburg in brooklyn and flushing in queens is cool as well... in lower manhattan check out alphabet city and chinatown area amazing food and history I could go on mike have fun I hope you do it right forgot yeah stadium area and arthur avenue in the bronx is worth it

The Vessel is cool but may be closed to the public due to the trend of suicides there although this may have changed in recent times. Hudson Yards in general is really cool for food and shopping. Instead of going on the ferry, it's a much better experience to buy tickets to the statue of liberty (and the museum access too). The real gems I think are the food spots you won't find anywhere else. If you're coming to the Flatiron (I work there), let me know and we'll grab a beer or lunch!

Times Square is completely avoided by everyone who's from here. Ive been there twice and i've lived in nyc my whole life. Its literally a nightmare. Also this is probably the worst time to be a tourist in nyc in like 35 years. The city is a different place now than it was 3 years ago. It used to be pretty safe and now its got this edgy vibe that it hasn't had since the 80s. Its not THAT bad but like its wild as a 23 year old to witness cuz i've never seen it like this before. I feel like Travis Bickle walking around at night.

For great Italian food cross the Brooklyn Bridge and go near the Court Houses. to Queen Restauarant. Its where all the lawyers and judges eat and has the best Italian food in NYC other than Arthur Avenue in the Bronx. For Chinese Food go to China Town In lower Manhattan. Second Avenue on the East Side from the streets numbered 50-90 or so has 100s of restaurants since this is the residential area where all the large apartment complexes are. Houston Street (pronounced HOWSTON) is essentially zero street, the numbered streets are north and the named streets from when the Dutch and British ruled the area are south- SOHO means South of Houston- and that area has many art galleries and trendy restaurants since that is one of the wealthiest areas where many celebrities live. The Upper West Side in the 60s-90s has many restaurants as well since that is the other major residential area in Manhattan proper. There are MANY museums on 5th Avenue between the 70s and about 104th street- The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim Museum (modern art), The Museum of the City of NY, The Frick Collection...so you could start by bicycling or walking through Central Park entering at the South end at 59th street and exiting around 72nd street on the East side and then going to the various museums traveling North up 5th avenue...

Skyline is awesome. It took me a whole day to get through HALF of Central Park. I believe 54th street is where I went in…where the bill is close to Trump Tower prob got the street wrong. The subway you can avoid unless you have to. I rode it just fine but walking is better especially as most touristy things are within distance unless you’re going to the Statue of Liberty and AVOID those yours just stick with the Ferry cause the lines are ridiculous

People from all over the world come to NYC no one ever goes to Coney Island. Go to trinity church go thru to the cemetery there you will sit with Alexander Hamilton, ps he’s the least famous person buried there.
