10 key questions!
My recent Range Rover video with the “Review after 15,000 km” generated a lot of views - thank you to all my viewers for the comments and questions.
Some of the questions were quite interesting and I would like to answer 10 of the key questions and share my views with you - and please do comment and ask new questions.
1. First the question about DC-fast-charging of the Range Rover plug-in hybrid.
The P510e charges relatively fast for a plugin hybrid. Fast charge if possible and you will be surprised how economical it is.
2. The consumption and electric driving.
The Range Rover easily gives you 80-100 km of electric range at speeds up to 120 km/h, and over 100 km of range on country roads at 80 km/h in warm temperatures.
3. The residual values.
The new L460 is still in short supply which supports prices for used vehicles. The prices are rather stable.
4. Will the new full-electric Range Rover affect the demand for the plugin hybrids?
Still no youtubers or journalists have been able to test-drive the full-electric Range Rover. JLR is very tight-lipped about it - it should appear in showrooms at the end of 2024 and will surely be very expensive.
Frankly, I do not think it will affect the demand for the Range Rover plugins, rather I’d expect the full-electric Range Rover to struggle a bit to sell in volume after the initial first adopter rush. We will see.
5. What are the costs for maintenance over the next years?
My Range Rover comes with a 3+1-year extended warranty. The first service which is free of charge is due at 30,000 km or after 2 years so still some time before I can report on this.
6. Which model to choose?
I think all the Range Rover L460 powertrains are great, even the diesels. But of course, it depends on the place you live and your use case. For most people the plugin hybrid would be a great choice as it offers the best of all worlds in my opinion.
7. Is there is an advantage in importing a used Range Rover from Germany or Netherlands to your country?
My personal decision would always be to buy a car from a dealer in the country where I live and use the car.
8. What about the electric power train and battery?
The plug-in powertrain is powered by a lithium-ion battery with a net capacity of 31.8 kWh and gross capacity of 38.2 kWh. The electric motor is good, in the P510e it produces 140 HP, in the new version it produces 220 HP and has slightly lower consumption.
9. Did I experience and issues with the hardware?
No, I did not. There were some software issues which I covered in the last video.
10. Would you recommend a Range Rover to a friend?
Well, yes, I would. But I would tell her or him to be prepared to visit the workshop now and then for minor issues and be ready to pay top dollar for it unless you have a warranty coverage.
These were the 10 most important questions - I hope my answers were useful to you.
