I enjoyed this film. Stevenage holds many architectural gems . Several tremendous brutalist sculptures are scattered around the town. The sixties film HERE WE GO ROUND THE MULBERRY BUSH .was filmed there and shows the town in its 1960s splendour

Stevenage is nice enough...didn't think much of the people...but.. it was only a 20 min train ride to Kings X. NHS there was pretty grim. Could be a lovely place if it wasn't full of unemployed common chavs.

The town center toilet blocks should be relocated and turned into a large european style cafe with the platform above the current toilet blocks used for cafe tables with canopies, live music, ice cream stall etc all overlooking the fountain. Its a cheap obvious design solution to make the town center look fabulous. I hope this idea happens one day.

I can confirm that the filming was done in Stevenage and not some anonymous suburb of London. Unlike your introduction above, Hertfordshire should have a 't' in it. As a jokey video, it was fine but I have come across so many people who slag Stevenage off - particularly people who live in Hitchin or Letchworth who are too posh to live in Stevenage but are prepared to work in Stevenage. The architecture is generally not particularly attractive but that in many ways because it was mostly designed within a short time period and therefore lacks diversity.

Leisure park, Fairlands Valley and the Old Town are great. There's plenty of green space and park land with sports facilities and a cracking football stadium. The New Town is a dump but hopefully the re-gen project will give it a new lease of life. Check out Hatfield if you'd like to see a real, lifeless cesspit of a town.

Town of my birth I lived there when they were STILL building the roads and stuff. My family moved away in 1968 and I didnt go back until 2015 to see the old place .....AAAARGH LEFT QUICKLY! The place now makes Beirut look POSH and I dont believe i heard more than 1 or 2 people speaking English :( Such a shame I can understand why the original residents have mostly GONE. From 'new town' to 'dirty old town' . Whe it was first new and just beig built there were hopes and aspirations of a new Utopia..........what happened?
