Which makes perfect sense because A. It shows it's too good to bother fighting it's opponents normally. B. Their second inspiration comes from French Royalty, and Serperior is most likely based on King Louie XIV, who was called the "Sun King" hence, Serperior's whole thing about absorbing light in the first place.

Remoraid is a fish that's also a revolver. Octillery is an octopus that's an artillery piece - a cannon. It's a handgun that evolves into a cannon. If you read between the lines, it makes perfect sense.

10: The pink 'pearl' is actually a fish egg hence it evolving into two fish. Its also not uncommon for fish to lay their eggs inside clams etc to protect them. 9: Cosmog is a Nebula which are 'star nurseries' while Cosmoem looks like a styalised Sun or Moon and egg. Solgaleo is the Sun Pokemon being born from a star nursery. 8: I got nothing other than fish usually depicted as aggressive becomes larger fish usually depicted as aggressive. 7: Toucans are actually cousins to Woodpeckers, not closely but still close enough to make sense. 6: The difference in appearance between Politoad and the rest of its family is that its the only one that's actually a fully formed Frog/Toad, even Poliwrath is still a Tadpole hence its classification as the Tadpole Pokemon. Most Frogs/Toads look nothing like their Tadpole forms. 5: Fairly sure Game Freak have conclusively stated that theory is wrong. 4: Serperior is holding its arms behind its back 3: Trapinch doesn't look that different to an actual Ant-lion larvae while Vibrava and Flygon look like the adult forms. 2: I got nothing other simply changing from one type of dragon to another, in this case either wyrm or sea serpent to western style. 1: Gun becomes artillery cannon. This is much more obvious in their beta forms. Both archer fish and octopus are also known for shooting out water/ink to attack or defend.

It's true. Take a look at it's back sprite and you can see it holding it's arms behind it's back. Which makes it you know...pretty superior like and everything. As far as Serperior is concerned, it's too good to bother with using it's arms on an inferior opponent. If anything, it just makes it that much more fitting as a final stage.

Solgaleo represents the sun which is a star, just like it’s pre-evolution, Trumbeak evolving into Toucannon isn’t weird when you know Woodpeckers and Toucans are related, The entire Poli family are amphibians, with Poliwrath being a Tadpole while Politoed is a frog, the Snivy line are snakes with each evolution being more serpentine, the Trapinch line is based off a bug called an antlion where the larvae are agressive digging monsters while the adults are flyers, and the dratini line makes sense when you realize Dragonite’s japanese name is Kairyu which means sea dragon which fits both Dragonite’s habitat and its pre-evolutions.

Serperior has tiny arms tucked behind its back. In fact a majority of these evolutions make sense Remoraid evolving into Octillery makes sense. Remoraid is a revolver and Octillery is a tank. Trapinch is an antlion and when antlion grow up they grow wings which is why Vibrava looks so different from Trapinch.

Yes. The larva of an Antlion is actually pretty much IDENTICAL to how Trapinch looks. That one is a common complaint by fans...but just struck me as poorly researched to me since you can go on google now and it takes you all of three seconds to find a larva for an Antlion and notice how close it looks to Trapnich.

From my understanding, the Sun/Moon arc was suppose to be a series reboot, de-aging Ash back down to 10 and having him "Start his Pokemon adventure" like it's all new to him. One of the big issues is that they made it so inconsistent. It's suppose to be a total story reboot for Ash but yet when he meets back up with Misty/Brock, he talks about how they were old friends and recollects some of their past travels together.

Actually in beta development, Remoraid looked more gun-like and Octillery looked more tank-like and that was the connection. A fish pistol becomes an Octopus tank. They removed the weapon stuff mostly but if u look closely at Remoraid, u can still c some gun components.

Ooo, fun fact: Remoraid was supposed to be more like a gun-fish, and Octillery would have been an armoured octopus tank, which would have made a lot more sense because gun evolving into tank. But I assume because of the controversy with that Safari Zone episode where the Warden put a loaded rifle directly against a 10 year old's head, they didn't want to touch any more weapon/military things.

Regarding Serperior; I agree that losing arms doesn't make a whole lot of sense - though there's mentions in Snivy's Pokedex entries that its vines are more dexterous than its arms, and, as someone else mentions, Serperior actually keeps them, they're just tucked away behind the back - but the loss of legs actually /does/ make sense. Once a Servine evolves into Serperior, it has, simply put, gotten much too big for the legs its previous forms had. It'd never be able to hold up its own weight with them, so they would have been completely superfluous.

