Even though it was never officially released in the West......Racing Lagoon is one of my favourites. Due to it's style, charm, visuals and the translation was done very well.

@@GamingKick No problem. If you like cars or enjoyed watching Initial D then you will like it. It's also a RPG at the same time wich is neat/interesting.(but it's not like a RPG where you have to grind forever to get somewhere). Just by doing races with nice cars I scored awesome parts to upgrade my car.

A half dozen more hidden gems in my humble opinion would be: - Bushido Blade 2 - Ray Tracers - Nannotek Warrior - Philosoma - One - Fear Effect (1&2)

Thanks for your hidden gems tips. Bushido Blade 2 and Fear Effect games are awesome. Started playing One recently for this video and really enjoyed it. The other 3 I haven´t heard of or played but I´ll check them out for sure.

Amazing list my dude! 3 new games added to my list! Loved the MK: Special Forces text, haha. I gritted it out in that game through the clunky levels, because the boss battles are actually quite fun!

"And the world class voice acting still holds up better than the pillars of Nosgoth themselves." I see what you did there... Wait, do i? Does that mean the voice acting aged well or terribly? As far as i remember, this could mean both.
@GamingKick
@GamingKick Жыл бұрын
Haha! I get it! You can take it both ways! But I think the pillars just falling apart because of the corruption. They were standing there for hundreds of years! So the voice acting is still top notch for such an old game!

Great list. Love Project Horned Owl! Here are some more that still hold up today and are between $10-$50 (in the USA): Board Game Top Shop (Fun Monopoly-lite board game to play with friends) Bravo Air Race (Fantastic Arcade Racer) Evil Zone (Hilarious fighting game) Felony 11-79 (Funny and detailed driving game) Moto Racer (60 FPS arcade racer) No One Can Stop Mr. Domino (Strange and wonderful) Omaga Boost (Do you like starfox?) One Piece Mansion (SimTower-like puzzle game. Colorful.) Ray Tracers (60fps driving game with boss fights. Fantastic.) Road Rash (Best road rash ever released) Runabout 2 (Sequel to Felony 11-79) Sled Storm (Pitch perfect controls. Feels so good to drive) Speed Punks (Speed Freaks in UK. Best kart racer on PS1. Fight me.) Warpath: Jurassic Park (Extraordinary graphics and sounds. Nostalgia trip.)

Another fun video. I'm curious about the weapon differences in Nightmare Creatures now and I STILL need to play Urban Chaos.

Glad you enjoyed it! For days I was trying to find that demo disk or some footage online, but it seems it got lost. Urban Chaos is worth a try if you get it for cheap. A bit clunky, but it has tons of charm. I think the PC version is just a few bucks.

@Jon-Patrick-S
@Jon-Patrick-S 2 жыл бұрын
I was interested in the demo exclusive content so I tried digging into it a bit and found out it was also released as a standalone demo disc in the US, I was able to find the files to play it on an emulator but I don't know how youtube feels about people promoting websites that host that kind of stuff so I'll just say the disc is known as "Nightmare Creatures Demo CD" and the serial number is "SLUS-90011" which should be enough to put people in the right direction. It has the sawblade item which is pretty cool, basically letting you do a dismembering one hit kill on any enemy for as long as it lasts. The only other major difference I noticed is the demo had no adrenaline meter you needed to keep up by killing enemies frequently. Was worth checking out imo, demos with exclusive content or content that differs to the final release version always interest me but documentation on old demo discs seems to be a bit spotty at best unfortunately.

@@Jon-Patrick-S You are a freaking legend, my dude! Found it and it is as awesome as I remembered. As you said it´s cool to have a chance to try out gameplay features which didn´t make it into the final game. Especially as cool as the sawblade. I was searching for "Nightmare Creatures sawblade" but didn´t find anything. Thanks for doing the extra diggin. Much appreciated.

been looking forward to this vid for ages 🍻🍻🍻 koudelka is amazing but a word of warning.....the battles are slow as fuck!!! Nightmare creatures was a great game as well 👌. Hard as hell even on easy mode but I still loved it. And silent bomber Is also awesome 💪. Great vid!

I took some time to make it for sure ;) I´ll see if I can stomach Koudelkas battles. Or I´ll watch the movie on YT. The dialogs and banter between the characters are looking hilarious! Silent Bomber and Nightmare Creatures were some of my favorites. Nightmare Creatures is a bit rough around the edges but Silent Bomber still holds up.

@@GamingKick Well worth the time! Such a great video👌. Koudelka is definitely worth it. It's not a super long game and there is more than 1 ending but I just wanted to inform you of the slow battle time. Who did you prefer playing as on Nightmare Creatures? I preferred the chick myself. What's your next planned video?

True. I guess I was just speaking of my own experience! Not sure, but I think we got a PS1 around 1998/1999. I´ll always associate it with the new millennium.

@@GamingKick Oh ok I understand what you mean. For me PS1 is associated with mid nighties. When disc based consoles capable of 3D were becoming available to people. Shifting from the 16 bit sprite era. I associate late 90s early 2000s era first with Dreamcast, then with PS2, GameCube Xbox etc. That's just me tho. Cheers.

@@aegisreflector1239 You were super lucky! I think Europe was a bit later to the Playstation party, and I was still in junior high! So we had to beg our parents for a Playstation! Even tho my family wasn't super wealthy we still managed to get most consoles somehow!

I never heard of Rise of Zan, and now I want a copy! Looks charmingly stupid. You mentioned the Ghost in the Shell anime, did you play the PS1 game? Update: checked eBay for Zan and yikes! Don't want it a hundred bucks worth.

The PS1 and PS2 era were such a wild time of strange yet interesting games, it felt kinda like devs were just throwing every wild idea they had at the wall because the costs hadn't gotten too high yet and I was all for it because you never knew what weird gems you might find hidden among the second hand game shelves in store. There's still a bit of that in todays indie dev scene and digital only markets but its never felt quite on the same scale. The last time I remember finding games that I'd never remotely heard of at the time and ended up falling in love with like that were the Yakuza and Way of the Samurai games on PS3, and even those two had their roots in the PS2 generation.
@GamingKick
@GamingKick 2 жыл бұрын
Couldn´t agree more! It was way easier to find hidden gems when you could just go to your local video game dealer and check out the box art. Who is endlessly scrolling Steam or the Playstation online store these days? There´s like piles of trash and mobile games and every once in a while there is a gem. From time to time I find some indie gems on Xbox Game Pass or when watching KZbin vids. These are my main sources of finding newer lesser known titles. Games like Yakuza and Way of the Samurai are even harder to find these days.
