Especially for a guy who if you plopped his career in today's NFL he would be leagues above everyone else. Fran was doing stuff in the 60s and 70s that QBs still struggle to do. Add in improved offense schemes, better quality of weapons, and rule changes that suit his style of play and you have a QB that could've probably carried the 2022 Bears to the Super Bowl by himself (assuming Chicago didn't trade him for a massive haul of picks).

Was glad to see Adrian Peterson in as an honorable mention as I was surprised that I hadn't seen him yet. I think some forget just how exhausting he was for defenses to play against. He could go all day long and it only got easier as the game went on for him to run you over or just beat you in a race down the sideline.

Fans were curious as which league champion was the better team so both leagues agreed to an exhibition game to see if the upstart AFL was on par with the NFL. These exhibition games were coined the "Super Bowl" by some press writer I believe and the grandiose name stuck after the merger, therefore, the new expanded NFL retconned those four AFL-NFL championship games into Super Bowl canon. You don't simply dismiss every NFL champion from 1920-1966 because they either didn't have a competing league to play against or didn't play their champion when such leagues did exist. The NFL champion never played the champion of the AAFL in the 40s...but everyone knew that Cleveland was easily the best pro team in America back then and would mop the field with any NFL team and when that league collapsed, the NFL offered that prized team a spot in their league. They were proven right as Cleveland went on to win several NFL championships.

What differentiates Alan Page from the other guys on this list is that he actually won an NFL championship in '69 ... Vikes just lost the AFL-NFL championship game in an upset to the AFL Champion Chiefs. Every other player either never played in an NFL title game or started their career after 1970 when the Super Bowl WAS the NFL championship game.

That would be 1600 per season for a career, though few have even done that in a season! Have you heard of that guy? Not knocking Barry but pointing out a couple of other all time scary monsters :) Barry BTW has the all time record for most 150 yard games. And Barry had 2000 in a 14 game stretch, 1997, wuh-wuh-wow.

JB and OJ are in my book #1 and 2, but I have a less popular 3rd place, even above Emmitt on my favorite team, even above Barry who was better than Emmitt, which is Herschel. I would call him the hardest player to tackle in history, yet literally had Olympic speed. I think he would have doubled every record in the book if defenses were not completely amassed on him. But of course that might be also said for Barry, talk about maybe the most game-planned-against player ever, considering his team. Like Herschel's freak combo of strength plus speed, I read that JB ran a 4.5 at 230 pounds, and now I'm going to laugh at how audacious that was, because it was in full pads and from a 3 point stance, if the claim is correct!!

Love the Barry love! Thank you from a lifelong Michigan native since 2000. Barry’s before my time but I experienced the heartbreak with Megatron. Two of the greatest examples of some dudes who gave everything they had to put their whole city on their backs, unconditionally. Every Sunday I knew Calvin was gonna do something special, and if he didn’t I watched him give his all trying to do so. Barry was no different. Detroit is no different. We try hard every day despite all the trauma, ain’t worried about if the world is watching, we’re just grinding, racking the accolades and helping the rest of our family eat.

Sanders class act.. hands down.greatest running back ever and never went to a super bowl. True story, I was 12 years old my dad told me the best running back ever was Barry Sanders. It's was the 94 season playoff game GB vs lions. I was hyped, first time ever to see the great Barry Sanders. Me living in Texas all they showed was cowboys and 49ers on local channels. (No NFL Sunday ticket yet)my first game was the 13 carries 0 yards longest 7 yards stat. After he retired I could agree he was and still is the best running back ever. If there were no blockers and you had 11 football players to tackle him, he would be the hardest to catch. Not tackle...catch.

1992 was another painful year for Dan Marino. Miami won their division, beat their rival bills 37-10 in Buffalo that year, flattened the Chargers 31-0 in the Division game, but when it came time to host Buffalo in the AFC Championship, Mairno played okay, but the Dolphins turned the ball over 5 times, and couldn't stop Thurman Thomas, losing 29-10 in a bit of a shocker.

As a New England fan, it was such a shame that Randy Moss didn’t get his Super Bowl with the team. I was also cheering for him in 2012 with the 49ers to win it against the Ravens, they almost pulled off that comeback. I do remember Tony Gonzales at the tail end of his career and remember TO from 2004 onwards. I wasn’t alive for certain players like Steve Largent but my dad has been a Seahawks fan since the 80s and Largent was a huge reason why he became a Seahawks fan outside of the fact that he (my dad) was born in Oregon.
