I am loving the Townhouse Bus compressor for my drum and instrumental bus.
@surefmeurope57663 жыл бұрын
I'm exactly the same when it comes to compression, I particularly like multi band processing on the mix bus it can add so much to the mix

Soothe solves problems in 5 seconds that I might spend a half hour trying to fix with dynamic EQ or deesers or whatever garbage. I upgraded to Soothe2, mostly for the upgraded algo rather than the ability to deal with low end since that hasn't been an issue. But who knows, the low end Soothe2 treatment may blow me away. As far as UAD, the Neve 1073 in unison mode with generous EQ boosts is outstanding. Just boost a knob, audition frequency options, and the sweet spot just leaps out. Then adjust the boost to taste. Loving the videos. Thanks!

Preach bro. Totally agree! I gotta get that UAD 1073.

I probably have a 20,000 lonely rabbits from venturing down "rabbit holes" due to plugins I have bought and ended up not using! ;-) seriously though just recently bought UAD Neve 1073 , Studer, Ampex tape and very quickly starting to go on every track (bar the Ampex - that goes across the mix bus). Couldn't believe how much easier it is to mix just by adding these! Please keep your videos coming they are very inspiring!

I'm glad I found your channel. Straightforward and informative. I'm a fan of the Slate bundle. I've been experimenting with using the Virtual Mix Rack to put their virtual console on, then using their Virtual Tape Machine and doing that on nearly every channel. The changes to the sound are subtle, but i kind of dig it. I've been inundated with friends telling me to check out/get the Vulf Compressor. Haven't yet taken the plunge yet. I've been searching far and wide recently for a plug in that does really bad tape emulation - with the wow and flutter effects with some saturation. I found an awesome one but it's built in ableton and I'm not using ableton as much anymore.
@AndrewMasters4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Samuel! Yeah Slate has done a pretty fantastic job with their subscription. I reeeeeaally want to get the UAD version. They have a sick tape machine plug in.

Hey!! What kind of computer monitor do you use ?
@Markpianist14 жыл бұрын
Late to this party but for plugins I use many of the ones you do but I use Native Instruments ssl bus compressor on my two bus. For mixing tracks that didn't use a console or high end preamps I use Wave NLS. Also, UAD Studer A800 24 track tape machine to take the edge off of digital and to make more of fat sound.
@BurntSquirrel4 жыл бұрын
You should try the Brainworx stuff , especially the SSL consoles plugins and they have a new Focusrite console plugin that is awesome.

ozone also has a really amazing reverb, i can let you mess with the uad plugins before you buy, i bought a satellite octo and specifically didnt have the guy transfer it to me because he owned the majority of the uad plugs, shh

Cool video, great to hear about what plugins you use and even better, why. Personally, I use a lot of vstis (specifically NI Kontakt and several U-He ones) but relatively few vst effects, although I put the NI Replika XT delay and NI RC 48 reverb on virtually every track... 😄 Also, I like to use NI Guitar Rig 5 on percussion tracks.

Hey man, a couple of questions. You were talking about "mix bus", "drums bus", so what exactly is a "bus"? Haha. I've seen it on my mixer , but I still don't really know what exactly it is, or what it does. Lol Second question : Opinions on the stock plug-ins in Logic Pro X?
@AndrewMasters4 жыл бұрын
Bus is simply a path to send audio. So my ‘drum bus’ is 1 stereo aux track. I send all of my drum audio tracks through that single stereo aux track. Now you can process all of the drum tracks as one. I haven’t used the logic stock plugins in quite some time but I would imagine they are pretty solid!
