They have come a long way. I remember when Rover released the Freelander, here in Australia it seemed a bit underpowered and soon got its nickname Freeloader. We are a long way from electrification. They build new fuel stations like there is nothing ever going to happen with the current "ICE" age.

@@LawpickingLocksmith The electrification will be slow as the technology still has a long way to go. In our family we own two BEVs (Taycan, Audi Q4 e-tron) plus the Range Rover PHEV and living with these every day is a joy, but I can charge at our house which is a must. If I were dependent on public charging I would go nuts. My sons drive Audi RS7 and Range Rover L322 - they are not ready to go BEV yet....

How does the ride quality compare to previous generation rangies? I always felt the 322 was better than the 405

The L460 is much better than previous models, yet the PHEV is slightly worse than the non-PHEVs, because the weight is another 200 kg because of the battery and the electric motor.

Super interesting! I would like to hear more about how smart the hybrid mode is and how the vehicle manages the battery/engine mix for you as it learns your style (but I see you do not always drive it that way personally) How was the seat comfort on your long drive to Italy? Thanks for making this video.

@@richryan8904 The seat comfort is first class. I have done several stints of 10-12 hrs and it is a treat to drive it. It has massage function, cooled and heated seats. The hybrid systems is so smooth that you hardly feel the shift between the two modes, you just see that rev counter move. I only ever recall one of my Audi A8s being as comfortable as the RR.

I do really appreciate your videos however Isn’t what you’re quoting reg. residual value what the cars are sold for at the dealers. That is quite different compared to what you as an owner gets paid when you trade in your car.

Hi Morton, does the vehicle always stay in pure EV mode or could it be that the ICE kicks in at high temperatures to assist AC or other features. I test drove the current model when it came out and I recall that the engine sometimes came to live even when in EV mode which would be a shame as I am planning to use it mainly for commuting. Thanks for your insights.

@@cavgt4037 Hi, I use it for commuting and drive 100% electric 99% of the time... Only very rarely does the car shift from EV mode to hybrid mode and the engine kicks in, despite still having a charged battery. It happens 1-2 x per month for no clear reason. I guess the car's software will want to activate the engine now and then for some reason. When in EV mode and you press the accellerator more than half the car will also activate the petrol engine and shift to hybrid mode. And if you shift the gear shift lever to S, then the engine will be activated, too.

@morten_hannesbo thanks, very useful, I am on the list for the EV but unfortunately it got postponed again and allegedly it's on pause as they don't trust the current market environment which is the only reason why I am considering a hybrid at all. I just don't have the user profile and a hybrid for me is a compromise, no one pedal driving, high maintenance, less pover in EV mode etc. At least they now have an extended 5 y warranty as a new standard, otherwise I would not contemplating the risk

@ The P510e PHEV is fantastic. I am waitlisted for the Range Rover EV, too, but will most likely keep the PHEV. I assume the EV will have a lot of bugs and tell a terribly bad residual value story.

What is your opinion on the Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 SUV compared to the Range Rover Plug-In-Hybrid? I like both and am in the market for a new vehicle.

@@user-ue9co3io4e Both are great cars. However, a Range Rover is an indulgement, pure luxury. A Merc EQS is a precision instrument.

The full EV Range Rover, will be a commercial failure for sure, as it is going to have a very short shelf life.
