it depends on your choice. chrono cross was well done and it had several ending. legend of dragoon had much better design and the game had voice acting (screaming hahaha) + the gameplay was more fluid but we talk about ps1 so nobody cares. 1 of the game is an epic tale with dragoons and magic the other is an epic tale with time traveling either way you will play with an epic game.

So happy Metal Jesus picked Xenogears. It's my favourite JRPG of all time hands down, brutally underrated. To those that complain about the second disc having too much dialogue I disagree, the story is so rich that it deserves and needs a lot of dialogue particularly towards the end. If you're a JRPG fan and haven't tried it do yourself a favour and give it a try!

Her attempts to justify it weren't bad, however even if it was a really good version, it shouldn't really be on this list. I may not agree with some other choices because of tastes, but I don't have a problem with them recommending them, but Tetris is a different story. Nostalgia shouldn't play that big of a factor. I have a DOS game that I love, there is significant noted issues,but I love it and still wouldn't put it in a 10 list for others to play.

I cannot believe you included Einhander! No one knows about this game but I loved playing this on the PS1 for so many hours. Tried to find it a couple years ago but they are so collectible now and SO EXPENSIVE. But they have it on Japan PS Store so I setup a Japanese account, purchased some Yen, paid less than 10 bucks and downloaded it into my PS3. Alexa,I assume you're too young to really appreciate its contribution to the RPG genre. No one who was old enough to play that game when it came out would ever look down on it. It was simply incredible.I'm saying this as a person who hates fads,but I was always a huge fan of Squaresoft. They made some incredible 16 bit games,but they went all out with this one. You want to know what was overrated? FF 8 and FF 9. Heck FF 10 on the PS2 was mediocre too. Oh,and the Legend of Mana was horrible,btw.

I mostly missed the PS cause I never owned one but I’ve been really exploring this system lately (and if you ask me it’s the best game system of all time). Born in 84 and became a “car guy” in my 30s and just started playing Gran Turismo 2 at your recommendation and oh dear it’s like such a treasure of all my favourite cars in a then state-of-the-art simulator. StooRoxxAss I was thinking the same same thing. Nostalgia factor immediately turned me off to the new cutscenes especially since they are a big part of what makes the game so good. However, that nice graphic upgrade and the MGS2 control and gameplay style make me say fair enough. Even though MGS1 is pretty much my favorite in the series and on the PS1 I can see why a lot of people like Metal Gear Matrix, even though I would never play it. Still waiting for that perfect MGS1 remake!!!

StooRoxxAss ryuhei kitamura directed the action scenes, he was responsible for azumi( my favourite movie of all time).... and versus( Kung fu zombies flick). I love the GC remake a lot more than the ps1 original, and I am a Sony fanboy.

snake You cant deny that a big part of what made the original game a masterpiece probably above all the others was that snake always felt human, alone and underpowered. Even if his enemies had supernatural abilities it was all maintained. It was a pretty scary game when i was ten years old and I had to hide and crawl in order to not get brutally killed by the sheer amount of enemies outnumbering you. Snake himself was easy to connect with and I would feel the same emotions as if i was really him. Watching him flip around in the gamecube remake and characters like vamp in the future games as well made it cartoony and i never got truly immersed ever again. The original is by far the one that is the most immersive to this day. They hit all the right notes with that one. Graphics dont hold up today though sadly. It sucks people nowadays cant truly experience MGS1 the way we did in the 90s

All of the other hidden gems have been very clean and I was expecting this one to be also. Lets say for example you turn on your tv set and see sponge bob square pants having sex. ninjanizzle I love play Tenchu on Ps2 cause graphic and animation is so smooth, but Tenchu 2 was almost perfect like a complete version. It has best storyline in series thats for sure, and besides that has level editor, best character to play(Tatsumaru), hidden bodies, pillage enemies pockets, FMV cut scenes, more open areas (not that restricted like on Ps2), 7 different stealth kills, swimming, sound, difficulty, ranking system... Thats why my verdict can't be different or maybe i could just say "its a game from my childhood and im only sentimental".

GameMirage tbh i preferred tenchu 1 on ps1. i thought that had better music. also i felt they ruined the ranking system in tenchu 2, if u were spotted u couldnt get grandmaster and had to restart the stage. also tenchu 2 was easy, u could just run thru the levels to the boss area and fight him 1 on 1. if u tried that on tenchu 1 u would be followed into the boss fight by all the enemies in the level lol. i remember u could cut arms and heads off in #1, i think that was taken out of 2. the unlockable moves in tenchu 3 were badass, u could make deadly custom combos with them. tenchu 2 was still very good tho so i understand ur opinion, but for me 3 and 1 were the best.

ninjanizzle Like i say it just sentimentality make which game you prefer. Tenchu SA has most mystical enchantment with Noriyuki Asakura climatical music, and it one of my favourite game soundtrack ever. But first Tenchu what i play was BotSA, and i like it most as a whole. Abaut system, BotSA has that balanced difficulty then you will never get GM rank if you just go through the boss and finish level that way. In TSA you can do that too, maybe not every level but still. If i will have to say which Tenchu has best ranking system, then i will point on "T:Fatal Shadows".

GameMirage dont get me wrong i understand ur reasons for picking tenchu 2. it definitely had the most memorable story of the series. i brought up the running thru the lvls to highlight an issue which make the game easier. u couldnt do that in tenchu 1, as the enemies would follow u right into the boss battle, then ud been in a battle royale lol. my point about grandmaster rank was in tenchu 1 and 3 u could get spotted and still get grandmaster for that stage. in tenchu 2 they changed it so that if u got spotted only once, u couldnt attain that ranking. i thought that was stupid. fatal shadows was the last tenchu game i enjoyed, but even then it wasnt as good as 3 imo. the first psp 1 wasnt that good and the 2nd psp game i hated and didnt even bother to complete. i didnt spend long enough on the xbox360 game to find out wat i thought of it.

Then I got RE 2 for the ps1 and played it. the cinematics were phenominal... and then I played it and all of its shitty horrible tank controls and was like... this is shit. moving on. Now the remakes on the Wii that turned this whole set into Rail Shooters... I LOVE THOSE and will do them all day every day!

I think the fact that a top ten list of the PS one never has the same games in them is a testament to how good the console was. I think the PS one is the best of all time. My top ten starting from ten. Sim Theme Park, Diablo 1, Teken 3, NBA Live 97, NCAA Football 2001, FF tactics, RE 2, Need For Speed Hot Pursuit, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Final Fantasy 9, Final Fantasy 7. There are alot of great games though, Warcraft 2, Tetris Plus, Breath of Fire 3, Digimon World, Madden 2001, NCAA Football 2000, Final Fantasy 8, Star Ocean, RE 1, Silent Hill, Driver, Street Fighter Alpha 2, both Gran Turismos, WWF Smackdown 2, WCW vs The World, Command and Conquer, Xenoblade, Twisted Metal 2, Mega Man X5, Vagrant Story, Army Man 3D. I'm sure there is some I missed; all of these could have made my top ten.
