Warner's last season with the Giants (2004) started out with Kurt on fire with a surprising 4-1, 5-2 start. But after two more loses making them 5-4, Caughlin put in Manning who went 0-6 until the last game of the season. The turn-overs were systemic even with Eli at the helm, so it's a little much to say Kurt did NOTHING in New York. They did go from last in the NFC East to 2nd behind the SB-bound Eagles.

Kurt broke the base of his throwing hand during the Superbowl with the cheap-shot unethical Patriots. It took him a long time to get the hand strength back. They tend to oversimplify things on these for the sake of TV. Their "QB Teases" video, they boil down Vince Ferragamo's return to the Rams from the CFL as "he fizzled", when 1982 and 1983, he actually did pretty decently, on par with his personal play stats, and did basically the same save the wins column, but he broke a finger on his throwing hand in 1984, traded to the Rams given Dickerson was THE point on that team, so they couldn't afford to keep a traditional high end QB and RB, and then Jim Kelly finally signed after Ferragamo got hurt again in 1985.

@imfcrisis6 жыл бұрын
Not really. He is overrated. People credit him with clutch SB wins, but in the SB against the Panthers, he only made 1 out of 3 attempts. And both of the ones he missed were under 40 yards. But people remember he made the last one (41 yards, not too tough) in that game. He really only had one super clutch kick - and that was the one he made in the Tuck Rule Game to tie it and send it to OT.
@imfcrisis6 жыл бұрын
CLutch, but not super clutch. In 2002, NFL FG kickers as a whole kicked 40-49 yard field goals at a 63 percent success rate. That's the entire NFL in all sorts of weather/stadiums. Adam was kicking in good conditions and the game was tied, so a miss does not necessarily mean a loss. It was still clutch, but that one in the Tuck game was way tougher - weather was worse and they were down 3 and needed it to avoid defeat.

Glad to see The Night Train at #2. Reminds me of Jim Brown. Amazing person, big brain, blessed with talent- and just decided that football would be more fun than a straight job. Showed up, and became the best through sheer force of will. Lane's interception totals are bonkers. In an era of 14 passes in an entire game.

Donnie Shell of the Pittsburgh Steelers (1974-1987) was a 5 time All-Pro safety and a 4 time Super Bowl champion. He has 19 more interceptions than the more ballyhooed Troy Polamalu (not saying Troy wasn't great, but I can easily make a case that Shell was better). When he retired, he was the all time leader in interceptions for a Strong Safety with 51(more than Kenny Easley, Brian Dawkins, and Steve Atwater) but he's not on this list or in the Hall of Fame? His career was infinitely better than both Crebet and Romo. Great job NFL! SMFH!

He played as a safety with the Green Bay Packers in the National Football League (NFL). Wood was an eight-time Pro Bowler and a nine-time All-Pro. In 1989, Wood was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.[1][2] Wood played college football for the USC Trojans, becoming the first African-American quarterback to play in what is now the Pac-12 Conference. Undrafted out of USC, he was granted a try-out with Green Bay. Wood changed his position to safety in his rookie year, and played for the Packers from 1960 to 1971, winning five NFL championships.

Sorry dude, I love Warren Moon to death. Especially being Black and appreciating what he did for the game, and opening the doors for people like me. But having said that, at least when Moon came out of college there were people who said: "yeah he's good enough to play, but he can't play at quarterback because he's black." But when Kurt Warner came out of college after only having played one year at Division I-AA, there was NO ONE who thought he could play, AT ALL. He was in Packers Camp for about a week, and then he was cut. Then after working in a grocery store, he had to go to the Arena League just to get a chance to play. Then when the coach of the Amsterdam Admirals (NFL's Developmental League at the time) called him after having seen him play, he tried to see if he could get him signed to an NFL Team, and the Rams were the ONLY team that would bring him in for a workout. Do you see the point I'm making here? People never doubted that Moon could play, they just didn't want him to play quarterback because of the color of his skin. On the other hand, Absolutely NO ONE believed in Warner, he had to prove to everyone that he could play!!!!

personally i would’ve ranked it- #1 Night Train Lane #2 Warren Moon #3 John Randle #4 Kurt Warner #5 Antonio Gates #6 Marion Motley #7 Adam Vinatieri #8 James Harrison #9 Chris Harris #10 Jason Peters Honorable Mention: Rod Smith Wes Welker Emlen Tunnell Larry Little Willie Brown Priest Holmes all of these guys, plus many more i hadn’t mentioned deserve a spot in that top 10, it’s only a problem when you have way more than 10 guys deserving a spot on that list

A fantastic list, though you left off Donnie Shell of the Steelers - a terrific safety, part of the Steel Curtain, a four-time Super Bowl champion, and a Hall of Famer. On my extended list of 16, Night Train Lane, Warren Moon and Kurt Warner are top three, with Randle, Motley and Gates being fourth to sixth.

Opening line of film: "Wayne Chrebet has to be the definitive undrafted success story in the NFL." So... why is he no.10 and not no.1?

Romo way to low and we all know Dez Bryant Caught it at Green Bay so he should have at least went to the Super Bowl that year and we would have won!!! Cowboys 😎 forever!!! Romo #3 to me on the list!?!?!
@JasnoGT5 жыл бұрын
Agreed 100%. Dez caught that ball! Romo should be higher on this list.

Ahh yes. The old "we definitely won the game we didn't play" argument. You didn't, they didn't, move on.

@Harry Engel He didn't choke nearly as much as you might think. Sometimes, yes. But, most of the time someone else screwed up and Romo tried to fix it. Sometimes he couldn't and the blame went all on him.
@tomknapp61943 жыл бұрын
@Harry Engel What are his biggest games the "he lost"? 2006 playoffs in Seattle? The Cowboys had the lead and the ball with just about 6 minutes to go. Terry Glenn fumbled a pass on the 4 ultimately resulting in a safety and a free kick. The Seahawks scored a mere 4 plays later. How was that Romo's fault that it lead to his fumbled snap? The 48-51 loss to the Broncos? How is a man that just passed for over 500 yards and 5 TDs still passing? Maybe because the defense forced ZERO punts? Still must be Romo's fault. 2014 playoffs against the Packers? On only 19 attempts, Romo had 2 TDs, almost 200 yards, and a 140 passer rating. Maybe we could blame Murray who had a clear TD but the ball was punched out and recovered by GB. Or Bryant for trying to extend the play (which was called incorrectly anyway). How were those Romo's fault if you do more than just read the headlines? I'm not saying he was perfect and there are games that can be directly blamed on him. But, not nearly as many as most think.

This is what makes the NFL so Great! The Narrative! Ed and Steve were great with the camera and John’s voice was a shinning light on such great bunch of exceptionally spirited players.

Tony Romo was a heck of a player. Had he won a Super bowl, he would be talked about as an HOF player. All the guy did was play his heart out and folks outside of Texas hated him. Cowboy fans loved the guy

Good pick. I tell you another Steeler that I would put on a long list: Ray Seals. He didn't even go to college and wound up a starter in the NFL.