A couple of things: - toucans are actually part of the woodpecker order, while pidgey goes from being a songbird to a raptor, two much more distantly related birds, so pikipek to toucannon makes more sense than pidgey to pidgeot. And don't get me started on spearow and fearow. - regarding serperior, there are quite a few limbless, serpentine animals whose ancestors did have limbs, so even though they often are, limbs aren't always a plus. Presumably for serperior, it's akin to poliwag or mankey losing their tails when they evolve. - antlions go through complete metamorphosis in real life, so it makes sense the different stages don't resemble each other all that much - wurmple doesn't look all that much like its evolved forms for the same reason.

Honorable Mention: *Conkeldurr -It starts off as a Timburr (who wields a log), then evolves into a Gurdurr (who wields a steel beam), and finally into Conkeldurr (who wields 2 concrete pillars). Wait, What?! Going from steel to stone makes no sense! Steel is much stronger than stone, did something go wrong and its weapons accidentally get swapped during development? *Runerigus -Not really for the evolution itself, but rather HOW you get it to evolve. You need to have a Galarian Yamask that has taken 49 or more damage in your party and walk under a stone archway in the wild area.

If you know the history, remoraid isn’t all that far fetched (not a pun) Remoraid was based on a gun originally, and its evolution, octillery (misspelled that-), was originally based on a tank. Obviously they can’t have those in a Pokémon game, so they made ‘em look like a fish with a little resemblance to a gun, and an octopus with a little resemblance to a tank Also doesn’t Serperior have harms that are stuck to its back?

Venonat's eyes, antenna, and hands closely resemble that of Butterfree's and even has matching coloration...so it would make more sense for Venonat to evolve into Butterfree than into Venomoth. And Metapod's eyes and head-shape resembles Venomoth more than Butterfree. Also, this is Pokemon and not real life so even though they may resemble real life animals, they don't always follow real-world animal logic. They were saying it didn't make since from an overall design standpoint of the actual Pokemon; and had nothing to do with actual real-world scientific reasoning. But you are basically saying "this is how it is in the real world so you are wrong and stupid."

Uh, Flygon's entire evolutionary line is an antlion, it makes complete sense, most people don't know what antlions look like though and they end up thinking Flygon is a dragonfly, because that is a pretty logical leap. Trapinch is a larval antlion. Dragonite's evolutionary chain is based off the salamander, and it does actually make sense within Japanese mythos.

Tadpoles have the spiral look due to their intestines being able to be seen through their skin, and tadpoles turn into frogs/toads. Polywag is literally a tadpole. Polywhirl is the tadpole after it loses it tail and has grown legs. Politoed is... The Frog/Toad I honestly thought we all learned this in the first 3 years of school. One evolution that is a Pokémon I love but doesn’t make sense is Dewott evolving into Samurott. The connection of oshawott into dewott makes sense, but how does it turn into Samurott? Samurott is on fours, has a mustache, a shell-horned helmet, an odd tail, and all the amazing and cool traits of a samurai making me love it. The problem Is that Dewott doesn’t have a single one of those traits, or any traits that is connected to one of those traits. The only thing that is similar is the names as they both end in “ott” but other than that this evolution makes no sense. But even if it is weird, I still love the Samurott line.

I see soo many people trying to correct them in the comments but they completely missed the point of the video. The whole point of the video was about Pokemon evolution lines not making sense based off of either how the Pokemon looks or their biology/physiology. For example....Remoraid being a fish and Octillary being an octopus. It makes 100% no sense for a fish to evolve into an octopus. When making their picks, they were not including the details of what the Pokemon were suppose to represent or be based off of lore-wise or whatnot. That being said, there are still a few things about this list that don't make sense. Serperior's evolution actually makes sense being science as proven that snakes evolved from having small limbs to not having them anymore. Some species of male snakes actually have a pair of small spurs on their tails that they use to see if a female is ready to mate that are said to be akin to residual legs. The Flygon line absolutely makes 100% sense because the entire evolution line is based off of the lifecycle of antlions. Trapinch is suppose to be its larval stage. Vibrava closely resembles an adult antlion after it emerges from its cocoon but they decided to give it a final stage for evolution with Flygon so it would have a more dragon-like appearance to match its dragon typing.
